Hey, guys.
Welcome back.
I'm Courtney and this is Phaedra.
For those of you who don't know, she is a standard poodle and she's my angel.
I'm back from my trip to Las Vegas for Cosmoprof and I want to talk about some of my favorite
brands that I met at the event.
One of the most exciting brands that I ran across at Cosmoprof was Contours RX.
They make these Lids by Design contour correcting strips.
This is what I have on my eyes right now.
It basically creates the illusion of an eye lift without having surgery so it makes my
hooded eyes not so hooded.
I am wearing the extreme size, a size seven because I like how that makes my lids look.
I think it's really cool and I am planning on featuring her company more on my channel
because I love this product and it works for my eyes.
I will have a video up to show you how to put these on and if you're in my Facebook
group, you've already seen my video of how to apply these so I'm really excited.
To me this is a really cool product for a couple of reasons.
One, if you're not somebody who wants to have surgery done to change the shape of your
eye, you can try these and see what you think of it.
If you're somebody who's thinking about surgery then you can try these and see whether
or not you like it.
If you're somebody who just wants to do it on occasion, this is a great option too.
If you're somebody who has asymmetrical eyes where maybe one eye is hooded and the
other eye isn't, this might be a good option for you.
There are different sizes.
I think they run from three-millimeter to eight-millimeter so like I mentioned, I'm
wearing a seven right now.
In my Facebook group earlier today, I put on a four to give you an idea of what it looked
like.
I really love this extreme lid.
I think it looks really cool on me.
The number one question that I got about this product is can you wear eyeshadow with it?
They do make an eyeshadow primer so you can wear eyeshadow with it.
It has to be matte eyeshadow.
I only put eyeshadow on the crease of my eye with this today to see how it would look and
I'm just … I don't know.
I'm really thrilled with how my eyes look at the moment so that's why it's really
exciting for me personally because this is really cool for people who have hooded eyes
and they just want to change their eye shape.
The next brand that I got really excited over is Dr. Paw Paw.
This is an Australian brand and basically they make a multipurpose balm that is good
for everything.
If you are long-time fans of Phyrra, you will know that I swear by the Bite Beauty Agave
Lip Mask and I may never purchase that lip mask again because this works just as well
if not better than that lip mask for my lips.
When I was in Vegas, I used this on my lips at night to hydrate them and woke up with
my lips actually feeling nice and plump.
This is 100% vegan product so I think it's great and in addition to coming in clear,
it comes in different colors.
The three tinted colors are meant to be used as lip and cheek colors.
The peachy pink works basically with your own natural coloring so it may be more peach
on one person, more pink on another person.
The red is a nice classic red so if you just want to give yourself a just bitten kind of
stain, that's what I would do with the red and then I believe the red with gold glitter
is a holiday color that they released.
The original clear balm is amazing.
For me, like I said, it hydrated my dry lips.
I've been using it every night since I got it and it's a huge tube.
You can also use it on things like if your legs chafe from rubbing together or if you
have diaper rash or if you have dry spots in your elbows or anywhere in your body, it's
just a really great product and the owners of Dr. Paw Paw said that some people will
actually take this product and put it all over their face.
I read something about people doing that on skin care addiction on Reddit which sounded
interesting but it's a really great product and I love it to bits.
They're also coming out with a version of this that has shea butter instead of petroleum
because I guess some people don't like petroleum.
Basically, the ingredients are pretty simple.
It's petroleum, olive oil, papaya fruit extract and then aloe vera juice.
The company that I was most excited about that was going to be at Cosmoprof was Eva
NYC.
You know that I love Eva NYC.
I used them recently in a hair tutorial video.
I've done a lot of reviews and roundups of them on my blog.
I really love their products, they're cruelty-free, they're Leaping Bunny certified.
They've got a great price point.
They're easy to find because they're on Ulta so I love their stuff.
I have their, what is this, their texture spray sitting right here.
I have their Mane Magic which is their blow dry spray that I like to use.
Basically, I have a ton of their products and I really, really like them.
I got to go meet the people who work for their company and was beyond excited about that.
I took a lot of pictures and they gave me a sample of their hair mask so I'm really
looking forward to using this.
They gave me some of their really cool little fly away things which I've tried these before.
These are great just to stick in your purse and if you have fly away hairs, you basically
just use the little cloth and smooth everything down.
It's really useful and that's something you really don't think about.
I was thrilled to talk with them and hopefully I will be doing something with them in the
future.
The next company I spent a lot of time talking to was the owner of Saffron Secret.
This is a really great hair product and basically this is a color protection natural sheen and
UV shine guard.
Not sure if you can see this but it's a gel formula and it smells really good.
Slightly on the masculine side.
It's got a jelly texture so when you run it through the ends of your hair, it makes
it feel really, really soft and I think it basically protects the ends and it's obviously
made with saffron because the name is Saffron Secret which I think of cooking with saffron.
I don't really ever think of putting in here but it apparently is great for your hair.
The next product that had me very excited was by Skin Yoga and this is a serum, you
know I'm a serum junkie, I love serums.
What's really interesting about this particular serum is that it's made with coconut cream
and I only recently learned how you make coconut cream.
It's very similar to the process to how you make cheese so basically I think you take
the coconut milk and you heat it up and you separate the curds and whey which basically
is the coconut milk and then the coconut cream stuff and then you reduce it down.
I mean it's a whole process and I was reading about it and I was like, "That's really
cool.
I know it's like making cheese because I have helped my husband to make cheese before.
This stuff feels really good.
It's also got very simple ingredients.
It's basically made with coconut cream, ginger and orange peel.
It feels so nice on the skin.
The next brand that I thought looked really amazing was Hot Tresses and they're an Australian
brand and they actually have coolest display which was this gigantic seashell with sand
in it.
It felt very mermaidy.
They have a lot of hair products.
They gave me samples of their shampoo and leave-in conditioner and then their intensive
hydrating mask.
I'm looking forward to giving this a try too but they're cruelty-free and they're
100% vegan so it was really cool to meet with them and talk with them and see what they
were interested in.
The next brand that I want to show you is Manna Kadar beauty and they're another Leaping
Bunny certified brand and the reason I was so excited about this brand is because the
owner loves poodles as much as I do.
On this palette, on the front down here and inside, her poodle which just, I don't know
thrilled me because I love poodles, I love my Phaedra and also I like the fact that these
looked like more cool tone shades rather than warm shades.
I actually feel like I can wear some of these browns.
I can't wait to review this.
There were a couple brands that I spoke to there that I didn't get samples from that
I think you would be really excited to know about.
One of which is Cle Cosmetics and they have a cushion foundation that appears to be light
enough for my skin tone.
I think every other cushion foundation that I've ever seen has been way too dark or
not cruelty-free and Cle Cosmetics is basically taking Korean beauty but making it American
and cruelty-free.
They also have these lip powders that are a powder to liquid matte formula that looks
so cool.
I shared them on Instagram and hopefully you saw them but if not hopefully, I will have
a sample of them sooner so I can show that to you so they look so cool.
One of the other companies that I met there was Milk and Sass.
They make this cute little macaroons which are basically like a tangle teeze brush and
a mirror to fit in your purse.
How cute is that?
This is a very practical useful little thing that I actually will keep in my purse.
I like that it comes in this super hot pink color.
Then I spoke with the Dream Water people and I'm very intrigued about this.
This is supposed to basically be a zero calorie beauty sleep drink and have collagen support
in it.
It's supposed to be really good for you.
I can't wait to give this a try.
I'm really curious about this.
How do you feel about drinkables like this?
Do you think this is a good idea, a bad idea?
The only thing I think I have left to show you are a couple of the bags so for the Beauty
After Dark event, they gave us this Discover Beauty Bag which is a Discover Beauty After
Dark and then Cosmoprof.
It's a really nice high-quality bag.
I actually put most of the stuff that I received into this bag and my suitcase so that nothing
would spill during travel.
This bag that I got from BIOTOP.
I don't know anything about this brand.
I don't know if it's cruelty-free.
Somebody just handed me this bag and I was like, "This is really cool."
This got everybody's attention.
Everybody wanted to know where to get this bag because they were in love with it.
It's basically like this iridescent color so it's a white base with a pink violet
turquoise shift and it's gorgeous so it came home with me.
Now, this was my first time going to Cosmoprof.
It was only my second time going to Las Vegas.
While I was there, I stayed at the Palazzo.
The Palazzo hosted me which was awesome.
I have a whole blog post talking about my experience at the Palazzo if you're interested
in that.
I'll make sure to leave a link in the description box below so you can check it out and I'll
put a link up here so you can go check it out if you want to just do that.
Either way, I really liked it.
I took a lot of really, I think, beautiful pictures especially of their art installations.
They have Another Sky art installation which is 33 miles of ribbon into an art display
and then they have the love sculpture which is this huge red, L-O-V-E sculpture that I
took pictures in front of it in a waterfall and personally I think the pictures I took
look pretty freaking amazing so you should check that out.
I was really excited by it.
My hotel experience was great.
Going to Cosmoprof was pretty good.
It was much better than Gen Beauty.
I like that I really got to, one, network with other beauty bloggers, talk with them,
meet a lot of my friends face-to-face so that was really cool.
Two, I got to talk with brand owners and actually see what they were interested in.
They were interested in hearing what I do and what I'm interested in.
It was really nice to be able to connect to find if there's ways that we can collaborate
or partner together in the future.
I felt like it was a really worthwhile trip for me whereas with Gen Beauty, I didn't
really have that experience.
It wasn't positive.
Cosmoprof was definitely very positive for me.
It was also very draining because I'm really an introvert so for me, basically I was putting
myself out there and I was on the entire time I was in Las Vegas.
Now, Cosmoprof didn't have as many people like, say, Dragon Con.
I think there was like 37,000 people there, 1,500 booths, something like that.
We did a ton of walking.
According to my Bellabeat, we did, I think … Let me think.
I think they said the entire time I was gone, I did 20.1 miles and that was 49,000 steps.
I did a ton of walking, a ton.
Every night, my legs were tired and my lower back hurt but my feet didn't hurt so that
was good.
We were just always constantly on the move so it was very physically draining and then
very emotionally and mentally draining for me because I was around all of these people.
I'm entirely grateful to Emily from Haus of Hounds and Stef from We Heart This for
making it a really pleasant time because my friend, Jen from My Beauty Bunny was supposed
to be there but she was sick and wasn't able to make it so I hang out … The four
of us planned to hangout but it was just the three of us and I'm eternally grateful to
Emily and Steph for helping me to have a good time because I went there by myself and I
normally don't travel by myself.
It's very scary for me to go somewhere.
It's very uncomfortable for me to go somewhere without Ray or without somebody to be a buddy
with me the entire time and Jen was going to be my buddy so I'm really glad that basically
Emily and Steph were my buddy because I had a wonderful time.
We had a blogger meet up at The Dorsey which is inside The Venetian which is the hotel
that's connected to the Palazzo.
It was amazing.
It is like the perfect place to network because there's music, but it's not too loud and
there's a really great ambiance and environment because it's dark but it's not too dark
so you're not tripping over furniture.
They have this great conversation piece which is this steam fireplace so it's not really
fire but it's steam coming up to look like fire which is really freaking cool.
They had amazing drinks so basically it's the perfect place to network because you can
have good drinks, you have this ambiance going on.
You can hear the person next to you.
You don't have to shout.
It was just really a great time.
I really loved it.
That is what a networking event is supposed to be like where you can hear the person next
to you without screaming.
I just overall had a really positive experience and I would love to do it again.
Once I got home from Cosmoprof and I didn't get home … I basically traveled all day
Tuesday and didn't get home until 3:00 a.m. my time Wednesday morning.
Once I got home, I just pretty much passed out and tried to sleep and then when I got
up, I had to deal with a bunch of stuff for work and my clients because remember blogging
is not my full-time job, I have a full-time job that I'm also working whenever I'm
doing all of this stuff.
I had to basically catch up on all of that and that's what I did on Thursday and Friday
and then I took the weekend off.
I just tried to recharge.
Then I came back at my blog on Monday and I was like, "I got a blog post up," and
I knocked out two reviews.
Then I knocked out two reviews for my blog and so now I'm making a video so I'm sorry
it's taking me so long to make a video but I basically was not able to get a video done
when I wanted to get one done before.
Anyway, that's what's been going on with me, that's how my trip to Vegas was.
It was amazing.
What's been going on with you?
