World of Warships - Naval Fortress: Lytton - Duration: 13:55.
All continents and countries with access to the sea have always had naval fortresses.
Being both a country and a continent, Australia is no exception.
We are at Fort Lytton National Park. I'm passing through the entry into the fortifications themselves.
The fortifications are a pentagonal-shape series of earthworks, which were built in the 1880s,
primarily to protect the new port of Brisbane and new city.
Australia is obviously an isolated continent and it was part of the British Empire.
There was a British squadron in Sydney, the Royal Navy,
but that wasn't much protection for the entire continent.
In 1878, relations between Russia and England sharply deteriorated,
because England supported Turkey in the Russo-Turkish War.
As a result, Australia began to fear that the Russian Fleet would show up at its coast.
The key threat was not that the potential adversary would capture Australian territories,
but that it may conduct raids on the country's major ports:
Maryborough, Rockhampton, and Brisbane.
This is what people feared here—they feared a raid, not an invasion.
So each of the little colonies that were scattered along the coast felt that need for protection,
to be able to defend themselves if the British couldn't get here to help them.
To build a system of coastal defenses, the colonial administration invited British royal engineers.
Fort Lytton was designed by Lieutenant Colonel Peter Scratchley.
Its construction began in 1880 and continued for two years.
It's a rare fort in that this is inside the river,
and all the other forts around Australia are right on the edge of the coast.
So this one as you see has a moat around it, which is quite different to the other places.
Fort Lytton was constructed at the mouth of the Brisbane River,
about 20 km from the port of Brisbane.
The fort was to protect the city from enemy ships
if they attempted to break through to Brisbane along the river.
The fort covers an area of about 750 square meters and is surrounded by a moat.
Initially, Fort Lytton had four gun positions with 64-pounder muzzle loaders.
By the early 1890s, the first two positions were equipped with new 152-mm breech-loading guns,
and the muzzle loaders were placed on the newly built Positions 5 and 6.
The fort's artillery could engage enemy ships at a range of 7 km,
protecting the mouth of the river and the underwater minefield.
The mines were detonated via electric cables, laid along the bottom of the river.
A timber bridge across the moat led to the fort's entrance,
protected by gates that were reinforced with iron sheets.
Inside the fortress, there were casemates for Gun Pits 1 and 2 and a gunpowder magazine.
The magazine and the gun positions were connected by a corridor with brick passages.
Various prickly plants were growing around the battery,
providing additional concealment and serving as an obstacle.
It was operational by about 1882,
with muzzle-loading guns in all positions and a minefield out in the river.
These two guns are the original 64-pounder muzzle loaders for the fort.
They're the original heavy guns positioned in Gun Pits 3 and 4.
They were replaced by more modern breech loaders and were relocated here both for training purposes
and also to help protect the minefield, which was directly in front of us here, in the Brisbane River.
Training was provided to local volunteer units, which were called up and prepared for service by Lt. Col. Scratchley.
They formed the core of the garrison;
drills were constantly held in the fort, gun crews were prepared for warfare…
Prepare to fire!
Number 6 gun, fire!
An advanced solution for the time was a minefield, remotely activated with electricity,
which was installed in Fort Lytton shortly after the first incandescent lamp was invented.
The minefields here during the 19th century
were connected up to the fort on electrical connections,
and they could be exploded by electricity,
but there were ones that were actually submerged to the bottom of the river.
And they were held down; there were big chains and weights
on the bottom in a certain pattern. So vessels could actually sail over the top.
It was a case of just watching. That was the idea. You watched, you waited.
Someone was sitting at that tunnel, and if a ship was trying to get through,
they'd wait until it was over the top of the mine field, and then explode the mines.
We're in Gun Pit 1 of Fort Lytton National Park.
In Gun Pit 1 was sited the major artillery piece,
which was the 6-inch disappearing Armstrong gun.
The guns got their name because they were loaded under cover, in this lower position,
and then they were raised on a hydro-pneumatic cylinder ram, which lifted the 6-ton barrel above the parapet for firing.
If there was a lack of pressure in the ram itself, then these mechanisms could be pushed backwards
and forwards to help prime and pump up the air pressure to assist in the raising of the barrel.
Once the firing happened, then the recoil— the energy generated from the recoil—
would swing these big arms back down, and then use that energy to pump back up the cylinder again,
and be ready for its next loading and firing.
The magazines were near the gun positions.
Strict safety measures were taken here:
there was always the risk of an explosion when storing gunpowder charges and preparing rounds.
This is the black powder room of the fort.
This is one of the earliest parts of the construction of the fortifications.
This is where the gun powder was stored originally, and the shells and other projectiles were made up
before they passed through the loading galleries to the guns in Gun Pits 1 and 2.
Being black powder, there were very strict provisions to ensure that there weren't any explosions.
So people entering this room had to wear felt boots and overcoats to minimize sparks.
The lanterns were held in these recesses, which were opened, the lanterns were then lit.
Behind is a solid window, which meant that there was no chance of a spark going through or draft,
and then they were closed again.
And that allowed the illumination into where the black powder barrels were stored in the rooms behind us.
World War I battles were fought far away from Fort Lytton.
In those years, its key mission was to contain German merchant ships that happened to be in the harbor
and to be ready to open fire if an enemy attempted to enter the mouth of the river.
But by the early 1940s, Fort Lytton regained its importance in the Pacific region.
Maybe a million Americans went through here during the Second World War.
All American submarine fleets for the Pacific came out of here and at Fremantle.
Australian submarines, British, all the airfields that were being set up along
the Queensland coast and all the way up towards New Guinea,
all the supplies and everything came through here into Brisbane. So it was a major garrison during that time.
Facing a new enemy and new warfare tactics, Fort Lytton had to upgrade its armaments:
new guns were installed there.
This is a reproduction of a quick-firing twin 6-pounder gun, which was installed here during the Second World War.
By that time, the war, the tide of the war had changed a little,
and Australians were less concerned about invasion
and more about raids from either Japanese submarines or kamikaze-style fast moving motor torpedo boats.
This gun was not only very accurate, but it was also highly effective because it could fire up to 80 rounds per minute.
This is Gun Pit 4 of Fort Lytton National Park.
In Gun Pit 4, originally was the 64-pounder muzzle-loading guns,
and then it was replaced by the Hotchkiss guns in the early 1890s.
When the Second World War broke out, and the war against Japan,
in 1941 they rearmed this site by putting in this 4.7-inch ex-naval gun,
which was a gun that originally came from one of the warships, Australian warships, in the First World War.
The fort, while it was small, was the only way you could get up the river.
You had to come past it. So I guess they thought that
if push came to shove that this is where they would stand and this may be where they would fall as well.
But they would do their duty.
So I guess it provided a lot of morale boost for the local population.
However, Fort Lytton came out of World War II untouched, too.
In 1946, it was decommissioned as a coastal fortification.
The military stayed here until 1950, then the land was sold to an oil refining company.
Everything changed in the early 1990s.
Fort Lytton was declared as a National Park for its historical
and cultural values to the Australian people in 1989.
It's a very significant site for Australians, it not only is part of our military history,
but it's also a place of remembrance for the thousands of men and women
who trained here before going off to major campaigns, such as the Boer War,
the First World War, and the Second World War.

The Story Of Kwanzaa: From Civil Rights To Corporate America - Duration: 4:52.
Now you may have heard of Kwanzaa… that celebration that coincides with Christmas
and Hannukah.
You may have even been to a Kwanzaa celebration.
In the 80s and 90s, Kwanzaa was everywhere.
But do you really know what this holiday is about and why it started?
Let's jump back a few decades…
In 1965, tensions between black communities and law enforcement reached a boiling point
and Los Angeles saw the most violent urban riot in 20 years.
As the Watts Riots unfolded around him, LA-based PhD student and activist Maulana Karenga saw
an opportunity to restore unity in black communities and foster African American cultural institutions,
values and traditions.
So in 1966, Karenga created Kwanzaa with the purpose to help connect black Americans to
their African roots and with each other in the face of marginalization.
In fact, the name "Kwanzaa" even comes from a Swahili phrase... "matunda ya kwanza"
meaning "first fruits".
Karenga decided that this new holiday should fall in the seven day period between Christmas
and New Years.
He even added a second 'a' on the end of Kwanzaa to represent each of these seven
days.
Each day represents a different principle: namely, unity, self-determination, collective
responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith.
During Kwanzaa, Karenga wanted communities to celebrate by gathering together to light
candles and to join in a huge communal feast called karamu, inspired by a Zulu harvest
celebration.
Every celebration is different, but generally, families come together to light a kinara,
read poetry and dance to traditional African songs.
Karenga travelled the country spreading the word about this new holiday.
It then gained momentum through schools and colleges.
And pretty soon, families started adopting Kwanzaa into their yearly celebrations.
At first, many African American Christians were opposed to Kwanzaa, as they didn't
want it to be a replacement for Christmas.
But as Kwanzaa became more popular in the late 1960's, black Churches began to embrace
it, and the holiday became a supplement, rather than an alternative to Christmas.
Some churches even organized Kwanzaa celebrations.
But Kwanzaa really took off in the 1970s, as the black middle class started to grow.
After the 1964 Civil Rights Act outlawed race-based discrimination in employment, the number of
African American middle-income earners increased dramatically, and continues to grow into the
1980s and 90s.
As black families started to move into white suburban areas, they began to feel isolated
and Kwanzaa became a way for them to reconnect to their history and culture.
By 1995, the holiday was celebrated by an estimated 10 million Americans, compared to
just a few hundred when it was founded.
With Kwanzaa's cemented popularity, it didn't take long for corporate America to notice.
By the mid 1990's, an entire industry had formed around the holiday.
Companies like Heineken even created an advertisement around Kwanzaa's seven principles.
The slogan read "Unity, Purpose, Creativity, faith, Heineken Beer is Proud to celebrate
Kwanzaa and everything it stands for."
This was something that Karenga had specifically sought to avoid, saying "The challenge for
the African people is to avoid the problems of commercialization that they've learned
from other holidays like Christmas."
In fact, one of the seven principles of Kwanzaa is the importance of a self-sustaining, cooperative
economy between African Americans, one that emphasizes black owned businesses and discourages
mass commercialization.
But Kwanzaa's mass marketing appeal was somewhat short-lived.
By the mid-2000's paraphernalia started to disappear from shelves, and many adherents
abandoned the holiday as a yearly tradition.
Today, only 2 percent of Americans are believed to celebrate Kwanzaa, despite the fact that
African Americans now make up 13 percent of the population.
After five decades, Kwanzaa still stands as an important reminder of the historic challenges
that black America has overcome and it still remains a uniting force for millions.
Kwanzaa emerged out of the fight for equality during the Civil Rights movement.
Of course, social norms in the United States have changed somewhat since the 1960's,
but minorities still face greater challenges than their white counterparts.
To get a better sense of what discrimination in America looks like, check out this video.
If you're black in America, you run into bias at a pretty young age.
If you walk to school in the morning, you might have to wait longer to cross the street.
Drivers stop less frequently for black pedestrians than for white.

"We Have Another Offer" | How to Negotiate Against Other Real Estate Offers To Purchase - Duration: 3:37.
How's it going everyone?
Matt Leighton, welcome back to another video.
In this video, we're going to be talking about how to negotiate against another offer that
you may not know of was there in the first place.
We'll get into that in a second.
I'm here in Arlington, Virginia.
I have Courthouse in the back, set up on the bike trail.
Hopefully a little off the bike trail so people can still move by me.
Let's talk about negotiating.
And this is for when you submit an offer and you ask the agent, "hey do you have any other
offers?"
and they say 'No'.
And then a certain time period passes.
Maybe it's two hours, maybe it's two days and all of a sudden, there's another offer.
It's come out of the blue.
So how does that work out?
Well I think you have a couple different options to take.
And your mindset, if you have a jaded, sort of cynical mindset...that I think everything
around you will sort of turn into cynical and jaded as well.
So if you think that they are making up another offer, then in your mind, that will actually
occur and you will think there is no other offer.
And the way it comes down to it is like, 99% of real estate agents are ethical and follow
the rules.
There's always that 1% that will bend the truth if that's even a thing...aka lie and
be unethical.
In my mind, I just always assume there's going to be another offer even if they say "No other
offers" so when they come back and say 'Oh yeah we just have this offer we pulled out
of thin air."
I already know that that's coming.
So in that scenario, I think you have three main options.
The first is you can completely ignore it.
You can assume another offer is already coming.
There's already going to be another offer and you can present your offer and the strengths
of your offer will be there if there was no offers or if there were 5 offers.
So the first thing you can do is ignore it.
You can assume it's coming and ignore it.
The second thing you can do is revise your offer and submit your best-and-final offer.
This one is kind of tricky because when you're submitting your initial offer, it's probably
a pretty competitive offer.
And then they say, "Oh yeah, we have another offer, that's a really good offer."
First of all, if they have another offer that's really good, why don't they just take that
other offer?
That's maybe for another video.
So the second option is to revise your initial offer to a best-and-final offer to avoid any
bidding wars.
And you kind of submit and say, "hey, this is our best-and-final.
Take it or leave it.
We'd love to work with you if not, we're going to walk away."
This one is tricky because let's say they do want to work with you and they come back
and counter your offer.
Now what has happened?
You've submitted your initial offer.
Then you've negotiated against yourself.
Something you never want to do.
Then they've come back and countered a third time.
So now the seller has the upper hand.
Even though they do want to work with you because they are countering with you, kinda
be weary about that second decision.
And then the third decision I think you have is really go for it and submit an escalation
clause.
If you don't know what an escalation clause is or how to use one.
I'll put a little link here so you can check out a video on the escalation clause.
And this is a scenario where you pretty much put your cap.
It's kind of like eBay in a sense where you're willing to bid the highest, but your inital
offer is the lowest.
Another offer has to be there to bid up your offer.
And this is kind of like a bidding war.
I don't even like using that term because you've already told the sellers what you're
willing to pay and they can only take that offer of what you're willing to pay, if there's
another competiting offer that is as high as your escalation clause.
So, when you're submitting an offer...and there's no other offer, then all of a sudden
the listing agent says, "Oh yeah, we have 5 other offers, do you want to try again?"
I think you have a couple avenues to take.
You can ignore.
You can submit your best-and-final.
And then you can do the escalation clause.

I've found a great channel: Sara Tepes's channel *trying to prounounce her name correctly*.
She's very talented! She uses a software that I really don't know!
It's called Krita.
It was very interesting so I've been on the website,
and there, I've seen that Krita was a free, professional and open source software
which means that everybody can add and propose feature.
I wanted to try,
It was a good opportunity to discover Krita with you,
so I've jumped over my computer to make a quick video :)
So, let's see! I'll take the portable version, as for Paint Tool Sai

To make a clean line this one is great!
Knowing that this is the basic brush pack that comes with Krita,
but I've seen that Sara has put in her videos some links to new ones.
I feel that like in PTS, there's a little lag between what I draw and what I see,
But it looks that there's a stabilizer to avoid your line from shaking.
There's an automatic smoothing also,
and this is a great feature I had already liked a lot in PTS.
This is a must to ink comics and all.

All of this stuff looks like the basic photoshop functions but centered on art only.
Photoshop is quite "cold" next to this kind of software.
It seems easy to put a layer in the bin, and to create a new one,

Fusion modes, multiply! Yesss! Here they are!
Screen, Lighten, saturation! great! Like in Photoshop!
You can tag them with a color to find them more easily..

Yep, that's it, the angle I make with my stylus. Krita uses inclination.

Pfff. Let's start with that, nevermind.
About the zooming shortcut, ctrl + and ctrl - are for zoom in and out. Great!
But I'm not a big fan of
the zoom rate...
Like in photoshop, it's stays clean only with the "*5 %*. I mean: 25, 50, 75% zoom...
If you use another zoom (33%, etc... the image will be pixellized.
Here I use 66.7, and it's not really clean.
Luckilly, the shortcuts seem to bring you most of the time at the good zoom rate.

I've got to many habits/shortcuts in Photoshop.
Some little things annoyed me a lot, but it's certainly because Idon't know Krita enough...
I would have loved to rotate the canvas, Idon't know where it is :P

I'm quite sure it exists somewhere but I've missed it a lot.
What annoyed me too hat the color picker shortcut .
It's the P key, but when you use it,
you pic the new color but you have to use the B key to use the brush tool again.
Wha I like in photoshop is that you press alt, chose your color and release to go back to your previous tool, that's all.
I've lost a lot of time just because of this.
What else?
Many things but not so important.
It would have been better to take notes haha!
I think you have to find THE brush that blends like you like, because mine wasn't blending enough and it was annoying.
This was the main thing I wanted to test, because that's what I prefer in PTS.
Aso, to change your brush size, we can't really see what's happening.
When you want to change the size, you use the slider, you test, change the slider, test again...
until your are satisfied. It wasn't easy.
What else?
The layer is similar to photoshop. There's even this great function with the little padlock:
It permits to draw something (then you activate the padlock icon)
and if you ever want to work on this area only, tada! If Iremove the padlock..
it doesn't work anymore. It was really useful at the beginning for the sink.
My drawing is a kind of big fail, you've seen how it was complicated for me sometimes I think :P
But clearly, if I forget my personnal habits, for a FREE software...
I think you can make great things, like with PTS!
It allows you many things to illustrate,
and when you see how much Photoshop costs...
So I'd say, try it! If you ever go back to photoshop after this you won't be lost I think since the functions are quite similar.

I say it once again: Photoshop CS2is also available for free on adobe's website!

Hi there have made this short video to save You some money on transmission service.Even I strongly recommend to do it every 40-50 K
If You have transmission shifting problems on Hondas this can help - sometimes :)
This one comes from Honda prelude 97-2000 , to do this in the car You need to remove battery and bracket that holds battery 12mm socket.
Remove 6 10mm bolts that hold dual solenoid,try not to damage gasket.
Then remove little pipes and see how dirty are screen filters at the end that goes into transmission,clean them up.
Then remove solenoids on the top and check them too
Then check the rest of solenoids for leaks in case You find some replace o-rings.
I make my videos for people with some mechanical knowledge so don't ask me silly questions just use Your brain and common sense - good luck enjoy my crickets :)
