No, You Don't Have a "Reptilian Brain" - Duration: 6:00.

[ ♪ Intro ]

You might have come across articles like How to Make Friends Using Your Reptilian Brain

or Overcome Your Reptile Brain to Lose Weight.

And if they seemed to make a lot of sense…

Well, I'm sorry to be a spoilsport,

but the idea that humans have a primitive reptile brain deep down there somewhere is largely false.

It is based on a tiny bit of truth, though, which might explain why it's stuck around for half a century.

This 'reptile brain' nonsense started in the sixties when neuroscientist Paul MacLean proposed the Triune Brain Theory.

He was trying to explain how animal brains evolved and

why some animals, like us, could reason or plan but others couldn't.

MacLean thought that these more complex abilities came from extra brain layers added on top of a primitive, instinctive brain base,

like a juicy dumpling is wrapped inside a pastry.

The brain's core was called the protoreptilian complex.

Hence, "reptile brain".

And it's the name MacLean gave to what we now call the basal ganglia,

a group of neurons at the very centre of the brain.

As the name suggests, this region supposedly explained the behavior of reptiles.

MacLean thought it was the neural seat of motor control

as well as instinctual behaviors like defending territory.

Wrapped around the reptile brain was the paleomammalian complex or limbic system,

which was largely in charge of emotions.

And because emotions are important for things like social relationships, parental care, bonding and empathy,

MacLean thought this system was especially important to early mammals.

The final layer to be added on was what MacLean describes as the neomammalian complex, a.k.a. the neocortex,

which is the 6-layered tissue that makes up the majority of the folded,

"brainy"-looking part of our brains called the cerebral cortex.

This, which is much bigger in "higher" mammals like us and our primate relatives,

is what he thought gives us language, reason and conscious perception of the outside world.

And according to this theory, each of these layers acts as a separate quote "brain".

So when you get angry and lash out at a potential rival, that's your reptile brain taking over,

but when you ponder the great wonders of the world, your neomammalian brain is in charge.

Which is why some pop-psychology articles talk about reigning in your reptilian brain,

though that's not really what MacLean was going for.

In some ways, the Triune Brain Theory is kind of true, but it's also pretty wrong.

MacLean was kind of right that different parts of the brain have somewhat different tasks,

but his groupings weren't perfect.

Those quote "reptilian" basal ganglia do help us form habits,

and they play a big role in controlling voluntary movements.

But they're also involved in emotions and executive functions like self control.

For example one part, the nucleus accumbens, is a big player in the brain's reward circuit.

As for the limbic system, that paleomammalian part, it is heavily involved in emotion and bonding,

thanks largely to a structure called the amygdala.

But the term "limbic system" is kind of falling out of favor because neuroscientists

can't really agree what's actually in it.

Some neuroscientists consider the orbitofrontal cortex, the part of the brain that helps make decisions,

to be in the limbic system, too, because it's tightly connected to other parts of it.

Or they use a more encompassing term, the paralimbic system, instead.

Others just stick to functional networks within the entire cerebral cortex,

which includes both the limbic system and that neomammalian neocortex.

Speaking of which, MacLean was right that the neocortex is a big part of our reasoning, speech and cognitive abilities,

but as the majority of the cerebral cortex,

it's kind of got its fingers in all the neural pies.

And it's not required for intelligence.

Octopus can perform some really tricky cognitive tasks

like remembering how to get out of a maze without a shred of neocortex.

Also, MacLean's names for these so-called brains aren't great either

because they don't really have anything to do with the animals they're named after.

That 'reptile brain' didn't first appear in reptiles,

and the limbic system isn't unique to mammals.

In fact, most animals with backbones, including fish and amphibians, have basal ganglia and a limbic system.

And "lower" mammals like mice do have a neocortex.

There's even evidence that other animals have a neocortex of sorts.

Their brains contain the same types of cells as the ones in our neocortex,

they just aren't arranged in 6 layers.

That might explain how birds, which are actually reptiles, care for their young or have linguistic abilities.

What differs between brains isn't who has what so much as their relative size and shape.

And it's not even fair to say that these regions are most developed in those groups of animals.

While it's true that our neocortex is a lot bigger than a mouse's, even accounting for body size,

some of the structures in primate basal ganglia and limbic systems are also larger and more complex.

So they aren't just hold overs from our more primitive ancestors.

But perhaps the biggest problem with the Triune Brain Theory is the idea that these different "brains" work independently, or even linearly.

We don't have three separate brains, we have one big coordinated one.

Brain activity underlying a behavior may start in one specific area, but it'll soon spread as other parts help out,

an idea known as distributive processing.

And that's how that neocortex has its fingers in all the pies.

Let's say some really attractive person starts hitting on your partner, and that makes you livid.

Those feelings of rage might start with activity in the amygdala, a part of that "limbic system".

But then other parts of the cerebral cortex including neocortical areas

can either increase or decrease the probability that you'll flip out based on cues from the environment.

And the basal ganglia, particularly the nucleus accumbens,

play a key role in deciding what you actually do with all your anger

by integrating information from both the neocortex and the limbic system.

So your jealous rage isn't your territorial, protoreptilian complex taking control,

it's multiple parts of your brain working in concert.

To cut MacLean some slack though, his theory reflected the knowledge neuroscientists had at the time.

Like many scientific theories, it evolved and became outdated

as scientists got new information through neuroimaging and behavior studies.

So, although MacLean was on the right track in terms of understanding how brain structure relates to function,

he got a lot wrong when it comes to how those structures work together

and the evolution of animal brains.

And ultimately, that means you don't need to worry about trying to control your reptilian brain

because it doesn't exist!

Thanks for watching this episode of SciShow!

And if you like learning about brains and how they work,

you might want to check out our sister channel SciShow Psych.

And while reigning in your inner reptile might not be the way to keep your emotions in check,

you can learn more about how to actually do that in our Psych episode on controlling emotions.

"GIVING UP HURTS" [REAL-LIFE ENGLISH #10] - Duration: 10:47.

This video is going to be very quick

I believe that this video will be quick because

I am at the park right now, I am waiting for my girlfriend

But I got here one hour in advance

I don't know why, I may not know how to calculate time

properly, because I left home a long time before

the time that I was supposed to be here

and I'm sure that she'll get here late...I arrived here one hour before

the time that we agreed and I believe that she'll get here late, but that's ok because I love her

and yeah, it's raining now

It has just started raining, unfortunately

I'm just waiting for her here because she's coming by bus

We probably won't be able to stay here at the park because it's raining

I'll probably just pick her up and take her to a different place

but I'm not going to tell you where I'll take her

because there are some kids who watch my channel

and this is a family-friendly channel

So, I'm going to take her to the cinema!!

Yes! That's eactly what I was thinking about ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

But anyway, I'm here by myself, waiting for my girlfriend

and there's nothing to do, so

So, I started watching some episodes of cartoons here

on my cellphone, because

there is free Internet here

at the park

and I was watching some episodes of Dragon Ball

I don't know if you've watched Dragon Ball

I believe that most of my subscribers don't watch Dragon Ball

I'm not sure of that

But, it's one of my favourite cartoons

of all time, really, seriously

and now I've just seen the last episode

of the series for the fourth time

and it represents a lot to me

This cartoon represents a lot to me

I'm not going to give you any spoilers

or anything...I'm not going to talk about the cartoon

or the plot, especifically, because

It's not really my intention, but

I need to talk to you about my favourite character

in the series...His name is Vegeta

Some of you may not know who vegeta is

Therefore, you may not know why is is my favourite character ever

I'll tell you why and you don't even need to have watched any episodes of Dragon Ball before

First, let me describe Vegeta for you

So, this is Vegeta

I'm going to add his picture here

on the screen when I edit the video

I want the video to be quick, so

so, in a nutshell, Vegeta is pure pride

He basically never gives up

He says whatever he wants to say

Whenever he wants to say that

If you've seen the series, you know that at the beginning of it, he was a villain

but throughout the series, throughout the years he has changed a lot

Now he's married, he's got two children

He's got a daughter and a son

and I can say that he would die to defend his family

and his wife

actually he has already died once to save his family

Many people don't like him because he doesn't represent the "politically correct" behaviour"

When he has an objective he will do whatever it takes to reach it, no matter what

He is ruthless

You'll probably think I'm a nerd now because I remember some of his quotes

and I remember that once he said:

"There is no such thing as fair or unfair in a battle. There is only victory or defeat"

So this guy was really ruthless

Some people believe that he still has evil feelings

deep inside his heart

But I don't think so. I don't see it that way.

I see Vegeta as a representation of strength, pride and determination

as a man who loves and takes care of his family, no matter what

He is definitely not naturally the strongest one but he will do whatever it takes to get stronger

and stronger, he will never give up

trying to become stronger every day

He works hard in order to learn a new skill

but by the time he learns a new skill

He is not satisfied with that new skill because

he wants to learn another one

and another one and another one

so on and so forth

Perhaps that's what defines him best

Hard work

He knows that without hard work

Nothing comes to him easily

"Nothing that is truly worth having comes easily"

I'm going to read here some of his most inspirational quotes

and that will give you an idea of why I look up to his character

so much, and why he is my favourite character ever

Once he said:

"Even the mightiest warriors experience fear. What makes them true warriors is the courage that they possess to overcome their fears"

I like this quote because it is saying that we shouldn't ignore the fact, yes, sometimes

we are afraid of certain things

but we need to face our fears and overcome them

Overcoming our fears is what makes us victorious

In order to corroborate that he also said:

"I do not fear this new challenge. Rather, like a true warrior I will rise to meet it"

I like the idea of having new challenges in my life

and even though it might be scary

I should simply stand up and do it. Just do it.

Fight for it, dive into the challenge

and welcome the challenge

He also said:

"I can always become stronger"

Yeah, I know, it's a simple quote, but

That's what I think. I can always improve...

I bring this quote to my reality. I can always get better and better

So, if I'm learning a new language

There's a process and I've got to go

on this journey, step by step, I know about that. I need to celebrate every new word

that I learn

but when I learn a new word, it's time to learn another one

and practice these two words together

and then learn another one

Then I'll know three words, so it's time to learn the fourth word

and the fifth word, you know

I can always get better and better

I shouldn't be satisfied with one word or two words. I want to know them all

So, I can always improve

"I can always become stronger"

every day, constantly

No pain, no gain

Oh by the way, about pain, he said:

"Push through the pain. Giving up hurts more"

"Push through the pain. Giving up hurts more"

It takes me back so long ago

I remember that when I was 14 years old

I was the fastest kid in my school

So I was invited by a professional coach to become an athlete

and take part in professional competitions

Even to this day I've got many medals that I won in this period of my life

Once there was a running competition

the 100 meter dash

and I was great at this kind of race

I qualified to the final.

Seriously, I was among the best runners

under the age of 18 in England

but before the final race, I hurt my right knee

and I cried like a baby because it hurt like hell

So I talked to my coach and I gave up the competition

I gave up running the final race

I decided not to run the final race

Ok. Then the final race happened

and the boy who won it made it in 13 seconds

After the race was over

I felt that my knee was getting better

I asked my coach if I could run this 100 meter sprint just to see if I would have won it if I had run it

then I ran the 100 meter race

by myself and I asked my coach to check my time

I made it in 11 seconds

2 seconds faster than the boy who won it

then when I watched the episode that Vegeta said:

"Push through the pain. Giving up hurts more"

I suddenly remembered the day of that race

The day that I gave up running the final race

The day that i gave up something that I truly wanted

so easily

How I regret that!

Giving up indeed hurts more

much more

so many years after that and it still hurts

deeply

Well, I didn't become a professional athlete because I had to travel a lot due to some family issues

and I could never focus on the training the way I should

But it's ok!

I never really wanted to become an athelete

but I know that I was talented enough to be an athlete if I wanted to

but it's ok, it's in the past now

I can't go back in time

YET ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I don't want this video to be long

So, I'll end it right now

My girlfriend is about to get here, I believe

I just wanted to share with you something that I like. I like cartoons, I like Dragon Ball

and I especially like Vegeta

So I felt like talking about him

who represents a lot to me

What about you? Do you watch cartoons?

Is there any special character that you look up to?

Granny's Cooking Class #3 Pancakes - Duration: 16:33.

[upbeat music]

Hello InnerTubers, how 'bout another basic cooking lesson?

And, have you been listening to my morning meditations?

Well, I figured pancakes would go perfectly with morning meditations.

You get up, you do your meditation, you do your poopie, and then you make pancakes.

Yeah, wouldn't that be awesome?

Doesn't everybody poopie in the morning?

I mean, what, you didn't expect that out of me?

C'mon. You know me better than that.

I'm not sure if you remember, but my basic cooking series is extraordinarily popular with a couple

of different kinds of people.

There's the people who are just newly moved out from home, maybe young millenials or,

you know, people who've been hanging on their parents' coattails forever.

And another bunch of people is those who are newly single, particularly widowers - men

in their 40s, 50s and 60s who never had to learn to cook.

So, I'm happy to help.

And, pancakes!

What's more comforting than pancakes?

Unless you're gluten-free, and then, I understand that if you're careful, in some stores, some

stores even have a whole frikkin' section of gluten-free shit that you can buy.

And you can still have pancakes.

Think about the kind of pancakes you want before you go to the store.

Do you want fruit in them?

Do you want to put jam and peanut butter on them?

Oh, and by the way, there's a link down below in the description about all kinds of crazy

fucking shit you can do with your pancakes.

I thought it was hysterical.

I hope you do.

Make yourself a shopping list.

That'll be very very very helpful so that you don't overbuy at the grocery store.

Cuz I'm assuming that you're on some sort of budget.

Most everybody is unless you're super fucking rich and then why are you watching my videos.

You've probably got somebody cooking for you anyway.

I'm very much a traditionalist with my pancakes.

I just want blueberries in them and butter and syrup on them.

Simple. Really simple.

Oh, and another thing to think about as you get ready to cook and we'll get into this

a little bit more with the prep, do you want thick fluffy pancakes?

You know, the kind that are like a pillow?

Or do you like thin pancakes, the kind that the syrup just - - - oh - - - the syrup, yeah,

the syrup.

I like my pancakes thinner than I am.

That's how I like 'em.

Another advantage to thin pancakes, if you make 'em really thin like crepes, you can

roll shit up in 'em, and make like a pancake burrito.

For those of you who don't live anywhere near someplace where they serve Mexican food, that's

rolled up shit that you put in your hand and you eat it.

It's delicious.

[off camera What about frozen pancakes?]

I'm not sure if you heard that, but some douchebag just asked me about frozen pancakes.

No.

Please no.

You've got to be terribly desperate or really unwilling to cook if you're gonna buy frozen

pancakes.

No.

Fuck no!

You don't need to spend a fuckton of money on fancy implements or pans to make pancakes.

You can make 'em in a flat griddle which, of course, is really easy, or you can even

make 'em in a little old fry pan.

This one's, I don't know, look at the back of it, man.

I've been using this for, well, a long time.

And, I got a hot tip for you.

I'm gonna cook one pancake in the griddle and I'm gonna cook the test pancake in the

small pan so that I can prove to you that you can use either one.

I suppose you're wondering about tools.

Spatula.

I happen to have 3 different sizes because, well, I've been using a kitchen for a long

fucking time.

One is all you need.

You need some sort of whisk or a spoon or a long-handled fork.

You need some sort of measuring implement.

Even this little thing that came with my soap!

You can use it.

It's got measure marks on it.

Measure cups.

Can you tell how old these things are?

Yeah.

The thing of it is, once you buy the shit once, you have it.

As long as you treat your shit right, you keep it forever.

I know the retail stores don't like that, but you don't need to buy something new every

fucking year.

Woooo.

Perhaps most important is a clear mixing bowl.

I like to use this one as a measure pitcher because it just makes it easier to pour.

Although, I'll also show you how to dip your pancakes out with a little tiny scoop.

Are you ready to mix this shit?

I thought so.

Now listen this is not a sponsored video.

This just happens to be my favorite brand of pancake mix.

And the #1 reason that I'm telling you about it is because the directions on the back are

fuckin' foolproof.

You would have to be some sort of - well - you just, you couldn't read or you couldn't understand,

or whatever the fuck.

If you don't pay attention, you're not gonna be able to make pancakes.

So just pay attention.

Put on your big girl and big boy panties, okay?

It even tells you how to get your griddle ready.

We'll show you that in a minute.

It tells you to put a little oil in it and it tells you how much heat, and it tells you

how to test it.

That's super important.

Up here in the red: how many pancakes do you want?

6-8, 12-16, 18-22.

Let's just start out small.

Okay?

Start out just feeding you.

We can even in half this recipe for 6-8.

Although they don't say what size those pancakes are, so, well, what the hell.

I've got people here who can eat these pancakes when I'm finished, so we'll see.

And I might have one or two.

That calls for 1 cup of mix and 3/4 of a cup of water.

And, actually, that's very important when you're shopping for pancake mix at the store.

If it calls for milk and eggs and all this other bullshit, just say NO!

Just find the one that's super simple.

Batter and water.

Done.

In a pan.

Good.

I like to hold the box open like this when I'm gonna put my measure cup in it, because

it just makes it easier and it doesn't get shit all over the place.

It's super handy to have a knife right next to where you're working so that you can smooth

off the top of the measure. And the deal is you use the back side of the knife.

The smooth side.

And you just scrape off the extra very gently.

Very gently.

Very gently back into the box.

Now you know you have one cup. BOOM

Down you go.

Now, it just so happens that this little measure also has a 3/4 mark, so you put your finger

right here so that when you put the water in it, you know exactly how much water you've got.

Now, remember that I told you I like my pancakes a little thinner?

The directions on the box say that if you like your pancakes thinner, add more water,

and stir it for a little bit longer.

So that's what I'm gonna do.

So that's just about halfway between 3/4 of a cup and 1 whole cup.

Boom.

There we go.

Let's mix this shit.

Boom.

Ready to go.

Except that it also says if you want thin pancakes, you have to keep beating all the

lumps out.

It's like, I dunno.

I'm not gonna go there.

You know Granny doesn't go there, cuz we don't beat anything.

We're all about the love.

So, before we go over to the stove, you guys, hey, please remember to subscribe if you're

on YouTube and follow if you're on Facebook, and share my shit everywhere.

I'll tell you that again later, too.

Now the directions on the box say to use a medium-high heat and to me, that's what that

looks like.

The directions on the package say that you have to put a little Crisco in the bottom

of the pan (or some sort of oil), but I'm not sure that you really need that in a Teflon pan.

What the fuck.

If you're one of those people who freaks out about Teflon, then use another pan.

I'm good with that.

Here's another test.

According to the package, to find out if the pan is the right temperature . . .

see how the water drops will sizzle.

So this is our test pancake.

Just a little tiny one, okay?

Little tiny one, see how it spreads around.

All right, see how the bubbles are coming up?

This is how you know it's getting cooked.

What you wanna watch for is that once a bunch of these bubbles have popped and it gets a

little sheen on the top, oh, then it's time to turn it over.

Oh, look how perfect that is.

First try.

Yay, Granny for the win.

Little tiny bit more.

We'll lift up the edge.

What've we got here?

We got any color going on yet?

Nope. No color.

Not yet.

Let it sit there another little tiny bit.

D'you see how by disturbing it the bubbles went away?

You gotta wait 'til it's all bubbles.

It's like when you fry an egg, you gotta wait 'til it's almost done at the top.

Cuz, when you turn it over you just get a little tiny bit more cooking.

I know, this is like watching a pot of water boil.

It seems to take forever, but don't take your eyes off it because then it'll be done.

See this part over here?

Already done.

I think we're ready.

Ahhh, we got some color now.

Here we go.

Put your . . . put your spatula under it . . . and flip it.

BAM!

Awwwww. Doesn't that look perfect?

It cooks for just another little tiny bit.

You don't cook it as long on the second side cuz it's already almost cooked before you

ever turn it over.

We lift it up and see.

Ah.

Another tiny little bit.

While you wait for it, now it's time to get your plate ready.

Let's move that big pan over and make us some real pancakes here, kids.

Pancake 1.

Pancake 2.

Pancake 3.

Pancake 4.

So, I'm guessing that the measurements for 6-8 pancakes were for these that are, oh,

what would you say, about the size -- little less the size -- of a hamburger patty?

So, I guess you could get 6-8 of these out of there.

Not the big giant ones that they serve you in a restaurant.

Now, something I don't like about a square pan on a round burner is that you can see

there's different areas of the pancake that are getting cooked before other areas.

And, it's a little difficult to turn 'em around, but we're gonna give this a try.

Okay?

[muttering to self]

This right here is a fail, 'cuz I forgot to put the oil in the bottom of the pan.

So, now we know why you have to put a little oil in the bottom of the pan because they

will stick even to a Teflon pan.

Well, you know what?

Not every lesson I do is gonna be perfect.

Ugggghhhh.

We're gonna move this over here.

This is the failure pan.

Let's do the sizzle test.

Just beginning to sizzle.

There we go.

I'm just gonna cook these fuckers one at a time.

The treat of the century here?

I'm gonna throw some blueberries in.

Oh, yeah.

Now, I bet you think my blueberries look really weird don't you?

Well, that's becaue I cut 'em in half because if you leave 'em whole, then sometimes the

batter doesn't cook evenly around them.

Look at that!

Look at those bubbles in the top!

Ohmygosh, this is gonna be perfect.

Eeee. I got blueberries sticking together.

We don't want that.

That's another test.

If it doesn't quite move...if it's not ready to move, it's not done on the bottom yet.

See there?

Getting stuck a little bit still in the middle.

We've got done around the edges, but not in the middle yet.

What do you think?

Should we give this a try?

Oh, yeah, slides nicely.

You see how that happened?

Boom! YEAH!

Actually, I'm not the pancake cooker in my family, uhhhh, so I'm learning this the same

time that you are.

I don't know if you can hear that, but you can actually hear the blueberries sizzling.

Can you see the steam?

Hooooh.

Ahhhhh, check it out!

Over you go.

Oh, dear.

If there's any kids watching, that's my best attempt at Mickey Mouse and it really looks awful.

Let's try one more and see if I can get this shit right.

So, we got a little more oil.

That's what it's supposed to sound like.

Yeah.

Because what is life without blueberry pancakes?

Close.

Let's get the BIG spatula.

Let's go big.

Here we go.

Phew!

[upbeat music plays in background]

Finally.

I don't think they'll ever hire me at Waffle House, but I did it.

We'll just cover the other guy up.

I learned my lesson.

You remember earlier when I said I wasn't sure about putting the oil in the pan, even

if it's Teflon?

Well, you saw that I fucked it up and I learned my lesson, but at least I got one really good

pancake out of it, and the "twins" are here and Rod's gonna eat it because he said he'll

eat anything that I fix.

Vince would love them, but, you know, Vince is the gluten-intolerant kinda one, so,

too bad, Vince, too bad.

You see, even I fuck things up, so if you fuck up your first batch of pancakes, don't

feel bad, okay?

Hey, if you've been following my channel for any length of time at all, you know that this

company called tinysponsor has come to the table to help me with the editing.

That's why we get things to look so flash.

Tinysponsor is the only creator-first marketplace for creators and influencers and if you are

an influencer, well, you should just hook 'em up and get yourself a profile and customize

the kind of videos that you would like to engage with sponsors for.

And, hey, if you are a brand or a company or an organization - someone who would like

to sponsor me - or anyone else you can think of - check out the tinysponsor website.

Yeah.

That's what I'm saying.

And, hey, you know why?

Because Granny says so.

It's the tits!

Patreon grandkids, what do you think of this?

First of all, thank you so much for supporting what I do and helping along with tinysponsor

to keep me solvent.

And what kind of pancakes are your favorite?

Let me know.

And all the rest of you guys, for fuck's sake, yes, if you have a pancake of your childhood

that is absolutely the best thing you love, tell us about it.

Let's have a pancake discussion in the comments.

That would be just major MEGAtits right there.

Oh, and you know there's gonna be the commercial.

Follow on the Facebook, subscribe on the YouTube, share my shit everywhere, leave a comment,

hit the thumbs up button, you know, all that shit that just shows people that you love

what I do.

Because I love you.

You know I do.

Don't make me cry.

It's pancake time. I can't be crying.

Fuck NO!

Hah haah.

You're all so wonderful.

[blows kiss]

Granny Loves You.

All of you.

Commodore 128D Restoration - Duration: 14:29.

Hello, and welcome back to The 8-Bit Guy.

So, for those of you guys who love restoration episodes and always wanting more of them,

well, you're about to get your wish.

You see, I have several machines that I need to restore for upcoming documentaries.

And, it's kind of one of those things where I didn't necessarily want to make a video

about it, but I've got to get them restored before I use them in documentaries because

I'm really nitpicky about making sure I show these machines in their original glory

when I do these documentaries.

So, If I've got to restore it anyway I might as well document the process and make a video

about it.

So, here we go, I'm going to start with this one.

This one is a Commodore 128D.

And, as you probably guessed, this is going to be for Commodore history episode number

5, which is going to cover the 128 series.

And, I actually bought this one on eBay a month or two ago and it's actually in pretty

good cosmetic shape for the most part, except for the fact that it's, well it's really

yellowed.

Particularly the keyboard.

And so, I'm going to take it apart, and we're going to clean it up and retrobrite

it.

So, let's get started.

Before I get started too much, I'm going to go ahead and setup my trusty black crate

and fill it up with water.

It's late morning at this point, and I wanted to give the water a chance to warm up before

I tried to use it.

I'm probably putting more water in here than is needed, but I can always dump some

out later if that turns out to be the case.

Let's check the water temperature.

That's Texas in July for you.

This water is 96 degrees right out of the tap.

Let's see what the temperature of the concrete is.

OK, it's 111 degrees already.

Give it a few hours and I suspect that number will rise some more.

So, let's take a closer look at this computer.

The keyboard is the most obvious part that needs help.

And while it is very yellow, it is also pretty dirty.

And this is one of those situations where sometimes you wonder what caused the yellowing.

Well, in this case there is no doubt it was UV light that caused it.

For one thing, the bottom has a lot less yellowing than the top.

So if it were heat or something, it would be uniform on both sides.

But what's even more interesting is you'll notice this part here is the most yellowed.

However, if you look closely up here, besides seeing all of the dirt between the keys, you

may notice small key-shaped bright spots above the keys.

This is essentially where the keys were providing shade, and so these spots never received as

much direct sunlight.

You can also see it up here on these top keys.

And you can tell exactly what direction the sunlight was coming in.

It looks like it was coming in from this direction.

I'd like to start with this cable, since it would probably be easier to clean it while

it is still connected to the keyboard with the strain relief.

A lot of people don't clean cables when they restore a computer, but I always do,

especially if they are proprietary cables or cables that are permanently attached to

the computer.

This one is pretty dirty, but I suspect alcohol would probably clean it up.

I'll start with one small area here.

A lot of the times on video it is hard to show somebody how dirty something is without

having something to contrast it with.

So I'll just clean a little spot here.

And after a short scrub with alcohol you should be able to see a pretty noticeable clean spot

here as compared to the dirty area here.

And you can see how much dirt came off on the paper towel just from that tiny spot.

So, I'll go ahead and do the rest of the cable now.

After cleaning this side, I'll just flip the keyboard over, which will expose the other

side of the cable and I'll get to work on that.

Anyway, I actually spent about 10 minutes just on this cable and connector, but you

should be able to tell a significant improvement now that I'm done.

So, now I need to disassemble the keyboard, but upon first glance there doesn't appear

to be any screws.

However, I suspect the screws are located under these rubber feet.

So I'll just use a screwdriver to pop one of them off.

And sure enough, I can see there is a screw hole there, but it also appears these feet

are held on by some sort of double-sided tape.

I'll need to get all of this residue off before I retrobrite it.

Interesting thing, as I remove this glue, you can see the original color of the keyboard

underneath.

So it appears the bottom of the keyboard is slightly yellowed after all, even if not nearly

as bad as the top.

Next, I'll come back and hit all of these spots with alcohol to clean up the glue residue.

And while I'm at it, I'll clean up whatever this gunk is.

OK, time to disassemble.

And thank goodness, there aren't any hidden snaps or anything.

But it does look like I'll need to remove another set of screws to remove the key mechanism

from the case.

And that will just lift right out.

Now, there is a lot of dirt and dust bunnies inside this case, but I'll take care of

those in a minute.

For the moment I need to clean the dirt from the exterior, especially paying attention

to the inside parts like this, where it looks like somebody was eating spaghetti or something

over their keyboard.

As for the dirt on the inside, I'm just going to hit it with the sprayer.

And then the other piece.

And the next thing I need to do is spray off this pavement as it is now so hot outside

that if I knelt down on this it would burn my knees.

So the water temperature has only risen to 107 degrees, but it will continue to rise

over the next few hours.

I'll put in my two pieces, and as I suspected I have too much water.

I only want enough water to cover the objects, that way it requires less peroxide to do the

job.

Unfortunately, I can't get both of these pieces to really fit exactly, but the bottom

piece barely needs any retrobrite so I'll just come move them around periodically to

make sure it has an even appearance.

I'll set a timer to keep track of how long this has been going.

Well, a few hours passed and I could see some improvement but the problem was I've been

running out of properly angled sunlight due to the height of this crate.

I keep rotating the box and moving the keyboard around, but I've reached the limit here

and this is about as as much as I'm going to get.

So, after 6 hours I removed it.

And after bringing it in and having a look, I can tell a significant improvement, especially

when contrasted with the keys.

So, while these pieces do look a lot better, they're still not quite perfect and they're

going to need to go back out again tomorrow for at least a few hours.

Now, I could have probably finished this today had I used the old method with the creme and

the plastic wrap because that generally only takes an hour or two really under most cases

to finish.

But, experience has told me that that method can, in many cases, leave a streaked or marbled

look appearance and submersion is the most reliable way to make sure it comes out uniform.

So, yeah, back out tomorrow it's going to go.

Well, the next morning there was a surprise.

We have a saying in Texas that if you don't like the weather just wait until tomorrow.

Although that rarely holds up in the Summer as it usually stays hot and dry for months

at a time.

Anyway, there was going to be no Sun for a while.

That being the case, I turned my attention to the rest of the keyboard, starting by pulling

off all of these keys.

And the C128 has quite a few keys.

And once all the keys were removed, you can see the dirty little secret this thing has

been hiding.

And the sad part is this is so very common it's crazy.

Anyway, let's see what we can do about this stuff.

Looks like the vacuum picked up most of the big stuff, some windex should take care of

the rest.

Well, onto cleaning the actual keys.

You know, I've tried a variety of methods for this, including doing it under running

water in the sink, or just doing it with a wet paper towel like I'm doing here.

The reality is it takes about the same amount of time either way as you have to clean all

5 sides of every key.

People rarely realize how time consuming this is, but it took about an hour to clean all

of the keys on this computer.

Anyway, time for retrobrite.

Hey, this sounds like legos, doesn't it?

The sun finally came back out.

And that is all of my peroxide.

I will have to fill the rest with water.

And I'll cover the top with plastic wrap.

This helps both as a means to trap the heat, but also helps keep in the magic gasses that

make this process happen.

So unfortunately, I ended up running out of sunlight again, because after the rain finally

stopped I only got about 2 to 3 hours of good sunlight.

And so I'm going to drain these out, but after I had a look at them, there was no surprise

that they weren't quite done yet.

So they'll have to go back out tomorrow.

In the meantime, I'll get to working on the main unit.

I'm only going to worry with the plastic on the front in this case.

But to get that off, I'll need to remove the top cover, which I'll start by removing

these 3 screws on the back of the unit.

And then I'll flip it over and there are a couple of screws on the bottom here.

And then I'll just slide this off.

It probably helps that I used to own one of these and so I know how to take them apart,

but I've never taken the front panel off.

But it looks like there are just some screws here holding it on.

But before I mess with that, I'll need to pop this latch off.

I assume this works just like on the 1571 disk drive, since it is the same latch.

And yeah, it just pops right off.

Now I'll take those screws off.

And yeah!

It just comes right off.

But I'll need to disconnect these two LEDs.

They appear to be held on by a screw.

However, that alone didn't seem to help, I realized there's a little plastic catch

underneath.

And there we go, the panel is now free.

This should be an easy treatment since it isn't that badly yellowed.

You can actually see the original color hiding in the shadow of that drive latch here.

So, this should be pretty easy.

Of course, there's still all that dirt down in here, so I'll just use the hose to spray

that off.

Now, what I'm going to try to do is treat both of these pieces at the same time.

They should fit.

But I'll have to add a little more water as the front panel is too tall.

And, I had to go back to the store for more peroxide, but here we go.

I'm going to pour the whole bottle in there.

This bottle costs about $5 so that's not terribly bad, especially in most cases I can

use less than a bottle for most smaller jobs.

Now, some of this is already in a shadow, so I'll need to re-orient this some for

even exposure.

And of course I'll come out and check on it every 30 minutes or so.

Also on the other side of the driveway I have the keys still cooking over there.

OK, so skipping forward a few hours, I think the keys are pretty much done.

So taking a closeup look, they look pretty good.

Certainly better than they did.

However, the keyboard parts still look a tad yellowed, and probably need another few hours.

Although, I think this front case piece looks like it may be finished.

Well, we'll give those pieces a bit longer and take care of some other things, such as

cleaning the drive heads on the disk drive.

This is just something that you might as well do on a restoration like this, especially

since the case is already apart.

And might as well lubricate the drive rails as well.

Lithium grease works well for this.

Well, now it is time for re-assembly.

And, as always, this is the most satisfying part about completing a restoration.

And here's the finished keyboard.

It certainly looks more presentable.

OK, now I've got to re-attach these little feet.

Now, these have no adhesive on them on either side.

I've cleaned out what residue was on there and now I'm going to need to reapply them

back down on the keyboard.

And for that, I'm going to use this clear silicone.

So, here's what the computer looked like before.

And now after.

I'll take this opportunity to connect my Commodore monitor and try a few games.

All right guys, well thanks for watching!

I'm not going to go into a lot of the architecture or history behind this machine because I'm

going to save all of that for the official Commodore 128 documentary which will be coming

out soon and of course will also include the regular 128 as well.

I did want to mention one thing, though.

Those little feet on the bottom of the keyboard, well, they didn't stick.

I thought silicone would work, it seemed like a good idea, but after 36 hours they just

practically fell right off.

So, I managed to remove all of the silicone off of this and the bottom of the keyboard

and I'll be experimenting over the next few days with some other adhesives and hopefully

I'll find one that works a little better.

So, I don't know which one will work, I can just tell you that silicone apparently

does not.

So, anyway, that's about it for this episode, so stick around for the next one and thanks

for watching!

Contractors Are Cutting Corners And Leaving Homeowners With Significant Damages - Duration: 8:00.

Buying a home is probably the largest investment that the majority of Americans in this country

will ever make because most of us obviously can't afford to have multimillion dollars

invested into yachts or the stock market or any other investment.

Our home is our investment.

It's something that we grow equity in.

It's something that if we need to, we can borrow against with a bank, It is of utmost

importance that we keep that home safe.

The problem is that sometimes it's out of our control.

Sometimes shoddy contractors or home builders want to cut corners in a way that makes our

home vulnerable, our investment vulnerable to the elements, to damage and to other problems

that these same contractors and home builders refuse to pay for.

What's happening right now with these ... there're lawsuits against people, contractors and home

builders who apply stucco's sighting basically to homes now stucco occasion, not aware of

it.

It's a form of cement that's mixed with lime and water and a few other things.

It's sprayed onto the side of homes, gives it a very nice look, and it's supposed to

keep it protected from the outside elements specifically, obviously water damage.

What we're finding out right now, according to reports, is that there are too many contractors

and home builders operating in the United States, specifically in wetter climates like

those that we have down here in Florida, and they're doing an improper job applying this

stucco.

They're not following procedure, they're not mixing it properly, and more importantly,

they're trying to apply it directly to the home, which makes for cracking and leaks and

extensive water damage for homeowners.

What should be happening is that when they put stucco up, they're supposed to have some

kind of lattice that the stucco goes on.

They're not supposed to put it directly onto the house, but that lattice costs extra money.

It costs extra time.

Who has time for that When you got to turn and burn with all these homes out there that

needs Stucco, right?

That's the mentality of these contractors.

They want to get as many homes done in as little time as possible so they can make as

much money possible so they cut corners on your home, they cut corners on your investment,

and now that we're finding that they've cut these corners, which causes the Stucco to

crack out at a rate much higher than it would if they had done it properly, causing extensive

water damage, but now they're trying to say that hey, we're not liable for it.

You should have painted it better.

You should just cock it out.

This is just part of the regular wear and tear of home ownership.

Sorry, we're not going to do anything for you to fix the mess that we the contractors

created and that's why right now these contractors and home builders are facing a flurry of lawsuits

from homeowners who have had their homes partially destroyed because that contractor chose to

cut corners.

What makes it even worse, is that this is water damage, in some areas, depending on

where you lie in the flood plain, you're not required to have flood insurance because it's

unlikely that your home would flood.

These people who have had their stucco crack out, cause water damage, they're not getting

any money from the contractors.

They call their insurance company because surely this is something they would cover.

Only to find out, no.

It's water, that's considered floods, So you're on your own.

These people's homes, their investments, they're being destroyed.

All because these contractors wanted to cut a few corners, save a few dollars here and

there and then move on to the next home so they could make even more money knowing that

they had done a poor job for these innocent consumers who were just trying to make their

home look better, just trying to make their home a little more secure from the elements

and they're the ones who got taken advantage of, once again, by corporate greed.

Too many of these stories happen all the time.

But this one and the lawsuits being filed, that's really the only way to solve these

problems.

We have to hold these people accountable.

Law enforcement's not going to do it, but the court system will and that is our only

hope to get these people what they deserve and what they deserve, is to have a livable

home.

To have work done on their house that's not going to be destroyed within a year because

the contractor cut corners and the only way to do that is to take these people to court

and make them pay for the negligence that they acted with when they applied this stucco

and other kinds of home repairs and while we're talking about, people getting screwed

over, I think it's almost impossible to even mention that topic without talking about Flint

Michigan.

The place that had the almost deadly levels of lead in their water that made national

news a few years ago and then everybody seems to forget about it.

Well, here's the thing, the residents of Flint Michigan still don't have clean water and

nobody is talking about that anymore.

Here's another thing that nobody's talking about Flint Michigan.

The death toll from the dirty water that that city has been drinking for years now is about

10 times higher than official estimates.

According to the official estimates, the dirty contaminated water heading into Flint Michigan,

has only killed 12 people through legionella bacteria.

12 people, right?

That's a low number.

That's a number that the local and state governments can say, hey, you know, it's not huge.

Not a ton of people died from this bacteria, but no, according to new research, the actual

death toll from legionella bacteria in the dirty flint water.

Again, this has actually nothing to do with the lead.

This is just a separate new contaminant or living contaminant, legionella bacteria that's

killed 119 people, almost 10 times what the official death toll is, is that remind you

of something?

Does it remind you a little bit of Puerto Rico where they said that 65 people died,

but really it's almost 6,000 people died down there.

They're doing the same thing here in Flint Michigan.

112 people dead.

All because, excuse me, 119 all because, they didn't want to give them clean water.

They didn't want to spend a little bit of extra money to make sure that the water wasn't

contaminated with lead.

To make sure that the water wasn't contaminated with this deadly legionella bacteria, but

now people are in their graves, for doing nothing more than going to the faucet in their

sink, filling up a cup and drinking it.

That's why these people are dead.

I mean, that's the reason these people are dead.

What really killed them was republican policies.

Republican policies that wanted to cut corners, cut costs, privatize water systems.

They hired a guy for over $100,000 to tell them how to do it, who happened to be a good

friend of a Michigan Governor Rick Snyder.

He's the one who told them, hey, just divert the water over here.

Give them dirtier water, they'll be fine.

Pay me over $100,000.

I'm good to go.

They did it.

They paid him.

They switched the water and people are dying, and again, the problems go far beyond just

the lead.

We're talking about now deadly bacteria showing up in this water.

What's even worse?

Federal officials or government officials, local officials, state officials, all the

officials knew that this was actually happening and they sat on it and didn't tell the public

for 15 months.

All of you.

Liverpool transfer : Potential Barcelona deal 'perfect' for Simon Mignolet ● News Now ● #LFC - Duration: 1:53.

LIVERPOOL goalkeeper Simon Mignolet joining Barcelona would be the "perfect" move

for the Belgian, says former Anfield man Steve Nicol.

Mignolet is surplus to requirements at Liverpool this summer following the world-record arrival

of Alisson from Roma.

The Belgium international had already lost his No.1 spot midway through last season to

Loris Karius.

Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing the 30-year-old as they prepare for life without

back-up keeper Jasper Cillessen.

And former Anfield defender Nicol reckons a switch to the Nou Camp would be ideal for

Mignolet, as long as he's content with a place on the bench.

"It depends on what Mignolet wants," Nicol said.

"If he wants, or is happy at 30 years of age, to kind of just be known now as a No.2,

then this is perfect.

"It's perfect for him, and it's perfect for Barcelona as well.

I think there's a chance that something like this might happen.

"It might not be Barcelona, but I think he goes.

So I'm going to say this is a hit."

Mignolet joined Liverpool from Sunderland back in 2013 for £9m and has gone on to make

202 appearances across all competitions for the Reds.

But the Belgian, who came close to winning the 2013/14 Premier League title with Liverpool,

was limited to just 19 league outings last term.

But I am strong and I am not gonna stop

You want to hurt me, and you succed

I know who I am, but who are you?

I know what you think about me

But I think you can do it better

I can't understand why

You loose all your days

Days and nights

You follow me, everything I do,

Don't judge me, you don't really know

How would it be to wake up smiling every day,

To be yourself and nobody to blame you,

Come on, you tell me.

How would it be to skip a work day if you feel like,

To have little, but to be enough,

Come on, you tell me.

How would it be, for all to believe in one God,

Not to even need one penny,

Come on, you tell me.

How good it would be, not to let money speak for us

Richness is within our hearts and not in bills,

You say that I'm, you say that I'm…

A dreamer, but let me be this way, please don't change me

Dreamer, I'm good in my world a a a

Dreamer, I'm just a dreamer

And if I would die

A dreamer, I'll still learn to fly.

How would it be, not to be afraid to live like in your dreams

Only a backpack, two friends and you are on your way

in the world.

How would it be to have the courage to say you're sorry

To let everything behind, then to chase your dream,

Come on, you tell me.

How would it be that our leaders to really care about

Those waiting for the sun which doesn't shine any more

Come on, tell me, do you know?

Somebody once said, if you want better days

You should be the change you want see in the world,

You say that I'm, you say that I'm...

A dreamer, but let me be this way, please don't change me

Dreamer, I'm good in my world a a a

Dreamer, I'm just a dreamer

And if I'd die

A dreamer, I'll still learn to fly.

And I jump, jump, no fear, today I wanna forget about me

With my arms opened, to forget about what was bad, that's the best way.

And without, without dreams nights would be harder,

But I, I, I am dreaming that I'm the sky full of stars.

A dreamer, but let me be this way, please don't change me

Dreamer, I'm good in my world a a a

A dreamer, but let me be this way, please don't change me

Dreamer, I'm good in my world a a a

Dreamer, I'm just a dreamer

And if I'd die

A dreamer, I'll still learn to fly.

Here's What I Think About Honda CVT Transmissions and More - Duration: 3:29.

rev up your engines, Rohan says I got a Honda City 2006 CVT transmission,

acceleration is slow can you give me some tips on how to drive it, okay here's

the problem, CVT transmissions are just weak

transmissions period, they're just weak, and in that Honda they're underpowered

weak automatic transmissions, so basically you're more or less want to

live with whatever it does, now if it's really bad, you might go to a Honda

mechanic who's a pro and has a dealer scan tool and he can check it out there

might be some reprogramming that could be done for the transmission as it ages

but really, ah they're just weak transmissions, it's one reason I don't like

buying them, the newer ones are better than the older ones and that's what, an

06 so it's 13 years old, but the new ones they do shift a little bit better

but they still have what I call a lag, I don't like them but

see if I a Honda guy maybe he could reprogram it to shift a little bit

better, Tyler silk says, I have a 98 Civic

and the passenger side tie rods are bad but the others are perfectly fine, do you

recommend replacing just the passenger side or all of them, just change the passanger

side, when they're worn out replace them, realize that cars don't wear evenly

and here's the thing, generally the passenger sides always wear out faster

and here's why, because when you're driving your car, guess what you hit

potholes and stuff with more often, the passenger side because you're on the

driver's side you see the holes you move out of the way, but you can't see it

right in front of the passenger side so you're gonna hit more things, just change

the ones that you see are bad and leave it at that,

Jeremy blue says, my a/c doesn't work on my Chevy Tahoe but the fuses are good

the battery lights on as well, okay if the battery light is on it means your

alternator is not charging right, cars are so complex these days, that if your

system isn't charging right, then it may turn a lot of things off like the AC, go

to a place like autozone, they load test your batteries and alternators free, you

might find you need an alternator and that will fix the AC, if not you got two

problems and an AC system not coming on the first thing you want to check is

just check the refrigerant, just have a mechanic put gauges on it

because if you low on refrigerant it'll do the same thing, you want to pray

something simple like that and not something like Chevy's are known for having bad

controllers and that's a computer part that costs a lot of money then has to be

reprogrammed by a mechanic, so you want to pray it's something simple, column wart

says, I have a Subaru Forester 1999, the wheel gets really hot when I Drive

for long periods and gives off a burning smell, okay your brakes are sticking on

whatever wheel is smelling generally means your brakes are sticking on, Jack it up

in the air and try spinning all the wheels, you find one wheel doesn't spin and sticks

the brakes are sticking, that can be a bad caliper, a rotten brake hose, or a bad

master cylinder not releasing pressure, normally it's a caliper on those things

you check that, survey says, what are your thoughts on buying an EVAP canister

from a junkyard, okay depends on the car, lets say if it's a

Chrysler, I wouldn't buy one, they got problems with them, if it's a Toyota go

ahead and buy one because they very rarely go bad, if you got a car like a Toyota or

Honda that they rarely brake on, you might try a used one why not, so if

you never want to miss another one of my new car repair videos, remember to ring

that Bell!

"GIVING UP HURTS" [REAL-LIFE ENGLISH #10] - Duration: 10:47.

This video is going to be very quick

I believe that this video will be quick because

I am at the park right now, I am waiting for my girlfriend

But I got here one hour in advance

I don't know why, I may not know how to calculate time

properly, because I left home a long time before

the time that I was supposed to be here

and I'm sure that she'll get here late...I arrived here one hour before

the time that we agreed and I believe that she'll get here late, but that's ok because I love her

and yeah, it's raining now

It has just started raining, unfortunately

I'm just waiting for her here because she's coming by bus

We probably won't be able to stay here at the park because it's raining

I'll probably just pick her up and take her to a different place

but I'm not going to tell you where I'll take her

because there are some kids who watch my channel

and this is a family-friendly channel

So, I'm going to take her to the cinema!!

Yes! That's eactly what I was thinking about ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

But anyway, I'm here by myself, waiting for my girlfriend

and there's nothing to do, so

So, I started watching some episodes of cartoons here

on my cellphone, because

there is free Internet here

at the park

and I was watching some episodes of Dragon Ball

I don't know if you've watched Dragon Ball

I believe that most of my subscribers don't watch Dragon Ball

I'm not sure of that

But, it's one of my favourite cartoons

of all time, really, seriously

and now I've just seen the last episode

of the series for the fourth time

and it represents a lot to me

This cartoon represents a lot to me

I'm not going to give you any spoilers

or anything...I'm not going to talk about the cartoon

or the plot, especifically, because

It's not really my intention, but

I need to talk to you about my favourite character

in the series...His name is Vegeta

Some of you may not know who vegeta is

Therefore, you may not know why is is my favourite character ever

I'll tell you why and you don't even need to have watched any episodes of Dragon Ball before

First, let me describe Vegeta for you

So, this is Vegeta

I'm going to add his picture here

on the screen when I edit the video

I want the video to be quick, so

so, in a nutshell, Vegeta is pure pride

He basically never gives up

He says whatever he wants to say

Whenever he wants to say that

If you've seen the series, you know that at the beginning of it, he was a villain

but throughout the series, throughout the years he has changed a lot

Now he's married, he's got two children

He's got a daughter and a son

and I can say that he would die to defend his family

and his wife

actually he has already died once to save his family

Many people don't like him because he doesn't represent the "politically correct" behaviour"

When he has an objective he will do whatever it takes to reach it, no matter what

He is ruthless

You'll probably think I'm a nerd now because I remember some of his quotes

and I remember that once he said:

"There is no such thing as fair or unfair in a battle. There is only victory or defeat"

So this guy was really ruthless

Some people believe that he still has evil feelings

deep inside his heart

But I don't think so. I don't see it that way.

I see Vegeta as a representation of strength, pride and determination

as a man who loves and takes care of his family, no matter what

He is definitely not naturally the strongest one but he will do whatever it takes to get stronger

and stronger, he will never give up

trying to become stronger every day

He works hard in order to learn a new skill

but by the time he learns a new skill

He is not satisfied with that new skill because

he wants to learn another one

and another one and another one

so on and so forth

Perhaps that's what defines him best

Hard work

He knows that without hard work

Nothing comes to him easily

"Nothing that is truly worth having comes easily"

I'm going to read here some of his most inspirational quotes

and that will give you an idea of why I look up to his character

so much, and why he is my favourite character ever

Once he said:

"Even the mightiest warriors experience fear. What makes them true warriors is the courage that they possess to overcome their fears"

I like this quote because it is saying that we shouldn't ignore the fact, yes, sometimes

we are afraid of certain things

but we need to face our fears and overcome them

Overcoming our fears is what makes us victorious

In order to corroborate that he also said:

"I do not fear this new challenge. Rather, like a true warrior I will rise to meet it"

I like the idea of having new challenges in my life

and even though it might be scary

I should simply stand up and do it. Just do it.

Fight for it, dive into the challenge

and welcome the challenge

He also said:

"I can always become stronger"

Yeah, I know, it's a simple quote, but

That's what I think. I can always improve...

I bring this quote to my reality. I can always get better and better

So, if I'm learning a new language

There's a process and I've got to go

on this journey, step by step, I know about that. I need to celebrate every new word

that I learn

but when I learn a new word, it's time to learn another one

and practice these two words together

and then learn another one

Then I'll know three words, so it's time to learn the fourth word

and the fifth word, you know

I can always get better and better

I shouldn't be satisfied with one word or two words. I want to know them all

So, I can always improve

"I can always become stronger"

every day, constantly

No pain, no gain

Oh by the way, about pain, he said:

"Push through the pain. Giving up hurts more"

"Push through the pain. Giving up hurts more"

It takes me back so long ago

I remember that when I was 14 years old

I was the fastest kid in my school

So I was invited by a professional coach to become an athlete

and take part in professional competitions

Even to this day I've got many medals that I won in this period of my life

Once there was a running competition

the 100 meter dash

and I was great at this kind of race

I qualified to the final.

Seriously, I was among the best runners

under the age of 18 in England

but before the final race, I hurt my right knee

and I cried like a baby because it hurt like hell

So I talked to my coach and I gave up the competition

I gave up running the final race

I decided not to run the final race

Ok. Then the final race happened

and the boy who won it made it in 13 seconds

After the race was over

I felt that my knee was getting better

I asked my coach if I could run this 100 meter sprint just to see if I would have won it if I had run it

then I ran the 100 meter race

by myself and I asked my coach to check my time

I made it in 11 seconds

2 seconds faster than the boy who won it

then when I watched the episode that Vegeta said:

"Push through the pain. Giving up hurts more"

I suddenly remembered the day of that race

The day that I gave up running the final race

The day that i gave up something that I truly wanted

so easily

How I regret that!

Giving up indeed hurts more

much more

so many years after that and it still hurts

deeply

Well, I didn't become a professional athlete because I had to travel a lot due to some family issues

and I could never focus on the training the way I should

But it's ok!

I never really wanted to become an athelete

but I know that I was talented enough to be an athlete if I wanted to

but it's ok, it's in the past now

I can't go back in time

YET ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I don't want this video to be long

So, I'll end it right now

My girlfriend is about to get here, I believe

I just wanted to share with you something that I like. I like cartoons, I like Dragon Ball

and I especially like Vegeta

So I felt like talking about him

who represents a lot to me

What about you? Do you watch cartoons?

Is there any special character that you look up to?

FALLING ON MY 🍑?! | Kobayashi Dragon Maid Cosplay Adventures | Yeticon 2018 Vlog Part 1 - Duration: 6:33.

Hi, I'm off to Yeticon for the weekend.

I'm gonna be there for Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

Today's Friday. Tonight's kind of a chill night

I always say that like I kind of take cons rearly chill

and especially yeticon, which is literally like a giant pool party

There's like a little bit of a bar scene

So that stuff's all really fun to do with like my cosplay friends

And sometimes we like to do really goofy cosplays.

I brought Creamy Mami I brought Kobayashi

Sakura from Cardcaptor Sakura and ...

oh, yes and Nozomi from Love Live. Which is like this light-up outfit...

That's just really fun to wear around at night.

So yeah, I can't wait to kind of dress up and

just be a goof with my friends!

wheeeeeeeeee

Where are we going?

Here is Blue Mountain, which is where Yeticon takes place.

Yay. Yay. Yay. Yay. Yay. Yay. Yay. Yay. *Singing badly*

I'm heading over to get my Yeticon badge and hopefully not gonna hit by a car...

Just twerk madly until the part you know comes up...

Are you guys ready?

*Idol Music Playing*

About to go ziplining, should be fun!

I just got done ziplining and I screamed like a freak

because I'm actually terrified of heights but it was really fun!

This is the balcony, it's super pretty.

Honestly the prettiest con

location

I've ever been to. I don't know I'm talking so slow.

It's kind of weird

But you know

as soon as I got here

I got my wristband which I can't show you that I'm holding the camera

and then I went over to the 1,2 Shine

Basically, like it was like Idol dance lessons

and I gotta say I am not coordinated

But those girls were passionate...

back in the day

I used to do the Hare Hare Yukai from Haruhi

...that dance...

I had it memorized

I even did competitions for that. Like that was my jam and because of that

I really appreciate idols

like Idol dancing and all that kind of like really throw your heart into that stuff

I think of it as like this nerdy

workout

and I love to see people super passionate about whatever they love

even if it's super geeky to other people

I just love to see people do their thing

I mean, that's kind of what I'm all about doing my geeky thing all the time

now I'm probably gonna kind of do some "party-ish" things. I don't know

There's a bar open. There's dancing

just gunna kind of go out and have fun.

Be crazy.

Should get some good footage, I hope.

I'm in a hallway so I have be kind of quiet

Unfortunately, the room I'm staying in is a bit too loud to vlog in.

People are kind of having a good time

But I'm dressed up as Kobayashi...

Drunk version Kobayashi.

So looking nice and sloppy...

like a

drunk person... I guess?

She likes to drink and yell about maids

It's which I can I'm pretty relatable

It's a look

You know, I'm gonna try to dance in my lame way that I do.

Maid dragon...

Dragon maid!

Kobayashi's Maid Dragon...

All of the things *woop sound*

GODZILLA!!!

*Godzilla roars*

Running around Yeticon... Here we go!!!

YAAAAAAAAAAH

*Loud music and cheering*

I'm at the dance right now and it's super fun.

With godzillaaaaaaaa

my Tohru!

Kobayashi's Maid

godzilla

AND I'M TRIPPING!

*falling sound???*

I fell

I FELL!

We're going to a panel, I don't want to yell out loud the panel is

because a reasons

Polypore two (name of room). Room we go!

Just got done with a kind of "fanfiction-y" panel and it was super fun

there's

Godzilla and I'm still kobayashi.

I also won a

Victor and Yuri kind of picture because I yelled Victurri (ship name)

I'm here!

Getting poutine! (Canadian fries and 5:55.8 5:56.3 Godzilla: *eatting sounds* gravy thing)

Godzilla: *eatting sounds*

Me: *screaming sounds*

Gots food!

I had fun dressed up as Kobayashi

going to the dance and going to a panel

But now it's time to go to bed

gonna get out of this the plan tomorrow is to cosplay...

Card- ugh. *Too sleepy to talk*

Sakura from Card Captor Sakura

and it should be fun!

Good night!!!!

*Windows XP shutting down sound effect*

SUMMER TO FALL HAUL! - Duration: 8:35.

hi guys welcome back to my channel today I'm gonna be doing a summer favorites

haul these are just some things that I've been loving this summer and I

wanted to share them with you guys and some new things as well that I just

picked up so let's get on into the video but before we do don't forget to hit

that subscribe button down below there's also a little notification bell

that you can hit if you want to be notified when I post new videos also let

me know what your favorite season is down below I would love to know I think

I'm like a spring girl but I also love this summer I love this spring because

I've Easter and it's warming up and getting like sunny but you still have

that kind of cool breeze here in Tennessee in this summer the heat is

insane so I think spring has to be my favorite but I also love summer so let

me know in the comments down below what your favorite season is with that being

said let's get on into it alright so the first thing I wanted to mention is a

brand name hopley they sent me a box close and I absolutely love them I got

to pick them out they were so sweet to let me choose some of their clothes to

share with you guys on camera the first thing I want to share with you guys is

this cute top I absolutely love it it's super long and it's like a knit material

it's so soft and nice for summer transitioning into fall you can layer

with it which is super fun I also love like this string down the center it just

makes it super cute I also wear this without the strings sometimes I take it

out and then wrap the string around my waist it also makes it really really

cute as well so the next thing I picked up from hopefully was this really cute

striped pink and white button-down shirt it's kind of like a man shirt I think

it's so so cute think if you're wearing like your boyfriend's shirt or whatever

I love this it's super big and long I wear this at the beach with some white

jeans and then I also wore it over my bathing suit I posted pictures on my

Instagram so make sure to go check out my Instagram I'll have it right here I

love this shirt I love how it fits it's super loose but then you can also tie it

up tuck it in or leave it out and it looks adorable so this is one of my

favorite pieces that I picked up from hopefully

and then another really cute top that is kind of wrinkly right now because I just

took it out of my suitcase and it smells like beach bonfire because we had a

bonfire at the beach it was so much fun but it's just this really cute orange

top that kind of has the same laces down the center and then I like to wear this

off the shoulder and what is so cute is it's a long sleeve and you can kind of

like scrunch it up and it looks so darn cute I love this burnt orange color it's

super cute for a fall and summer like if you live in an area like California

where it gets a little bit cooler during the nighttime and you want to wear like

long sleeves but still feel flowy and lightweight this is a super super cute

top I love the off-the-shoulder look just to show a little bit of color bone

so this top is one of my favorites for sure and then the next thing they sent

me was just this great basic v-neck tee it has a little pocket it is one of the

softest shirts I have ever felt everybody needs a really nice basic gray

tee so I wanted to definitely pick this up and it's so soft the next piece that

I picked up from hopefully that I think is adorable I thought of this more like

a transitional piece into fall it's this dark blue kind of cardigan thing and it

has a little button up sleeve which is adorable and then it's just open in the

front and it's super lightweight but you can layer this and make it so so cute

it's kind of shorter in the back and it has these two long kind of flowy things

in the front and then it kind of cinches in the back so it's super ladylike and

just flattering on your body so definitely check this out if you're in

need of a little cardigan I think this is super cute moving on to one of my

summer favorites and I only got these like a week or two ago not too long at

all but you guys I have been looking at these for so long and these are the best

investment I've probably ever made in the past few years so my knee my left

knee was hurting and I don't know if it's from working out or what cuz I

really don't work out that much but every time I do work out my left knee

kind of hurts so I was wearing these really flat sandals from like Old Navy

do you guys know what I'm talking about I was wearing those

all the time and I noticed my knee would hurt every time I would wear these so I

was looking into Birkenstocks for a while and a lot of you probably already

have Birkenstocks but I don't know why it took me so long to jump on the

bandwagon I think they're so cute and they're so cute on everyone else but on

me I kind of have big feet I'm a size 10 so when I saw these I'm like I tried

them on a few times and I'm like I don't know if I like those because they kind

of make my feet look like a little bit like bare feet I don't know I'm just

like big and clunky but when I try these on they look super ladylike because they

have these thin straps and then a little bit of a toe excuse like the dark sweaty

toes on there I've only had these for a week and I don't know why it's already

like that let me just tell you these are so comfortable I can wear these all day

without any knee issues whatsoever I sound like an old person

but they really are so comfortable on my foot and they have like the arch support

in there too if you guys have a high arch that really helps but I just love

the dark leather color with the little buckles they look so cute when you have

a tan too so I'm so glad that I invested in these and pick these up if you guys

haven't tried Birkenstocks or if you guys are thinking about picking up some

Birkenstocks definitely get them and you can always return them if you don't like

them I just I think they're so so cute in the last two clothing pieces I have

are these two bathing suits from Cup sheet this is the first one it is just

this beautiful brown almost slightly purple color and then it has these

little ruffles and it's one shoulder I think it's adorable it looks so cute in

the photos as well if you guys haven't seen my Instagram again go check it out

because me Jaclyn Brooke and Emyle Stansberry just

did like a little mini photo shoot while we are all at the beach and it was so

much fun so go check out my Instagram in their instagrams as well and then the

next bathing suit I got from Cup she is this it looks weird right now

but it's this orange one piece and it kind of goes over your boobs like that

and then it ties at the waist which is adorable you can't really tell on camera

what it looks like but I can insert a picture

right here again I love the burnt orange color it is like my thing right now and

it looks really good when you have a tan so those two bathing suits are just

super classic and pretty to me so I pick those up if you guys are scared to try a

cup she'd don't be because their bathing suits are all really good quality

material I mean I got I got two of them Jacqueline got two of them and then

Emily got two of them as well and I felt all of them and they're all pretty good

material go check out cup sheet if you haven't already and then I have

mentioned these rings in one of my videos previously I had three of them

but I don't know where the other one went I think I used it for a photo shoot

so it still might be in my back but look how fun these rings are this is from a

company named lavender blue I'll have them linked down below but they sent me

these rings and I have been wearing them non-stop you guys they're so beautiful

and they're so fun I just love the gold hammered size with the big like rock in

the middle they're super bohemian and nice and then

my last favorite is actually a sample size I haven't picked up the full

version yet I have never loved a sample perfume this much this is my new

favorite perfume and I've got to go pick up the full bottle of it the brand is

taka and the perfume is named Flores it smells so good I think I'm gonna like to

use that my last bit right now I'm trying to tell you what it smells like

it's like summer but also slightly floral E which I'm not like a floral Lee

person but it's like a fresh floral like you smell clean and fresh so if you guys

like that scent that I'm trying to describe to you you should go check out

this perfume I can't wait to buy the full size so I hope you guys enjoyed

this video don't forget to go check out the hopefully brand and down below I

mentioned them in the description and I'll have everything else linked down

there as well so thank you guys so much for watching and I'll see you next

WHO am i ? - Duration: 4:31.

who am i ?

when I saw this I just wanted to share it it reminds me the people I've lost

and maybe decisions I've made in life we lived all bad

we came up with the future decisions what I should be doing right now that's

kind of a Who am I video pics of the times always thank you

for watching this it's what's happening right now inside

everybody is they're going who am i what do you feel when you say the word I I

myself and re that today I'm not what I think I am I'm not what you think I am I

am what I think you think I am so we live in this perception of a perception

of ourselves hence my identity is made by what my

parents think I should be my identity is made up by what my college or university

thinks I should achieve I don't think there can be any more fascinating

preoccupation than that because it's so mysterious it's so elusive

and at a certain point I realized hey wait a second you know if it's so easy

to lose Jim Carrey who the hell is Jim Carrey at some point when you create

yourself to make it you're going to have to either let that creation go and and

take a chance on being loved or hated for who you really are or you're gonna

have to kill who you really are and fall into your grave grasping onto a

character that you never were I want you to find your own walk right now your own

way of striding pacing any direction anything you want

Robert Frost said two roads diverged in a wood and I I took the one less

traveled by and that has made all the difference and that's why there's always

an element of profound mystery in the problem of who we are because what you

are in your inmost being escapes your examination in rather the same way that

you can't look directly into your own eyes without using a mirror you can't

bite your own teeth you can't taste your own tongue and you can't touch the tip

of this finger with the tip of this finger

is there doesn't it really astonish you that you are the fantastically complex

thing and that you're doing all of this and you never had any education in how

to do you know in and at some point of your life you have to you have to go I

don't care what it looks like you know I I found the hole in the psyche and I'm

going through

and I'm gonna face the abyss of not knowing whether that's gonna be okay

with everybody or not I believe that if we are honest with ourselves that the

most fascinating problem in the world is who

what do you think you are we speak of coming into this world we didn't we came

out of it you and I are all as much continuous with the physical universe as

a wave is continuous with the ocean the ocean waves and the universe peoples

basically when you're really firing and it really works

it's like musicians have said it all writers say it it's just you're just

channeling that's where you say that divine inspiration what just passed is

you just letting it through

Conor McGregor's bizarre meeting with Conservative MP Jacob Rees-Mogg - Daily News - Duration: 2:46.

</form>  Conor McGregor meeting Jacob Rees-Mogg is the absolute definition of two worlds colliding

But the pair had an extraordinary meeting of sorts in New York this week, as the Conservative MP found himself surrounded by McGregor and his fans

Irishman McGregor was in New York to face charges relating to an altercation at an event in April

He has remained there ahead of the confirmation of his UFC return, where he is set to face Khabib Nurmagomedov in October

And he was mobbed by fans as he left his hotel in Manhattan, only to have an unexpected face wander past

Rees-Mogg did not appear to recognise McGregor as he shuffled past with his children - nor did McGregor recognise Rees-Mogg

The awkward encounter was caught on camera by one of the MMA star's fans, who was filming their interaction with the 'Notorious'

McGregor was sipping water from a bottle as Rees-Mogg and his son, who was dressed in a full suit like his father, shuffled by

Meanwhile, McGregor has effectively confirmed his return to the UFC Octagon with a social media post

It will be the first time competing in the brand since he knocked out Eddie Alvarez to win the lightweight title in November 2016

He has since spent time in the boxing ring, where he lost to Floyd Mayweather , while also enjoying a spell with his family and young son

But he confirmed on Instagram on Thursday morning that he was returning to the UFC

"Honey I'm home," he wrote alongside a picture of himself wearing his UFC shorts

McGregor avoided a prison sentence last month when he agreed a plea deal following his attack on a bus in New York in April

That has paved the way for him to return to the Octagon in the United States against current 155lb champion Nurmagomedov
