- You have your kids home, right?
- Yes, kids are home, we have Christmas.

- We're talking New Years resolutions.
- We are, New Years resolutions.
- I don't believe in them, they're bullshit.
- Well, I think it's good to have goals though
and a New Year is a really great opportunity-
- What would you do if you started a New Years
resolution for your child?
Like, your New Years resolution this year is you're
going to listen to me.
- Oh I think that's mean.
- Well I think that's how much they don't work, that's-
- That they're unrealistic you mean.
- Yeah they're unrealistic.
- Okay I agree that they might not work and they might
be unrealistic but-
- You do them.
- I do set goals, yes.
- (Mocking) I set goals.
- Yes, I set goals like I'm going to try to be,
I'm going to try to drink a little less wine during
the week and only have it on the weekend,
that's my New Years resolution.
I am not an alcoholic, but I definitely like to have wine
during the week, I like to have a glass or two
and I find that I'm not as sharp the next day if I
have a glass of wine so
- 'Cause you were sharp before.
- No but I am affected easily by, okay I don't know
this is not going somewhere like I swear to god.
(laughter)
- She's embarrassed now take two.
- Okay, so basically.
- She's going to try to stop drinking.
So I think that when you said New Years resolution
my feeling on it is that it like sets you up for failure
and then you're mad at yourself
and then you're hard on yourself
I've been in the dieting and fitness industry for so long
that I think that-
- I hate the word diet so much.
- I think that women are always like I'm going to lose
30 pounds, I'm going to go to the gym, how packed is
your gym on January 2nd?
- Yes but some people need a momentous occasion like
the change of a year to like, have a fresh start and
go for it so I get it for people like that who feel like
it's a new start like maybe last year was really bad
for somebody-
- Did anybody else have like a not so amazing 2016?
- Yeah like how was 2016 for you?

- I feel like it was a good year for me because I had
a baby and I don't know there were stressful moments but-
- I feel like 2017's going to be my year.
- Yes, it's going to be our year woo woo,
and your year, woo woo.
(laughter)
- Dude you got a little jam going on today.
Okay so do you do New Years resolutions, what is your
feeling around that?
The consensus here is that they create a sense of
failure when you don't stick to them-
- No, that's not the general consensus.
- Yes it is.
- That's your opinion.
- No.
- Hold on a second, let's be honest here.
- No, if you look up any article around it,
I will put the link down below.
- The link to the article that says they're bad.
- They are not good.
I agree they're a fresh start and I agree with like
having goals, let's go with goals.
- Okay, it's good to have goals but can I just tell
you one thing that I find really annoying
and not that I,
I want people to go to the gym, I want people to be fit,
but January the gym is so flipping annoying because
there's all those people who don't ever really go
to the gym and they all-
- So don't go to the gym that Vanessa goes to and-
- No-
- just work out at home because she doesn't want you there.
- No because they take up all of the machines and the
weights and like they're not gonna, like
Is that mean?
I'm just saying the gym sometimes is annoying in January.
Just stick it out people, do it all year round,
all of the time, whenever you can-
- So it'll annoy her all the way in June.
- No I just think that being active is like,
if you can you should do it all the time, so.
- Yeah take it outdoors.
- Yeah, get outdoors, you don't have to get a gym
membership to be fit, right, you can do it anywhere.
- Okay so in regards to New Years resolutions,
what do we feel?
- Well I think that it's okay to have goals and a
New Year is a great way to like refresh and recharge-
- Okay what's your goal?
Oh yeah you're not going to drink.
- No, I'm gonna drink.
I'm saying I'm gonna drink less during the week and
save the party for the weekend.
I'm going to save my food parties and my wine parties
for the weekend.
- Okay.
- And, I'm going to try to find my zen more with my kids
and be more patient.
- Oh that's a good one.
- Yeah I want to try and find my zen more.
I've been buying a lot of oils and fairy spray.
- It didn't work.
- No-
- We watch her Facebook videos, it didn't work.
- I'm diffusing the you know what out of my house.
- I am going to try and slow down and not say yes to
so many things.
- Except me.
- Except for everything she asks me.
- Yeah.
- And I'm going try and put more attention into my marriage.
- I think that's a really good one.
- Yeah.
- I like that one, that's good.
- Yeah, we talked about that on Facebook-
- What about attention for me too?
- Anyway, so that's our Mom Files this week-
- And hold on our other motto is we're going to kill
it in 2017.
- Okay, yeah.
