Is the Richtofen end game canon as of the end of Black Ops 3 and the comics?
No.
Can it be?
Yes.
Hey everyone, RADAUSTIN27 back here for another zombie video.
Today I want to explain why the Richtofen ending isn't canon yet in the zombie storyline,
but why it can be.
I started seeing this comment pop up on my most recent videos coving the Revelations'
ending.
Let me take you back to the buried endings first.
When the map released in July of 2013 we quickly found out the end game Easter egg that was
hidden within the game.
I did some digging to find which side was completed first, which was the Maxis side
interestingly enough.
The reason I bring up which side was completed first is because an argument was presented
saying the proper canon is the first side that was completed, which would agree with
the timeline.
Jump forward to May 4th, 2017, where Jason Blundell visits Jcbackfire to reveal Zombie
Chronicles and the timeline.
On the timeline we can see that the buried ending takes place directly after the Maxis
End game.
Maxis plucks Samantha out of Richtofen's body on Moon to join him in Agartha.
Samantha realizes that her father in this dimension is corrupted by the Dark Aether.
She decides to reach out to another version of her father when a rift opens in Dimension
63.
What that means is Evil Buried Maxis took over their universe.
He imprisoned Richtofen in a zombie body and sacrifices the earth.
Samantha sees how crazy her father is and gets help from Origins Maxis who opens a rift
when they are experimenting through the Origins map.
If you play the games through you most likely can put together the rest of the storyline
that is shown on the timeline.
If not I might make another video at another time.
What I want to fill you in on is what the Tranzit crew or Vicitis was up to.
At the end of Buried Primis Richtofen opens a portal to save them.
They then go on their 6 comic quest to retrieve the Krononrium for Richtofen.
You might ask, what of zombie Richtofen!?
He is present throughout the comics gathering the blood viles for the end of Revelations
and pushing Vicitis in the right direction.
On the time line it reads "Primis Richtofen begins to manipulate Stuhlinger, opening a
rift for Vicitis to begin their new journey.
Pursued by undead Richtofen and an army of the undead, Victis enters the rift."
Vicitis leaves before Maxis destroys earth.
Before we move on from Maxis's ending I want to bring up why Vicitis will most likely
be in the game.
The final words of Vicits's journey on the storyline reads "After delivering the blood
to his younger self and recovering the blood vials belonging to Victis he returns.
Victis is placed 'on ice', to be kept safe until they are needed next.".
The wording seems like clear foreshadowing to me.
There is no reason to put the crew in statis to never use them again.
The comics go into great detail in fleshing out these characters in what I believe is
Treyarch's hope to get players to like them more when they return.
Jason even drops hints in his interviews from Zombie Chronicles that Mob of the Dead was
developed to be playable as full island.
When asked further about Mob of the Dead and if it would be remastered Jason purposely
leaves his answers ambiguous like he did after his COD XP panel.
In that panel he used the phrasing swan song to zombies to hint at us that Zombie Chronicles
was coming.
He uses the same ambiguous phasing saying there is more in store for MOTD.
It is no coincidence that the Vicitis crew is
stored underneath Mob of the Dead.
Based on all the information it is very clear that we will be getting Mob of the Dead Remaster
while playing as the Vicitis crew at some point.
At the very least we will get an intro cutscene where the group starts at MOB of the Dead
only to leave it for their next map.
It seems more likely that they will show up in Mob of the Dead as a pre-order bonus map
just like how The Giant was presented in Black ops 3.
Now that we understand the Maxis ending and where it is going let's talk about the Richtofen
ending.
Many commenters have asked if that ending is canon or not.
I honestly forgot it wasn't canon until I started researching for this video.
Richtofen's ending is when Richtofen goes into Stews body.
It is believed that they fight until they all die, in which Richtofen should return
to his position of power or be erased from existence with Stew.
Having Richtofen die at the end of his Buried End Game can fit perfectly into the timeline
and Dr. Monty's plan.
As I discussed in detail in a previous video Dr. Monty is looking to get rid of all of
characters and their many versions.
In Black Ops 3, we see each of the music trailers killing off many different versions of our
characters.
It seems that Dr. Monty wants to kill off all of our characters in hopes of gaining
control over his perfect world.
Richtofen's Buried end game could represent yet another dimension being closed off.
But that isn't where it ends for the possibilities for Buried's Richtofen endgame!
In fact, a made a video months ago discussing some of the possibilities which you can see
linked in the description of the video or in the cards.
The video is a bit dated, but the fundamental principles still apply!
We know that there are events occurring in the canon story that do not show up on the
timeline.
The Revelation's cipher reveals a battle between our Primis group and Dr. Monty where
they hide the children from him.
We know from The Giant radios that there are versions of our crews running around killing
one another.
There is even the idea that the Buried End Game can represent a way to break the cycle
that is established in Black Ops 3.
The next instalment of zombies could even be continuing after the Buried End game, but
that isn't as likely because Jason explained that they put brackets on the old games.
What Treyarch did was allow themselves to write in more to the end game if they choose
in the future, but for now that dimension is dead.
No more need for more to come of that ending.
It happened, but it didn't have a strong impact because Richtofen messed up.
