Inception was a real box office dream for Christopher Nolan.
And when the movie was released, the writer-director had already shown that he was also a master
of sequels with his batty follow-up, The Dark Knight.
So it seemed entirely plausible that Nolan would eventually go deeper into the layers
of subconscious reality with Inception 2.
"You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger darling."
But despite an ambiguous ending and some serious interest in a follow-up film, it just hasn't
happened yet.
Here's why.
Limbo
Inception was released right before The Dark Knight Rises closed out Nolan's three-part
trek through Gotham City.
While he wasn't traditionally a sequel man before, his Dark Knight trilogy seemed to
change his tune.
In fact, he said that while he originally conceived of Inception as a one-shot cinematic
experience, he wouldn't close the door on a possible return, simply because of the outcome
of his Batman experience.
He told Deadline:
"I've always liked the potential of the world.
It's an infinite, or perhaps I should say infinitesimal world that fascinates me…
I think of Inception as one film, but that's how I approach all of my films.
When I was making Batman Begins, I certainly didn't have any thoughts of doing a second
Batman film, let alone a third.
You never quite know where your creative interests are going to take you.
But when I was making Inception, I viewed it as a standalone movie."
Virtual reality
To further explore the dream-within-a-dream world he'd created, Nolan originally eyed
a video game as the preferred medium for a follow-up because it would offer an even more
expansive place for exploring all the layers of his dream world.
Plus, let's face it.
Some parts of the movie just looked like video games, with all that Minecraft-style world-building
and how the heroes stormed the frosty fortress like something straight out of GoldenEye.
Hey, you know you'd play it.
The kick
Even if Nolan did want to consider stepping back into the world of Inception, he's kept
himself pretty busy with other projects.
After he returned to Gotham for the final Dark Knight installment after Inception's
release, he ventured into all-new territory with 2014's Interstellar.
He's also written and directed a World War II epic called Dunkirk that's due in theaters
in 2017.
Nolan's shown he has the ability to step back into one filmmaking world after pressing pause
on it, but the more movies that stack up between Inception and its hypothetical sequel, the
less likely it seems he'll ever return.
"You promised, you promised!"

The cast has been pretty swamped since then, too.
After Inception, DiCaprio headlined in a series of commercial and critical succcesses, starring
in J. Edgar, Django Unchained, The Great Gatsby, and The Wolf of Wall Street in rapid succession
— then, after five Oscar nominations over 22 years, he won Best Actor for his leading
role in 2015's The Revenant.
More recently, DiCaprio has turned his attention to philanthropic filmmaking with the documentary
Before the Flood and producing duties on his upcoming big-screen Captain Planet adaptation.
Tom Hardy has also starred in a few big-deal pictures you might have heard of, like The
Dark Knight Rises, Mad Max: Fury Road, and The Revenant.
And Joseph Gordon-Levitt went on to make his own directorial debut in Don Jon and starred
in a bunch of hits like Looper and Snowden.
Surely they'd all be willing to pencil in another project with Nolan if he asked them
to.
But scheduling a time that might work for all of these people could conceivably be pretty
complicated.
Elephant budget
Saito might've had deep enough pockets to make a second movie happen, but in the real
world, budgets are a real wake-up call for studios looking into making a sequel.
Inception cost a whopping $160 million to make, and it's expected that a sequel would
have to be even bigger and better to truly impress, meaning it'd cost even more.
In an era when sequels aren't always a box office guarantee, that's a risky move Warner
Bros. might not be ready to make.
Drop the top
But even with all that in mind, it's hard to shake that spinning top and not want to
see more.
One of the main reasons Inception fans have been dreaming of a sequel is that the ending
seemed to raise more questions than it answered.
Was Cobb really reunited with his children at long last in the waking world?
Did the spinning top that was his totem eventually fall, revealing that he'd finally escaped
the brain plane?
But according to Nolan, that last scene wasn't meant to be so confusing.
He told Princeton University graduates in 2015:
"The way the end of that film worked, Leonardo DiCaprio's character Cobb — he was off with
his kids, he was in his own subjective reality.
He didn't really care anymore, and that makes a statement: perhaps, all levels of reality
are valid.
The camera moves over the spinning top just before it appears to be wobbling, it was cut
to black."
You got all that?

The short version: even if you think that there's more to tell about the final shot
of Inception, Nolan doesn't.

Why Is Syria's First Lady So Controversial? - Duration: 3:55.
"Glamorous", "cunning", "elegant" a "rose in the desert": these have all
been used to describe Asma al-Assad , the first lady of Syria.
Scroll through Asma's Instagram and you'll see pictures of her cradling small children,
helping the disabled, and visiting the ill, all while her husband's regime tortures
dissidents, bombs hospitals and wages war until entire cities turn to rubble.
Asma was once seen as a glimmer of hope in a turbulent region.
Now nearly six years into the Syrian Civil War, no one quite knows what to make of her.
So what's the story behind Syria's controversial First Lady?
Well, Asma al-Assad was born and raised in London by Syrian Parents.
She studied French and Computing at King's College, before moving to New York City to
pursue a career on Wall Street.
In 2000, Asma was 25 years old and about to begin an MFA program at Harvard when she reconnected
with Bashar al-Assad, whom she had met years earlier in London.
The couple married that year, and Asma dropped Harvard to move to Syria, where Bashar had
become president just months earlier.
Syrians were largely optimistic about the country's future in the hands of Bashar
and Asma.
Bashar's father and predecessor, President Hafez al-Assad , transformed Syria into a
one-party police state, letting him keep a tight grip on power for three decades.
Bashar and Asma were widely regarded as more modern and progressive, and many Syrians believed
that the western-educated couple would institute an era of freedom and openness.
For about a decade, Asma had largely followed through on these expectations.
As first lady she spearheaded state-run charities that funded rural development, female empowerment,
aid for the disabled and child care.
In the press, she was regarded as charming, elegant and charismatic.
However her public image took a serious blow with the onset of the Syrian Civil War.
In 2011, thousands of people across Syria began to speak out against Bashar al-Assad's
repressive regime.
Government forces went to unprecedented lengths to crush dissent, including firing into a
crowd of protesters.
That year, rebel groups formed and Syria descended into civil war.
As soon as the conflict broke out, Asma entered a period of complete silence and seclusion,
prompting questions over whether she even knew the extent of her husband's unlawful
activities.
In fact since 2011, the first lady has only made a handful of public statements, most
of which have been terse and unspecific.
In October 2016, Asma gave her first TV interview in eight years, in which she admitted to feeling
"pain and sadness" when she met those affected by the conflict.
Meanwhile, no one in the international media has hesitated to point out the glaring hypocrisy
of Asma's lifestyle.
In March 2012, leaked emails published by the Guardian showed that Asma had been spending
tens of thousands of dollars on designer clothes, jewelry, and home decor, while government
forces bombed syrian civilians and opposition forces.
A month later, the wives of British and German UN Ambassadors released a video urging Asma
to stop her husband's violent regime.
Today, more than three hundred thousand people are dead as a result of the Syrian Civil War.
Cities like Homs, where Asma's parents hailed from, are in shambles.
Meanwhile, Asma has rejected offers of asylum, and claims she is still focused on domestic
charity work.
Until this devastating conflict comes to an end, Asma al-Assad will likely continue living
in the shadow of her husband's iron-fisted regime.
The Syrian Civil War is largely a result of widespread opposition to Asma's husband,
President Bashar al-Assad.
But where are ill-feelings toward Assad coming from?

in a number of war crimes by the UN, including the imprisonment and killing of his own citizens.

Hey, everybody.
I'm Justin with americanmuscle.com and welcome to my detailed review and install of the MBRP
Pro Series Dual Seam Side exit Cat-Back Exhaust System dumping before the passenger side rear
tire available for your 2015 and newer 3.5-liter EcoBoost-powered F-150.
In this video, I'm gonna break down the sound profile.
You can expect when going with MBRP system here.
What you can expect as far as materials and construction from the Pro Series.
And then finally, a quick little walk-through of the install itself.
On the surface, guys, there will be the smallest amount of cutting depending on your cabin
bed size.
Still gonna go one out of three wrenches here with a little bit more detail coming up later
on.
In my opinion, guys, the Pro Series from MBRP should appeal to just about any F-150 owner
out there for a few basic reasons.
First and foremost, it's gonna appeal to those who really dig that dual same side exit configuration
dumping before the passenger side rear tire.
In my opinion, a very, very cool look when installed.
It's also gonna offer a considerable increase in sound over your factory system.
And last but not least, it's gonna be for the truck owners out there who want premium
materials but at an affordable price.
As I mentioned a few times now already guys, this will be a little different in that configuration,
dual same side exit again, before the passenger side rear tire.
A lot of you guys watching this who are Ford truck fans probably remember that as being
something that you might have seen on the SVT Lightnings back in the day, very same
look here when installed.
And again, something I think looks really killer on the truck.
Now, obviously, we will talk a little bit more about the configuration, materials, construction,
all that good stuff.
But since this is an exhaust, let's dive right into the sound first.
As you guys heard with our sound clips at the very top of this video, guys, the MBRP
Pro Series definitely produced a good amount of tone again, a noticeable increase in volume
over your factory system as expected, but it's still not the loudest or craziest system
I've ever heard.
Breaking out the one to five or one to wake the neighbor's scale, I'm going strong middle
of the road here, three out of five.
I did pick up a little bit of noise inside the cab when cruising, that might be a function
of where this thing actually exits the truck, underneath the cab a little bit.
But ultimately guys, it wasn't something that I would consider a deal breaker by any stretch
of the imagination.
With the sound aside, let's talk materials here with the Pro Series.
The Pro Series, really guys, is gonna be the best MBRP has to offer when it does boil down
to overall construction and materials.
And now, if you're familiar with MBRP, you know, you can get into one of their systems
for not a lot of dough overall, but you can also expect a wide variety of options due
to the different materials or configurations.
Now, some of these include the installer series on the low-end, the XP series or even the
Black series, all of these systems I just mentioned are gonna utilize either 409 grade
stainless steel or aluminized steel.
The Pro Series here, on the other hand, is gonna be the only system MBRP offers that
will offer full 304 grade stainless steel, the benchmark in the exhaust world.
And as such, it's gonna be the only system they offer that will come backed by a full
lifetime warranty.
Taking that construction a step further, guys, you're gonna find three-inch tubing leading
off the flange here, through the high-flow muffler from MBRP before splitting off in
the dual three-inch tail pipes all exiting out the four-inch polished tips here, embossed
with that MBRP logo.
Again, everything is made from that 304 grade stainless steel.
So, you're gonna have a system that's gonna remain looking good for years to come underneath
your truck, even in the snowiest or saltiest climates.
Now, guys, if you really enjoy everything about this system from the quality to the
materials to most importantly the sound, but maybe you're not a huge fan of that dual same
side exit configuration before the rear tire, you can always pick this thing up in a few
different configurations here at AM, including a four-inch version.
Again, check them out on the site if you haven't done so already.
Now, switching gears, let's talk price.
And since the Pro Series is the higher-end of the MBRP lineup, expect to spend a little
bit more than some of their other budget offerings here on the site.
In fact, you're gonna paying right around the $600 price point for the Pro Series, which
in the big picture in the exhaust world, is very reasonable giving the premium materials.
And let's touch on the install like we promised at the top of this video, guys.
And like I said earlier on, there is a small amount of cutting needed here to get the MBRP
Pro System in place depending on your cab and bed size.
Luckily for you guys, MBRP does a great job of laying out very clearly what you need to
cut and how much you need to cut depending on your wheelbase.
Again, just make sure you double-check that first.
The old saying goes, "Measure twice, cut once," and you'll be good to go here.
Of course, you wanna make sure you have a good cutting tool on hand.
My personal preference is a Sawzall.
The nice fresh metal blade should make short work of this 304 grade stainless tubing.
Other than that, guys, you're looking at a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty
meter, maybe a strong one out of three of course, because there is a little cutting.
And other than that, a basic socket set.
You should be looking at about an hour or two from start to finish to remove the factory
system and get the Pro System in place.
I really enjoy the MBRP lineup because they offer something for everyone and ultimately
every budget.
The Pro Series here is gonna be a premium option from the budget-friendly brand, one
that's gonna pack excellent build quality and materials and a very aggressive note to
boot.
So that's my review of the MBPR Pro Series which you can get for your F-150 right here

#FridayReads 13: A Natural History of Dragons - Duration: 3:18.
Hi, I'm here with my Friday Reads. I'm doing
pretty well with my December TBR. I'm
currently reading A Natural History of
Dragons, A Memoir by Lady Trent, by Marie
Brennan, and I'm really enjoying this. So
this is a fantasy book about a very well
renowned dragon naturalist in this world,
called Lady Trent, and she's writing her
memoirs, and this is the first book in
her memoirs that takes us through her
childhood and teenage years and through
her first expedition to study dragons. So
Lady Trent's own culture is sort of
reminiscent of Regency England, even
though this is set in a separate fantasy
world from ours.
This is in the fantasy of manners
tradition, which is one of my favorite
fantasy sub-genres. The mores of Scirland,
where she lives, are very close to
Regency era mores, in regards to their
culture and women's rights and women's
position in society. So Lady Trent is
really buckling the society's
expectations with her passion to study
dragons. And I really like the voice of
Lady Trent, she's writing this is as an older woman,
well respected, a scientist, and she often
comments on how her younger self behaves.
And I'm just currently at the point
where she's on her first-ever dragon
studying expedition, and I love it so far.
I have about a hundred and fifty pages
left to go, so I think I can finish this
in December. Then I have two books that I
haven't managed to get to from my
December TBR, and the first of those is
Word Puppets by Mary Robinette Kowal.
This is her short story collection and I hope
to at least read one of the short
stories before December ends, so that I
can say that I started it in December, and
then continue on during this week and
next week. And the final book that I have
left from my December TBR is Shirley
Jackson's Hangsaman, which is this poor
book that always gets thrown aside
whenever I decide what to read next, and
I always leave it for last and then I never
end up picking it up. I have started it a
couple of times and read about five pages
each time, and this month I didn't even
start it, so I'll definitely be reading
this in January. I've been putting this
off for so long - I want to finally know
what it's about! So I just came back
earlier this week from my Christmas
holidays, I was visiting family, and I didn't get any
books for Christmas, but I did get an
Amazon gift card from my big sister, and I've
already bought two novellas. I bought The
Lost Child of Lychford by Paul Cornell,
which is a sequel to the novella The
witches of Lychford, which was a really
fun novella about modern-day witches,
and I also bought Of Sorrow and Such by
Angela Slatter, which is also a witch
novella. A couple of other non-bookish
gifts that I got was this Disney princess
blind box from my little sister. You
could get a random Disney princess, there
were about ten options, or also you could
get one of their sidekicks. And I did
manage to get Jasmine from Aladdin,
which is great, because I wanted either
Jasmine or Belle from Beauty and the
Beast, and I got her. And from my brother
I got Batman and Robin bendable
figures... I'll leave that to your
imagination. So that was my Friday Reads.
