hey guys I'm Katie Talbot with Singing Success and I want to talk to you about
high notes
yes high notes all of us singers we want them yet were scared of them
i remember when i first started going to Brett and i was going for this high note
and I put a ceiling on my voice
I freaked myself out and I cracked flipped squeaked I don't know what I did I
tightened up my I tightened up my cords just tightened up my throat tightened up
and my mind tightened up and I want to talk to you about how to get rid of that
we all know as singers that singing is so mental
that's what makes this a vulnerable career and that's what makes it a beautiful
career too because it is so mental and it's so emotional and one thing
that we have to stop telling ourselves is I've gotta reach for that note
because we hear something of if i were to go
right here on this d that a lot of singers a lot of divas on the
radio use this D we hear that in a song and we go
oh my gosh i can't do that or even if i were to do the star-spangled banner
if i were to go and the rocket's red glare
ooh I don't want to hit that oh and you can hear it in my voice and you can see it
physically that ok she's got this but I don't think she believes that she has it
I have to ignore that the best thing that we can do as singers is turn that
doubt off in our brain that's what Brett says a lot of times in our lessons
because we start going for something we're warming up like crazy and then we
go to sing and we go
I can't do it so get that get that out that has no power no authority over you
you can absolutely hit those high notes and you can hit them with ease
especially with correct technique of what we teach here
another thing is as you're training your brain to relax into
and toease into that high note and to not doubt but that do it confidently
picture as if you're pushing the pressure down instead of reaching up so far to go
as I as I just did and the rocket's red glare
ok I'm reaching for it if i were to feel instead of reaching for as if as if i'm
coming up over an edge
picture me pushing pressure down ok and the rocket's red glare the bombs
bursting in air and you can feel that yes there's still I'm in in a heavier mix
but I'm a lot more easy and my jaws relaxed
I'm easy and I'm just allowing myself to to connect and it think about it and in
a visual way of when we see frogs jumping on lily pads we don't see them
doing this
oh now I'm on it oh now I'm on it we see them going right on top and you see
that the lily pad just bounced down
think of that with the song and the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in are. This just gives you a
chance to
ok now I've got that note i've hit it a ton of times when it comes to scales and
warming up and in technique and even when i'm just not thinking about
anything singing in the car
I can hit it but then I want to go to the record and I freeze up
this is something get that visual push and pressure down turn that Dad off and
then these high notes will be so much easier for you again
all of the singers want them so why are all of us singers scared of them
if you're having some difficulty with those high notes you
still have that strain
come see us ok correct technique you can do any style you want to do and those
high notes are made easy
and guess what your range grows too so that that d becomes easier because guess
what you're connecting to an F like it's nothing
so give us a call if you have any questions when it comes to those high
notes again if you're feeling that strain
even if you have that doubt you're not alone in it
all of us singers even as coaches we are scared of our voice
sometimes and that's what we love to work through because guess what
as the walls come down that freedom in your voice you got high notes for days
it's diva status for life
so give us a call here cannot wait to work with you
let's get those high notes let's make them easy
