This is Supergirl episode nine, it's Kevin Smith's episode the title Supergirl lives
is a reference to the unproduced movie that he wrote the screenplay for called Superman
lives, which I'll explain the second because it is the craziest Superman story that you've
ever heard of it is ridiculous, which makes me think that they're going to be borrowing
some concepts from that the not can be doing Superman lives, but the gonna be doing some
stuff from that Kevin Smith said it's the biggest episode of TV that he's ever directed
in terms of comic book deep cuts characters that he's a love so like for instance the
eradicate or was a big part of his Superman live scripts I'm wondering if there can introduce
the eradicate or.
On Supergirl, it also looks like she passes through a gateway to a planet with a red son,
that's also part of the story of Superman lives the evil duo of Lex Luther and Brainiac
turn our yellow son red to take away Superman's power, so he's powerless for a lot of the
folks you can start to see why they didn't produce the Superman lives movie but all explained
the plot of that in greater detail in the second but it looks like was happening here
is just Supergirl is losing her powers because of the red son.
You also have this alien ship these aliens were teased at the end of the Supergirl crossover
episode during the big four night crossover

So there is no sinus kryptonian pot the ion trail is dissipated I would not know where
to look and how much space we must is or how many sons we they sound like they might be
the dominators from this universe but they were all wearing helmets.
So you couldn't really tell they were looking for special nebula like a special area of
space that brought Manel to earth so that place might be tied to this gateway here,
but the dominators are coming back.
Whether or not these aliens are them the dominators that we saw during the four night crossover
will be coming back to Supergirl in the back half of the season, but because it Supergirl
she's in a different universe.
They might be the dominators from her universe not from the universe and Earth one.
So not technically the same dominators even though it's the same race of beings just from
a different universe.
Roulette is back, it seems like she has some mysterious connection to these aliens in the
ship.
So will learn about that, during the back Of the season.
It seems like roulette's going to be a larger character over the back Which is cool Deacon
Lockman's great actors, she was really good on the 100 show she's really good on dollhouse.
So Superman lives.
Let's talk about this monstrosity.
This was the Ben Affleck Superman movie that turned into the Tim Burton Nicolas Cage Superman
movie.
It was several different versions of its I'll try to explain everything Kevin Smith was
heavily involved at the Scripps stage he kind of remembers it fondly.
Now, in retrospect, but this is like many many years later, it was around 1996, 1997
when they were in production.
This is a long time ago.
So you have to imagine the younger version of Kevin Smith, just sign when he was asked
to make all these compromises in the script.
So the important figures here Kevin Smith was the person that was working on the screenplay,
he pitched it to Jon peters who was the producer the director was going to be Tim Burton so
he I guess you could think of it is Tim Burton's version of Superman the really most of the
stuff we know about this isn't talking to Kevin Smith because he wrote the screenplay,
so listen to some of these beats that the producers wanted Kevin Smith to write into
the screenplay, Smith explained that he was a hired gun and as such he had to do what
ever they asked for.
So even if they asked for ridiculous stuff which they definitely did which I'll explain
a second he's had to write in the screenplay, no matter how crazy he thought it was.
So this kind of changed over time.
But at the start what they asked for was Superman wearing all black suit.
So people like okay that doesn't sound so bad Superman in the black suit just like the
comics.
They also did not want him to fly now can you imagine a Superman can't fly already you're
getting like a little less excited you like okay you don't maybe he'll be like Golden
age Superman leaping tall buildings in a single bound, but then Kevin Smith came back and
was like no no no he'll fly and he'll just create sonic booms.
Every time he does which they actually been using in the more recent movie, so that such
a pretty cool idea.
So we have Superman flying again.
But then the producers came back and said okay for the big climactic fight we want Superman
to fight a giant spider.
So naturally, Kevin Smith is like that's the dumbest idea ever and then later in onto the
film fell apart.
Side note Jon peters also produced that wild wild West video.
Guess what the big villain turned into at the end of that movie a giant spider.
So this producer the Kevin Smith was forced to work with those big deal these crazy demands
which is obsessed with giant spiders for some reason, but the list goes on.
So Kevin Smith you know being a relatively young person in Hollywood, which is forced
to do with the producers wanted.
So he started writing the script.
But then the producers came back and said there's not enough action in the film we want
more fight scenes.
So because Brainiac was going to be one of the villains of the film they said we want
Brainiac to fight a polar bear up at the Fortress of solitude.
So you know Kevin Smith is just kinda shaking his head quietly this whole time like no.
This is terrible terrible idea, and then because around that time Star Wars was getting its
20th anniversary re-released in theaters if you remember the special editions that's basically
what it was they re-release the Star Wars movies in theaters so Lucasfilm had all this
merchandising going on so toy sales were making producers a lot of money, so the producers
of Superman lives were saying okay we want more things in the movie that we can turn
into toys, so that we can make more money, so they asked Kevin Smith to write a dog a
space dog into the movie that Brainiac would give to Lex Luther just for merchandising
reason so that we can make a toy from it.
Not because Brainiac giving Lex Luther a space dog made sense for the story.
So then they asked Kevin Smith to also write in an assistant for Brainiac the like we want
him to have a robot assistant name L Ron yes with that's code for L Ron Hubbard voiced
by Hooper X from chasing Amy it was going to be like this gay robot assistant.
That's what the producers call that they said that we want Brainiac to have a gay robot
assistant.
Just like C3 PO this was happening around the Star Wars special edition rereleases.
So there was a lot of Star Wars being inserted into movies all over the place.
But I do laugh at the idea like it's so funny just the idea of Hooper X voicing a robot
assistant to Brainiac in a Superman movie that would be the most hilarious disaster
ever so then Kevin Smith went away.
Wrote a bunch of the movie came back in in the big part of the story of the Superman
lives part of it came from the idea that Brainiac sent doomsday to kill Superman he blocked
out the sun.
So Superman was powerless and then just like in the comics you know the return of Superman
Superman is resurrected by the eradicate or and is able to eventually defeat Brainiac
and Lex Luther.
So around that time Kevin Smith's choice for Clark Kent Superman was Ben Affleck.
So there was appeared of time in the late 90s when Ben Affleck would have been Superman
which is no pretty hilarious because he's Batman now I think it worked out for the better
because when Tim Burton got involved with the movie that's when it became the Nicolas
Cage monstrosity they changed a bunch of Canon like it almost became unrecognizable as a
Superman comic book story so they rewrote Kevin Smith's version of the story and that's
when it turned into like something that was really crazy.
So like Kevin Smith wrote a version of the movie that was pretty good but had a lot of
ridiculous things that the producers asked him to put in, but it was still pretty recognizable
as like a death and return of Superman from the comic story then when Tim Burton got involved
it got really crazy.
So like for instance Superman absorbs solar radiation from the yellow sun.
That's what gives him his power in heels them during the return of Superman.
It also brings him back to life.
So to speak.
I mean, he didn't really die.
He was just very close to death.
So in the new crazy Tim Burton version of the movie he's brought back to life by the
power of K a natural force representing the spirit of krypton the new rider who was rewriting
Kevin Smith's version also combined Lex Luther and Brainiac into a single entity called Lexi
act.
So it just sounds like the most ridiculous thing ever.
What started out as a really good idea and Kevin Smith said as Superman lives was kind
of perverted by Hollywood and then later totally took it up the butt as people who didn't care
about the comics, just completely try to change it.
It turned in the like this 11 year process.
It had nothing to do with George Romero's Justice league that's a completely separate
project.
This was just a Superman movie.
So thank God that it fell apart.
You know Kevin Smith is just like okay you know it was a fun project to work on, but
at the time.
I'm sure it was just a living nightmare for him, but now you know he's been directing
episodes of the flash so when Supergirl came to Vancouver.
He was like yeah I would be awesome to do in episode a Supergirl so the producer of
Supergirl is the same producer of the flash and he revealed the Kevin Smith episode would
be title Supergirl lives in Kevin Smith just started crying.
He was like aww thank you so much.
This is so wonderful.
So like I said we don't know exactly what the plot of his Supergirl lives episode, is
but it sounds like they're borrowing some beats and some concepts from his Superman
lives screenplay may be like the eradicate or like he said deep cuts from the comics
so be like that's a great tip for eradicate or and blocking out the sun.
Although looks like red sun here she was still looser powers, but that also means that Brainiac
might make an appearance.

I'm afraid I feel like this is a much better version of the Supergirl trailer than you

Diet vs Exercise - Which is Better for Weight Loss? - Duration: 4:49.
Weight loss, the most sought-after fitness goal of the modern world.
Rise of obesity is going bonkers, bringing along with it a slew of health issues such
as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and weight-based stereotypes.
Regardless of the reason why you or anyone else wants to lose weight, no doubt that finding
the best way is just as much of a struggle as actually doing it.
The common understanding is that you have to work out hard and eat healthy.
But between exercising and dieting, which one will help you lose weight most effectively?
Let's look at the physiological process of weight loss first.
Generally, weight loss occurs when net energy expenditure exceeds that of net energy consumption.
Simply put, burn more energy, measured in calories, than you consume.
Energy expenditure occurs mainly through three factors: The one that accounts for most of
the energy is your basal metabolic rate, or BMR.
This accounts for all the bodily functions during rest, such as your heartbeat and brain
functions.
Another factor is thermic effect of food, or the energy used during digestion.
And the third factor is physical activity, determined by any type of movement you perform,
including cleaning, walking the dog, and of course, exercise.
Of the three factors, physical activity is really the only thing you can manipulate in
any appreciable manner.
You just have to do… well, more physical activities.
Energy consumption, however, is completely under your control.
You are responsible for what and how much you eat.
Some might doubt this, but as far as the research goes, losing weight generally comes down to
eating less than you burn.
So, exercise burns more energy and dieting decreases energy intake.
Now, we simply compare which one does their job better.
And DIETING, seems to be the easier path.
Take a hundred calories for example: With dieting, that means eating only half of that
chocolate bar or take one less bite of that burger.
With exercise, burning 100 calories means running a whole mile or walking the dog for
half an hour.
Increase it to 250 calories, and that's skipping the whole chocolate bar or a handful
of fries versus a whole hour of weightlifting.
Unless you're a fitness freak, eating less will almost always be easier than exercising
more.
And even more so if you focus on eating low-calorie, nutrient dense food which will make you feel
more full instead of the high-calorie junky type which makes you feel like reaching for
seconds.
So, does that wrap up the argument?
Just diet and not exercise at all?
Well, not exactly.
The goal of weight loss shouldn't start and end with the sole focus on seeing the
number on the scale go down.
Exercise, although not as effective as dieting for weight loss, per se, it still comes with
a lot more health benefits that everyone should have.
Now, for people that are extremely overweight, simply losing weight is already a huge health
improvement.
If just dieting works for them, then that's perfectly fine.
For people capable enough, exercise most certainly should be part of the plan.
The obvious benefit is burning more calories and giving you the green light to finish that
chocolate bar.
Exercise will also improve your overall heart health and lung capacity.
Some even benefit from the therapeutic high of certain exercises along with the awesome
benefit of burning more fat for energy granted you are eating enough protein.
And one thing about only dieting for weight loss is that your body will eventually adapt
to the changes.
The longer you diet, the more your BMR lowers and your body becomes a clingy fat lover.
Muscle protein breaks down often, stress hormones elevate, and your appetite gets shaky.
Less energy ends up being burned and you will need to eat even less than before to keep
losing weight.
Adding exercise, however, makes life a whole lot better.
BMR might still go down, but much slower with exercise than without.
It will also slow down muscle breakdown and and increase fat breakdown to provide the
muscle energy.
It also means looking more lean and getting stronger as you lose weight, especially for
beginners.
With just dieting, you simply end up being a smaller version of your pudgy self.
But keep in mind that exercise still requires an overall calorie deficit to lose weight.

Now weighing diet and exercise with all the added benefits considered, exercise might
be the overall better approach.
Sure, you lose weight slower but you don't have to starve yourself and become healthier,
stronger, more muscular, and, most of all, happier.
Doing both in tandem will probably be the best, but if I had to choose one, you can
find MY answer at the gym.

Martin d45 made in 1941 it's had a lot done to it still sounds good
Martin made 91 of these before the war and and then didn't make it after
the war for some decades and this was the fanciest most expensive guitar
Martin made in those years right before the war
it's their basic dreadnought size and there is abalone pearl trim all around
the top border around the sides and around the back his back is Brazilian
rosewood as were most of the high-end Martin's that time even next to the to
the neck heel pearl trim and then it started with smaller inlays but then
most of that the 45 have these hexagonal large hexagonal inlays the first of
these guitars was made for Gene Autry singing star of the themes a radio star
in the thirties and then later one of the most successful of the cowboy movie
singers and his head his name on it and had a 12th fret neck instead of a 14
fret neck and the second one was made in 1932 the second one also had a 12th fret
neck and then from their own number 14 frets so Martin made a total of 91
of these and they're so rare that you even if it's got troubles it's worth
fixing up you can see there's there's been finished work and something going
on around the bridge here you can if you can't see that has been refinished
a little trick for vintage guitar dealers when you see
the plastic binding with cracks all checkered like that it means that it's
come in contact with finish tripped so that's a sign that it's been
refinished it has some work under the top a lot of things have been done to it
but it's still still the wonderful guitar and still you know one of the one
of the original 9145 still

"How do you take your tea?" I've had a lot
of trouble with making tea because I
don't do it very often, so I've not quite
figured out how I like it. Definitely
with cream and sugar.
Although since I don't do tea very often, I
don't really have cream in my apartment
very often and so I run into a problem
where I'll use milk instead, and to get
enough like of the creaminess from the
milk I have to put in so much that I
can't taste the tea as much, so I need
something thicker. And it's just this
whole ordeal, and so I don't make tea
very often because I've had these
problems, but if I made tea more often,
I wouldn't have them, so... "Have you ever
played Dungeons and Dragons?" I have
started a campaign with a group of
people and literally met once for
character creation and then we all like
got busy and never met again. So I have
not played I've just created a character.
"What's your favorite Christmas scent?"
I would have to say like a sugar cookie.
That's probably just because I like
sweets way too much. But yeah. Sugar cookie.
"What are you expecting from 2017?" Um, in
my personal life, I'm expecting 2017 to
be harder than 2016. Just like for me
personally. Because I will be graduating
and probably moving to a new city and
starting a job and I don't do very well
with transitions. So that is going to be...
something for me.
"Favorite music right now?" I love Dodie
Clark. Forever and always. And sometimes
it feels like that's the only music I
listen to, is her music. It's too good.
"What does growing up and becoming an
adult mean to you?"
Um, I think it's just being able to do
more and more things without having to consult
someone adultier than you. And then
eventually becoming that person that
someone else consults. And obviously it's
a massive transition throughout years
and years and years, but I guess that's
what it means to me.
"New year's resolution?" Read more books
and watch more movies. I can get very
very sucked into YouTube, to the point
that it's the only media I consume, and
so books and movies. I want to expand my
world a little bit.
"Favorite children's book?" I love
Madeline by Ludwig Bemelmans, I think?
"Do you have any tips for smaller content
creators who want to grow their channel
a bit and can't afford better equipment
and don't really want to spam people?"
This is an interesting question because
I don't feel like I'm that experienced
or like talented in channel-growing. What
has actually worked for me, as weird as
it may sound, is to be on Twitter a lot,
because 1) that's a way to connect to
other content creators who you can
collab with and just like be friends
with and like grow your channels
together, you know? But also on Twitter
you see larger YouTubers every once in a
while putting calls out for wanting to
feature people in their videos. Like I
was in Ash Hardell's ABCs of LGBT video.
And so that's often the kind of stuff
that you find out about on twitter that
could be kind of like your "big break"
quote-unquote. I don't know. I'm
definitely not the best at following
like the YouTube playbook or whatever to
gain subscribers or things like that, but
that's my advice. Also just making things.
Just putting up a video every week or
whatever. I noticed that when I started
putting up a video every week and
sticking to a schedule, my channel is
growing so... "Who do you think Milton and
Herbie were in their past lives?"
I love this question.
I think Milton could have been a very good cat.
He has the same kind of like "I'll be
affectionate with you when I want to" kind
of vibe. And Herbie was probably a goat.
That's what I'm going with. Herbie was a
goat in his past life. "If you had to
invent a sport with dragons in it
what kind of sport would it be?" It would
definitely be a sport that does not at
all involve humans and would be only
dragons playing a sport. Probably
involving their fire breath because how
could you not.
I think probably it would be played on a
field like Quidditch that's vertical as
well as horizontal, and there would be
two teams of dragons who each have a
fireball that they're trying to protect
and get to the other side and so each
team is on offense and defense at the
same time, because you're trying to score
with your ball while keeping the other
team from scoring with their ball. And I
guess scoring would be lighting
something on fire. Like, there'd be like a
goalpost that you have to get your
fireball to, and like engulf it in flames.
I don't know, this is just...

Dec 27 A Most Prosperous Year - Duration: 2:02.
Your Natchez History Minute is brought to you by Natchez National Historical Park.
In December, 1939, as the year drew to a close, the Natchez Democrat carried the headline
that it had been a prosperous one for Natchez.
Indeed, the paper noted that the city had witnessed the greatest growth it had experienced
in many years, with many events "placing Natchez before the World as a growing, progressive
city – symbolic of the spirit which has awakened its citizenship."
1939 was the year that the Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company - the south's first automobile
tire factory – opened.
Armstrong was a reflection of the largest industrial expansion under Mississippi's
new plan of balancing agriculture with industry.
The paper noted that the soon to be completed Mississippi river bridge was destined to make
Natchez the East and West crossroads of the southern half of the United States.
1939 also saw the completion of paving Highway 61 – which the Democrat called the great
traffic artery from Chicago to New Orleans.
Highway 84 was also paved to Meadville that year.
The city's new auditorium with a seating capacity of 2,500 was completed and dedicated
to the community spirit of Natchez.
The Spring Pilgrimage brought records of visitors to the city, resulting in almost unlimited
National publicity.
The Democrat went on to announce the greatest growth of new businesses the city had experienced
in two decades and the construction of several hundred new homes, including two new residential
subdivisions.
In an adjoining piece on the front page, the Natchez Democrat also announced that Hyde
R. Jenkins would be sworn in as the new sheriff of Adams County on Dec. 30th.
"Hi, I'm Stella Carby, Hyde R. Jenkins was my grandfather, and this has been your

Cramps in legs, also known as night leg cramps, especially calf-muscle cramps, are fairly
common.
Some people experience cramps in the muscles of their feet, as well
as their thigh muscles.
In most cases these types of cramps occur while the individual is sleeping or resting.
Most muscle cramps develop in the leg muscles,
particularly in the calf.
Besides the sudden, sharp pain, you might also feel or see a hard lump of muscle tissue
beneath your skin.
Causes of cramps in legs.
1.
Overuse of a muscle, dehydration, muscle strain or simply holding a position for a prolonged
period can cause a muscle cramp.
In many cases, however, the cause isn't
known.
Although most muscle cramps are harmless, some may be related to an underlying medical
condition.
2.
Inadequate blood supply.
Narrowing of the arteries that deliver blood to your legs (arteriosclerosis of the extremities)
can produce cramp-like pain in your legs and
feet while you're exercising.
These cramps usually go away soon after you stop exercising.
3.
Nerve compression.
Compression of nerves in your spine (lumbar stenosis) also can produce cramp-like pain
in your legs.
The pain usually worsens the longer you walk.
Walking in a slightly flexed position — such as you would use when pushing a shopping cart
ahead of you — may improve or delay the onset of your symptoms.
4.
Mineral depletion.
Too little potassium, calcium or magnesium in your diet can contribute to leg cramps.
Diuretics — medications often prescribed for high blood
pressure — also can deplete these minerals.
Risk factors behind cramps in leg.
1.
Age.
Older people lose muscle mass, so the remaining muscle can get overstressed more easily.
2.
Dehydration.
Athletes who become fatigued and dehydrated while participating in warm-weather sports
frequently develop muscle cramps.
3.
Pregnancy.
Muscle cramps also are common during pregnancy.
4.
Medical conditions.
You might be at higher risk of muscle cramps if you have diabetes, or nerve, liver or thyroid
disorders.

Yarn over, pull through, and now you have four loops on the hook.
Yarn over two, one.
Yarn over two more, two.
And yarn over the last two.
So you're basically doing that three times.
Let's do it again.
Yarn over twice and through, pull through two loops.
Yarn over again and pull through two loops.
Yarn over again and pull through the last two.
And there you have your triple crochet.
