Youtube daily report Nov 12 2018

This is the case of Vaught v. Lindsey.

Thank you, Ron. Good day everyone.

AUDIENCE: Good day.

Ms. Vaught you say

your ex-boyfriend Mr. Lindsey

abruptly ended your relationship due to paternity doubts.

But today you want to prove he is your daughter Shelby's dad.

VAUGHT: Yes, Your Honor.

JUDGE LAKE: Mr. Lindsey, you say the plaintiff, Ms. Vaught,

has committed paternity fraud.

You claim she deceived you into believing

that you fathered her daughter

but today, plan to prove you are not her father.

Yes, Your Honor.

Additionally, you are counter suing for a lie detector test

to determine the extent of Ms. Vaught's infidelities.

Is that correct?

Yes, Your Honor.

So, Ms. Vaught, well,

the stakes are pretty high today.

VAUGHT: Yes, they are, Your Honor.

Explain.

I wouldn't place a baby on someone

that I didn't know.

Like, didn't believe was her father.

You get what I'm saying?

I have two previous kids before him

and my children both have the same father.

And if I felt in my heart that

he wasn't the father or if I was to second guess

of him being the father

I would have told him from the door.

What was the nature of your relationship?

We were good.

Like, he was my best friend at the beginning.

Our relationship started going south because

he felt like she wasn't his due to something...

Hearsay.

JUDGE LAKE: What happened Mr. Lindsey?

She says you all were good, good friends.

Were you in a relationship?

Were you just dating or were you committed?

No, we was good friends. We was in a relationship.

Everything was going good.

Today, I feel like

she got... She too friendly.

She too friendly to me, man.

Too friendly.

Too friendly?

VAUGHT: Too friendly?

Everybody, her cousins her brothers...

Your Honor, he has the nerve.

JUDGE LAKE: Oh, too friendly with different guys.

Exactly, Your Honor.

Okay.

How long were you all seeing each other?

About two and a half years.

Two and a half years!

Sleeping together without protection?

Yes, we were.

JUDGE LAKE: For two and a half years?

All the time. All the time.

We was on and off for two and a half years?

She's not telling the truth.

We was on and off...

No, he went away

for six months of the two and a half years.

And we still was on and off.

Your Honor, when we first met

everything was going good. We was going good.

Then, little stuff started popping up with her.

JUDGE LAKE: What popped-up?

Her talking to peoples, some stuff popped-up...

She can't have a conversation Mr. Lindsey?

She can have a conversation...

Your Honor...

But how many conversations with males?

JUDGE LAKE: So, I want to know specifically

what was it about these conversations that troubled you.

All right, we going to start off with this one.

Somebody was in her, I don't know what they call it,

her little Instagram.

I guess they were supposed to be knocking on her windows.

How somebody knocking on your windows when

you're supposed to be talking to me?

So, wait a minute now,

you said somebody that was on her Instagram

was knocking on her window?

LINDSEY: That's what the message says.

JUDGE LAKE: Oh, what did it say?

It said, "I'm going to be at...

"Knock on the right window."

She was telling the person to knock on the right window.

This was the address to her house.

Oh, so she was giving somebody her address

and telling them to knock on the window.

And you saw this?

LINDSEY: Basically, it was a booty call to me.

That right there, that has nothing,

honestly, to do with it,

because it was... We weren't even really

talking in that nature at that time.

So for him to throw that up...

Because we really began

being serious in about March of 2014.

So, he's talking about something

when he was away in New Haven.

That's what he's talking about, Your Honor.

So, Mr. Lindsey, besides her on Instagram

and you see her telling somebody to knock on the window,

what else?

She told me the baby wasn't mine. What was I supposed to do?

VAUGHT: Your Honor, I said that out of anger

because for him to say...

'Cause he was saying to me, Your Honor,

"Oh, I don't feel that's my baby. I don't feel that's my baby."

Why would you say that when I'm loyal to you?

And I have been 110% with you.

I don't lie to this man about nothing.

And if I felt Shelby was not his,

I would have told him.

And, Ms. Vaught, I have to tell you

like I tell every other young woman in this courtroom,

once you ring the bell

you can't un-ring it.

And I understand...

Once you say that, it's a statement

that even if you take back

they can't forget it.

It automatically creates doubt.

Okay, Your Honor, so, if he says that's not his daughter

for me to kick him out...

I don't feel like it is my daughter.

...of my house.

Is that an issue?

I don't feel like it is my daughter.

Because I'm not going to have you

still around here...

The dates don't add up.

How is it my daughter?

The dates add up.

I know the day I got pregnant

'cause it was New Year's...

Mr. Lindsey...

What are you saying, the dates don't add up?

Explain.

The dates don't add up.

If the baby was conceived

in September, that would mean December,

February, we would have had to be together.

We wasn't together on them days.

What is that Mr. Lindsey?

This is a calendar right here.

JUDGE LAKE: Ron, will you hand that to me, please.

It will show you that the dates don't add up.

It don't make sense to me.

VAUGHT: Your Honor, please...

You have a calendar here, sir?

Yes, ma'am.

He went over and above.

JUDGE LAKE: Show me what it is

(CHUCKLES)

I never seen him play with a tablet for the sake of my life.

But now he got a tablet all of a sudden.

You see where it say December and January?

I was away. I wasn't even...

We live in different towns.

I wasn't even in the same town.

You were away when?

I came back,

February she talk about how she's pregnant.

How does that add up?

He was away...

JUDGE LAKE: So, you're saying

I'm not...

if you count back nine months

your contention is that she conceived

somewhere in the December-ish area.

VAUGHT: New Year's Eve...

And you were away with your family, out of town

for two months.

Exactly, ma'am.

And you didn't get back

to town and you all didn't get together till February?

So, you feel like the conception doesn't add up.

LINDSEY: It doesn't add up.

VAUGHT: I know my body.

I know when I was pregnant. I'm not gonna lie to this man.

At the end of the day, we were together

New Year's Eve of 2014 bringing it in.

I just got out of work, bought some alcohol

and we went. I came home and we had passionate love-making.

With who?

So, I don't see how...

What do you mean, "With who?"

You say, you assert that you all were together

New Year's Eve.

VAUGHT: Yes, ma'am.

Yes, Your Honor.

And so, that would have been December 31st

that would have been within the window of time.

VAUGHT: Exactly.

And so Mr. Lindsey, you're saying that's incorrect.

That you were not with her?

I was not there.

I don't know who she got me confused with somebody.

VAUGHT: Do you see, that's disrespectful, right there.

Because if we were together two and a half years

how could you open your mouth

and say something like that.

JUDGE LAKE: And that hurts your feelings.

It does, because I love this man.

He know I love him.

So, for him to act like that to me right now...

If you felt like that you could have walked and did your business.

You not chained to be with me.

So, my thing is, if you felt like that

you should have let that be expressed

don't sit around wasting my time,

wasting my love and energy on you.

I'm a daddy's girl, at heart,

so, why would I want my daughter not to know her father?

And my thing is,

I'm going to be a woman about it.

If I was cheating on you and I thought she wasn't your baby...

Listen, Mr. Lindsey, Mr. Lindsey.

But you told me you cheated on me.

You told me, I don't know...

No, I said...

Girls go through hormones

and stuff when they're pregnant.

Pregnancy.

Pregnancy.

I don't know if she'd just be

saying it just to be saying it.

And I said I cheated on you?

And when I was pregnant?

You said, "Oh, I'm going to cheat on you."

Oh, because he cheats on me, Your Honor. Let's be real.

When you go tit-for-tat...

VAUGHT: He goes worse.

...you end up in a situation

where you don't trust one another.

So, all of this mistrust

it just fuels the doubt.

It does.

It's just growing and growing.

'Cause he's sitting there, he's dead serious

he's just like, "I don't know if this is my child."

And if he doesn't know, Your Honor,

my thing is, why you stay around for so long?

Like, why build a relationship with me,

making it seem like, oh, we're just going to

be this happy family, like I have...

I never agreed to that.

You never agreed, I get so crazy, Your Honor,

that Mr. Lindsey here now he never agreed...

So I'm standing here lying...

Your Honor...

...in front of you just to make myself look good.

Well, let's talk about the lying.

Let's talk about the lying.

Because Mr. Lindsey

requested in his counter suit

a lie detector test.

Because he's convinced

that you are lying about other infidelities.

And, Your Honor, he's doing that from hearsay.

JUDGE LAKE: We have administered that test and I have the results.

Ron, may I have the envelope?

Thank you.

Ms. Vaught, you met with a licensed polygraph examiner.

Yes.

Before I read these lie detector results

what do you believe we will find out.

The truth.

That's all it is.

That's what the point of the test was for.

To tell the truth.

Ms. Vaught, you were asked "Did you have

"sexual contact with the man who sent you

"an Instagram message about which window to knock on?"

You said "no".

The lie detector determined

you were being deceptive.

What does that mean?

(EXCLAIMS)

That I was lying?

That means you was lying?

JUDGE LAKE: Not telling the truth.

I was lying?

That's what that means.

Accept it. You was lying.

Okay, Your Honor.

Ms. Vaught, you were asked

"Did you have sexual contact with the man

"who sent you messages calling you 'sexy' and 'boo'?"

You said "no".

The lie detector determined

you were being deceptive.

(EXCLAIMS)

So, you failed both questions

of the lie detector test.

That's a lie, Your Honor.

I know I didn't cheat on this man,

'cause I feel like this, Your Honor,

I give Shelby nothing but respect and everything, in every way.

I don't treat this man no type of way.

He feels like that because of something somebody say.

LINDSEY: I got the results, I got no more to say.

You got the results?

The results speak for itself.

Unless you argue with the lie detector, man.

I feel like you're doing this because

you wanted to make it seem like I'm this bad person to you.

You make it seem like that.

I didn't take the lie detector test and fail.

Mr. Lindsey... But he won't submit to one.

Why won't he submit to one?

I'm not certain that Mr. Lindsey

would pass a lie detector test either, Ms. Vaught.

VAUGHT: Thank you, Your Honor.

Thank you, Your Honor.

Your Honor, how can you do that?

Uh, excuse me...

VAUGHT: Thank you, Your Honor.

I have my own opinion.

VAUGHT: Thank you, Your Honor.

And I believe that.

I am not certain you would pass

a lie detector test.

VAUGHT: He wouldn't.

What I am certain of

is his infidelities

unfortunately have no bearing on the paternity

as it relates to Shelby.

VAUGHT: You're right.

You're right.

That's why we keep focusing

and that's why he asked those questions

because he wanted to see

were you involved with or sleeping with

anyone else during that time.

VAUGHT: I never slept with anyone.

And he knows that. I told him...

How do I know that?

The lie detector says something different.

I told him, I told him...

Okay, we were...

Now I really got to know the time.

I don't know, I really don't know what's going on now.

Did you have sexual contact with either one of these gentlemen?

You failed both, you failed both answers.

I never had no type of sexual contact

that's what I'm saying.

Look at my beautiful baby.

How could he sit here and deny her.

She's everything of him from the head to the nose.

All she has of me is my cheeks.

A family member said just the other day

"Oh, she has a gap like somebody in the family."

If he felt, Your Honor,

that Shelby wasn't his, why would you give her your name?

Why would you sign the birth certificate?

Your Honor, when I was in labor,

he was at work. Okay?

He ran 10 blocks up the street,

made sure he stopped at the gift store

to get me a balloon, teddy bear and a flower.

That's just being a good guy, though.

Okay, being a good guy.

That's being a good guy.

That's being a good guy?

JUDGE LAKE: Wait a minute...

Mr. Lindsey, no, no, wait a minute.

Wait a minute. Wait a minute.

I still bring her something to eat.

That don't mean nothing.

No, no, no, but I'm going to have to agree with Ms. Vaught

I mean, if you have a child and you don't know the child's yours,

you don't stop by for the teddy bear, the balloons and flowers.

I'm not going to lie.

I'm not going to lie.

If you felt like she wasn't your baby...

She persuaded me into thinking that the baby was mine.

Matter of fact, she persuaded me...

Okay, one at a time.

She persuaded me into giving the baby my name.

VAUGHT: I persuaded him?

I got a petition to change the name if that's not my child.

JUDGE LAKE: Let me see that, Ron.

You are just so articulate now.

He is just so into everything.

Your Honor, Your Honor.

JUDGE LAKE: He's bringing out all the stops in court today.

When the results come out that he's her father

I would love for him to keep this up

so we could build and get better, because I love him.

(LAUGHING)

'Cause I love him.

(AUDIENCE APPLAUDING)

VAUGHT: No doubt in my mind, I want to be with him.

Keep this up, this is professional.

I want...

And you know what I mean, because...

JUDGE LAKE: I do.

From where we're from, being in that area

people mistake you as a criminal, a hoodlum.

And he's not that. I know the potential.

'Cause I love this man. I still want to be with him.

I hope this will make him realize I'm always going to be here

and I love you and when it comes out that she's his daughter

we can work it out, because there's no reason

I don't want to be with him.

So, this petition he presented is

basically a request to change

Shelby's name,

if in fact, she is not his biological child.

He wants his name, Lindsey,

off the birth certificate.

LINDSEY: Shelby too.

Don't forget Shelby.

VAUGHT: Okay, excuse m Your Honor,

her middle name is Renee, right?

Your Honor, every female in his family

has Renee as their middle names.

So, if you really felt like it wasn't your daughter

why would you give her that?

No matter what, if it ain't mine,

I want... I don't want her with my name.

I'm 110%.

What the issue is... Hold on.

(BOTH SHOUTING INDISTINCTLY)

Hold on. Hold on. The issue is this...

The issue is there's absolutely no trust.

Oh, from...

You don't believe anything he's saying

I don't.

He don't believe anything you're saying.

And the truth is, I want to know

where do you stand?

She says she loves you.

How do you feel Mr. Lindsey?

Are you willing to work on the relationship

if in fact Shelby is your biological daughter?

Or are you ready to walk away if she is not?

I want to raise my daughter with her mother.

At the end of the day.

So, if Shelby is my daughter

we could attempt.

But, you know, got to gain a little trust, this time,

because right now it ain't working.

And if she's not your biological daughter, then what?

(LINDSEY SCOFFS)

We're going to have to go our ways

and get out of each other's life.

If she's not my daughter,

why would I stay?

All right, then that means the stakes are higher than ever.

VAUGHT: I respect that.

I'm ready for the results.

VAUGHT: Let's go.

Thank you.

These results were prepared by DNA Diagnostics and they read as follows.

In the case of Vaught v. Lindsey

when it comes to 9-month-old, Shelby Lindsey,

it has been determined by this court

Mr. Lindsey, you...

Are the father.

(APPLAUDING)

VAUGHT: Thank you, Your Honor.

I'm so happy. Can I have that, please?

Can I have that?

Oh, you want to put this up in the house?

Yeah. I sure am.

You're going to put this on the refrigerator.

If it helps him remember.

I can only imagine what it feels like

for nine months you have a beautiful baby

It hurts.

and people are questioning you,

It hurts.

questioning the baby.

The father won't be fully attached.

Constant arguments.

It is stressful enough having a new baby,

but having a new baby with the stress of everyone doubting you

and the father of the child

denying that the child is his,

that's a lot.

You two obviously love one another

but you don't trust one another.

Now, if you want to climb up out of that

you gotta do the work.

And that's getting back to the basics.

The basics in relationship,

communication, trust, respect,

commitment.

Now, we have counseling and resources for you all

and I want you to take advantage of it.

And figure out how you're going to work this out.

No, you don't have to be together.

But I think both of you really want to try.

But you gotta get those chips off your shoulders.

And you've got to be willing to be vulnerable

and you've got to be willing to start over.

Are you willing to start over?

Yes.

Are you willing to start over?

I'm willing to try.

JUDGE LAKE: That's all we need.

That's a beginning.

The fact that you know for certain

you have this beautiful little girl.

She loves you both.

And she's counting on you both.

Start there.

And there's no limit to where you can go.

All right, I wish you the very best of luck.

Court is adjourned.

Ariana Grande's Brother Is In A Relationship With A Married Couple - Duration: 3:20.

According to reports, pop star Ariana Grande's older brother, dancer, reality TV star, and

YouTuber Frankie Grande, is apparently dating a married couple.

Frankie Grande spoke with Us Weekly at Bette Midler's New York City Hulaween soiree on

October 26th, 2018, and revealed that he's a part of a modern romance.

Introducing two married men, Daniel Sinasohn and Mike Pophis, Grande reportedly said:

"These are my boyfriends.

[We've been dating for] almost three months, but in the gay world, it's like five years."

According to the magazine, Grande opened up further about his relationship, saying he

admires the two men for their smarts.

As their Instagram accounts show, Sinasohn is involved in human rights law, while Pophis

is a doctor of internal medicine.

Considering Grande's career is in a bit of a different wheelhouse, many may be wondering

just what the celebrity has in common with Sinasohn and Pophis.

When asked by Us Weekly at supermodel Heidi Klum's annual Halloween party how the unusual

surprise romance between the threesome works, Grande replied:

"Let's just say it does."

Shortly afterwards, Grande elaborated on his comment, saying:

"Mike and Daniel are both extraordinary people and I think the world of them.

Each of them complete me in different ways and I am honored to be in this very special,

very fun relationship."

Grande hasn't been shy about sharing moments in his romance with Sinasohn and Pophis on

Instagram.

Besides attending Halloween parties with his boyfriends in full costume, Grande has done

just about everything with Sinasohn and Pophis, from seeing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

and carving pumpkins for Halloween, to going on vacation and watching the results of the

2018 midterm elections.

From the looks of it, these three are pretty serious.

As noted by Us Weekly, Grande came out to his now-famous sister back when she was a

preteen, and, as he noted, she's been supportive of him every step of the way.

Frankie Grande once recalled:

"When I came out to her, she was 11 years old, and I was like, 'I have to tell you something.'

She was like, 'What?'

I said, 'I'm gay.'

And she was like, 'OK, cool.

Do you have a boyfriend?

Great, do I get to meet him?'

It didn't faze her at all."

No word yet on if Ariana likes her older brother's relationship with the married Sinasohn and

Pophis, but, if we know Ariana at all, we'd say that she's super supportive of whatever

makes her big bro happy.

Ariana herself has had some major relationship drama in recent months.

The "No Tears Left to Cry" songstress got engaged to Saturday Night Live comedian Pete

Davidson in June 2018, not too long after they started dating.

Though Ariana claimed she wanted to marry Davidson pretty much from the moment she first

met him, the romance was short-lived.

The couple called off the engagement in October 2018, possibly due to the untimely death of

Ariana's ex boyfriend, Mac Miller, and Davidson's apparent habit of oversharing details about

their relationship.

Following their split, Ariana released the single "Thank U, Next," thanking her ex-boyfriends

for their influence in her life and commenting on how she's grown as a person.

And fortunately, Ariana has a strong support system in place to keep her looking forward

to the future.

While speaking with Entertainment Tonight at Bette Midler's 2018 Halloween party, Frankie

Grande shared that he and his sister were spending some quality time with each other

and with their family.

"We just had a game night together the other night, it was me, Mommy, and Nona, and we

just had a great time.

Mommy won...

It's good, she's working really hard, you know?

And getting prepped for tour."

Maybe Frankie's two boyfriends can join in on the game night fun next time.

How Dangerous Is Loneliness, Really? - Duration: 5:31.

[INTRO ♪]

Loneliness stinks.

We've probably all been there at one time or another, and there's no really arguing with the fact that it is no fun.

But it turns out that loneliness might have an even nastier set of tricks up its sleeve:

It could be wreaking havoc on our health and even cutting short our lives.

Um... what?

The Internet is full of headlines about how dangerous loneliness can be, but the idea that it causes more public health problems than obesity or that it can literally kill you is pretty wild.

Thankfully, things might not be quite as dire as a Google search might lead you to believe…

but it is worth taking a look at how loneliness can affect your health.

It's important to realize that loneliness isn't the same as social isolation, which is the state of being out of contact with society or other people.

Living alone or spending lots of time by yourself isn't bad, as long as it works for you.

Loneliness is more about the psychological consequences of having a gap between the interaction and social support you'd like and what you're actually getting.

When you think about it, loneliness is actually a pretty sensible thing, evolutionarily-speaking.

Psychologists have suggested that it could fulfill a role similar to hunger, urging us to seek out the kind of social companionship that helps us survive and pass along our genes.

But it can become kind of problematic when it stops being a short-term thing—like after a move to a new city—and becomes a long-term one.

Now, the stats on how many of us struggle with loneliness are honestly all over the place.

But many studies have shown that rates are highest among adolescents, and some have suggested that loneliness becomes more prevalent again very late in life.

Recent surveys in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand have suggested that about 10-30% of adolescents and young adults and about 10-15% of the elderly experience persistent loneliness.

One study even suggested that loneliness can be contagious.

In other words, how lonely your friends and neighbors are can predict your future loneliness, maybe because lonely people tend to pull away from others.

So, you know, that's great.

Even though it might be hard to pin down exactly how common loneliness is, there's actually quite a lot of evidence that it's linked to a number of health problems.

It's been associated with higher levels of the stress hormone cortisol, higher blood pressure, and increased risk of heart disease.

It's also been linked to lower activity in genes that reduce inflammation, and even to dementia.

But in that case, it's not clear if loneliness causes the condition or if the condition itself causes loneliness.

Loneliness can also mean that the things we normally do to protect our health are less effective.

For example, it can predict poorer sleep and make us less likely to exercise.

A 2005 study of 83 college freshmen also found that the immune systems of the students with the highest levels of loneliness were less responsive to certain components of vaccinations.

And yes, there's even some evidence that loneliness is linked to dying sooner, although to be clear, the jury's still out on that one.

Yeah, so that's a lot.

But what could possibly make loneliness havesuch a powerful effect on us?

Right now, there isn't a lot of data looking at the same individuals over a long time, which makes it hard to say for sure.

But the generally accepted hypothesis has to do with loneliness' ability to increase stress and shut down those protective health behaviors.

The idea is that, in an evolutionary sense, social isolation is similar to being unsafe.

There's no one around to support or protect you, which would have been bad news for early humans, so it triggers all that fight-or-flight stuff.

It activates the HPA axis, a system spread throughout your body that coordinates your stress responses and gets the cortisol pumping.

This makes us hypervigilant to other social threats, which probably compounds the loneliness problem by making us not very nice to other people.

After all, CONSTANT VIGILANCE! never made Mad-Eye Moody many friends.

Being on high alert all the time also takes away from our ability to control our behaviors.

So goodbye gym, hello package of corn dogs!

Which, you know, I've heard is not great for your health, even if they are the best.

The good news is that there has been a substantial bit of research done on how to counter loneliness and its effects.

And thankfully, it's more helpful than just, like, "Go out and make some friends! Go to the ... bar!"

One meta-analysis found that group activities with an educational or discussion focus could reduce loneliness in older adults, and psychologists also recommend volunteering or doing good deeds for others.

Or you could get a pet!

Obviously we all know our pets our wonderful and perfect, but there's also legit research in older adults showing that animal-assisted therapy can reduce feelings of loneliness.

Even though the Internet often gets a bad rap, studies have also shown that chatting in forums can help, too.

And other research showed that social media that's based around images and video offers more intimacy than text-based social media and can make you feel more connected to people.

So, you know, just keep hanging out with us!

Loneliness is never fun, and it doesn't seem to be great for your body, either.

But there are ways to get out of that slump.

And at the end of the day, there's nothing wrong with seeking out professional help, too.

Fingerloop Braid: "A Grene Dorge of VI Bowes" c. 1475 - Duration: 14:25.

Good morning, I'm Morgan Donner and today I am excited to share with you my

absolute all-time favorite, number one, fingerloop braid pattern!

There are already a number of really great YouTube tutorials on how to do fingerloop braiding,

but I haven't seen any on my particular favorite pattern, so I figured

I'd show you that today! Without much ado, let's get into it!

So we're gonna start out here with a total of six strings,

four of one color, one of another, one of another.

The more observant of you might note that each of my 'loops'

is actually two! For our purposes, pretend each of them is just one. I doubled up

because I wanted to hopefully make it a little bit more visible for you guys.

Do forgive the state of my table here, it's a work table which means it sees a lot of rough wear and tear.

Putting all of your loops together and keeping them

nice and taut, we want them to all be exactly the same length!

I'm going to get to the end here - I'm gonna actually hold on to this end, because I'm pretty sure

that that way is nice and neat, and I'm going to toss this end into a knot.

We need to go ahead and secure this end down, keep it from moving around on us!

And for that, I have this handy-dandy table clamp! So you can get all sorts of

clamps in many varieties, I'll try to link some below, but this is the one I

happen to have, I think it came as part of an embroidery kit of some kind?

Next we're gonna want to secure this bundle to our table clamp and you could

just I guess toss it down but then once you've made your braid you'll end up

having to cut this off at least with my particular table clamp solution here, so

what I like to do is actually make a separate little loop holder. I'm just

gonna grab some excess string I have and then tie this into a little loop. I don't

know the name of this technique (I guarantee it has a name) but what I do is

let my fingers in, pull them up and around, and then together!

So we're gonna slip that over the knot, pull it tight, and then you can hook this

around your clamp. Whenever we're done, you can very easily undo that

little "knot" there, and won't have to sacrifice any of your braids to get it off of your clamp!

All right, so I've got my loops tied to my table here

(I don't know if you can actually see it from where you are)

We are all ready to start

braiding, do get comfortable, you're gonna be here a little while!

So I want to separate out my different colors here, my different loops.

I'll kind of jdooosh around here with my different loops until I've got them all detangled

from each other ...

So to start off with, we're going to take the color that we

have four of, in my case it's red, and we're gonna put that on the middle two

fingers on each hand. Then you have your two leftover colors, one's gonna go on

your index, the other is gonna go on your pinky of the right hand. It doesn't

really matter which one's which, they're gonna get switched throughout this process.

Just a really quick aside I don't necessarily recommend this as your

very first braid to try, as I mentioned there's lots of videos showing really

good starter braids, and I will make sure to link those below,

as well as Fingerloop.org, which is a really great website to learn how to do this.

There's also a book "Tak V Bowes Departed" (I think that's the right name) and that's

a really great one too I've lost my copy otherwise I would have shown you a

picture of the cover but I'll link to that below as well.

So our index finger is going to be doing a lot of the grabbing today, I'm going to take my

index finger and go through this first loop, I know that's kind of tricky!

Here, let me move it this way .... so I kind of move my middle finger back here so

that I can go through that first loop and then also through the second. I

realize that's tricky,

(I did say this is probably not a good beginner braid!)

but I have my index finger through those two braids and then using my thumb to help

the grabbing and kind of hold it open for a second.

I'm going to take this bottom loop reversed. If I was taking it exactly as

it was, I would just let go of it and then take it, but instead I

actually want to take it upside down.

So I'm grabbing from the bottom, coming in through - I have my loop! There we go!

I've successfully transferred the loop through onto my right hand.

Four over here, two over here, then we're going to lower

this one down one, so I'm going to just shift that down ... there we go!

So now I'm going to reach through using the one that I just removed it from,

gonna reach through with my middle finger and grab the ring finger on the other side also

reversed so I'm grabbing the bottom I'm not just doing a simple transfer instead

I'm grabbing through the bottom ... there we go! Reversing it, pulling it through, ta-da!

Alright, last tricky step here is we're going to exchange our two different

colors, in this case: white and green.

It doesn't really matter whether I go green over white or if I go white over green.

As long as I do it the same way every time, it doesn't matter!

The way I like to do it is green over white ... grab that, and pull!

Now something I haven't really mentioned because I've

been kind of focused on showing the steps, is you do want to tighten by

pulling this taut each time and there we go! We want to try and do that between

pretty much every string movement, particularly ones where the string

exchanges hands so something to keep in mind! And we want to start the same way

we did the beginning, which means that these ones need to walk down ... come on,

here we go, it's actually kind of hard to do it

loose, .... I guess I don't know why I'm trying to do it loose!

And then this one middle finger .... there we go! I think I am a little bit too

close to the camera here, but unfortunately once you've got stuff

on your fingers it's a little bit hard to move things around, so bear with me as

I'm very kind of up close and personal here!

So that is one round down, now

just do that about fifty - eighty - hundred more times and then you have a completed braid!

So I keep on wanting to say things like 'index' and

what have you, but I need to stick with the names A, B, C, and D! Need to remember

that! Same here: A B C D. Hopefully the slight angle change will help you

guys out a little bit. A is gonna go through B and C, it's gonna come over

here and take the left C reversed.

Move the left B down to C then through C

we're gonna steal C off the other hand!

Now we need to always remember to exchange

A on left and D on the right: that is what's going to get our pretty

pretty pattern at the end! And then these need to walk down.

A, through B, through C, take C reversed!

Move C down on the left hand, steal C from the other hand,

and then switch A and D.

Then reset so we are just like we were at the beginning! *Success noises*

Now you can set down your loops, it's tricky though.

So make sure that you remember how you set them down. If I have to set down, I

always go "Claws Down"/ hands down. I try and spread my fingers

out and carefully place my strings.

So I can see that I've got my three loops, I know that I put them down in the same starting

position, never set them down in some random 'middle of your steps', that's no

good! Set them down the same way that you would pick them up at the very very

beginning. And now when I need to pick these back up, I can grab my three loops

and put them on my fingers and continue going about my business!

I thought you guys might appreciate "a how I do the pulling apart motion", which I wasn't

necessarily super clear on earlier. Each time I transfer bows from one hand to

the other, I go ahead and do this sort of finger-wiggly, pushy-outy, movement!

This is actually something that can be very handy to have a extra set of hands for,

because you can have one person at one end, sitting here doing the loop

manipulation and you'll have another person at the far end where the strings

come together constantly beating it back with a stick or something: that way you

always have a very tight braid which is pretty nice! Whenever you're doing it all

by yourself, like I am today, there is a little bit of a tendency to end up with

slightly looser braid at the beginning, and then a slightly tighter braid by the

end! Because you get more leverage as you go along.

I totally thought that this was

going to be more of a "chat with me for a bit"

- video but turns out I kind of need to concentrate on what I'm doing a little

bit, so apparently I can't really hold much of a conversation while I'm

concentrating on what I'm doing!

This would, however, be a really great time to put on a podcast or audio book!

#notsponsored

I genuinely really enjoy

listening to a bunch of different podcasts and audiobooks!

Do you guys have any particular favorite podcasts that you want to recommend?

I'm always always looking to check out some more!

Nope, nope! No, don't grab that one! Yeah see,

I can't talk and braid at the same time apparently!

I keep finding myself getting distracted and almost grabbing the wrong string.

If you do accidentally end up grabbing the wrong string or you drop a string and

you're not sure if you picked it back up correctly, which happens, definitely!

It's not a big deal - yes, your pattern is gonna be a little interrupted, you might see a

slight deviation in the pattern if you were to look at the finished braid, but

that's fine! It'll still be a perfectly functional

braid in the end, which is all that matters right?

It's looking pretty! I don't know if you guys can see it ....

you know what, what am i doing? I should show you guys a close-up of what I'm all about here!

I keep touting this as my favorite braid and I haven't even gone through the trouble of showing you what it looks like!

My string bits are just about done, you can see I've about run

out of room here. I think I might just call that good enough!

So here is the end of our cord hopefully that's focusing there we go I

really really love this pattern I just I dig the contrast of the the edges it's

kind of actually a nicely compact and stiff bit of cord now let's see let's

compare our beginning in our end here okay not not too bad so here's the end

and here's the beginning you can see that like I said that first centimeter

or two is always going to be a little off and iffy but we're actually not too

bad you can see that occasionally I do make mistakes you can see here I must

have messed something up I'm kind of my white stitch is sort of sunken back down

in there somehow I also did something funny here see how that section is a

little bit skinnier than the rest around it I must have done something something

funny there with my loops little imperfections will happen but you know

this is still a perfectly usable length of cord and will suit my purposes just

fine so do stay tuned for the next video in a week or two where I show what I'm

actually making this braid for have a great day guys

Best Bank for Penny Boxes - Bank Battle Round 4! - Duration: 12:54.

it's time once again for battle of the banks with pennies

hey everybody its Rob with Rob finds treasure and if you're watching my battle of the bank box

series you'll know that I'm on battle number four so far in the battles Bank

of America is leading the way in points but Chase has won two of the three

rounds Wells Fargo's holding up the rear and I knew it was time to get two

different banks when I started scoring less and less fines in my Wells Fargo

boxes that being said don't count them out

they've been reliable to me forever I've got three different boxes here I got the

traditional face tall and skinny box the usual Wells Fargo showing the Enders box

and I got my favorite boxes that I don't see too often the box with the holes in

it are B of a I've already checked those two friend errs I didn't see anything

that was like whoa look at me other kasam so we have still yet to check the

Bank of America I did look through the holes in the bottom they're definitely

circulated rolls I didn't see anything on the bottom that said it was awesome

but figured I would go ahead and open the top live with you since I haven't

done that yet or need to check them for circulation when you can see through the

bottom which is why I like these ones the best let's see if we have any Enders

and I don't really see anything fancy schmancy we got some damaged coins here

there are some detector finds but nothing says I'm a wheat cent so I don't

think those are the enters in this box but we're kicking off to hunt with B of

a once again as always I'll loop you in if it finds of the worst showing whoop

this that sheet and we'll see which bank wins this battle round well I must have

missed one through the holes because I took the first roll out and I flipped it

around and we're gonna kick off of the Canadian it's not a young head so it's

probably in the late 60s maybe seventies let's find out

got that Canadian tender here and it's actually gonna be a 1965 first year non

young head well it took us 13 rolls but in this case rule number 13 could be a

lucky one because he found our first wheat cent here and it's a 1942 D we're

on the board thanks to roll thirteen run our 16 second wheat penny in the box

facing me 58 d well number 19 is gonna find another wheat penny here but it's

another 58 d I believe it is but it's wheat penny number three bolt warnings

gonna have our fourth wheat penny I think this one's a 1950 D under 28 gonna

have our fifth wheat penny in the box hopefully it's a little bit older it is

a 1935 d not a key or semi key but still I could find and the oldest and a pre

40s roll 33 you're gonna have our 6th wheat penny of the box 1958 d roll 38

wheat penny number 756 d roll 40 is gonna have another wheat penny and it's

gonna be another more modern one another 1956 d well that'd be ma boxes hunted

guys we only got eight wheat pennies the oldest was a 35 so we'll take it

we did find 159 in one Canadian and 1609 s so not a very heavy box at all for B

of a that's been leading the way after three rounds this rounds up for grabs

though between Chase and Wells Fargo but now it's time to go to the chase box

roll number three of the Chase Bank box and we've got ourselves our first wheat

penny it's just a 55 d but it gets us on the board roll six we've got another

wheat penny here and I believe this one is a 1949 a little bit toasty

but we'll take it roll number 10 we're gonna have a couple of wheat pennies

here because I see a 1945 face in me and there's some weenie airs back there so

let's check out the 45 first pretty clean 1945 we'll take that that is now

the oldest of the box and we'll grab this one right here as well so two and a

roll it's been a while since I had that that feels pretty good

and this one's a 51's take a 51's roll number 12 and we've got our fifth wheat

penny already Oh see what it is 46 rule 16 gonna have our sixth wheat

penny at the box another 51 but this one's a Denver rule 17 our seventh wheat

penny and this one's in 1942 Philadelphia that is now the oldest of

the box rule 19 we're gonna find our eighth wheat penny of the box and this

one's in 1940 that's now the oldest of the box same role few coins later in

1952 D we're on row number 20 and I'm gonna have a 1940 something wheat penny

ender you see if I can set it down and get a better look at it for you guys you

can just make it out we'll figure out what it is when I get in the roll but

not sweet penny number 10 already in 20 rules could be a great box the ender was

a 41's all right not the oldest but that's a nice find rule 25 and we're

gonna have our eleventh wheat penny of the box and this one is a 47 D roll

number 28 it's gonna have back-to-back wheat pennies I just happened to pull

these down I think I see a 1950 here 1950 D yeah and then right behind it

another wheat penny could be old it's a 40s I believe it is

so that's 13 wheat pennies and 28 rolls roll 30 is gonna give us our 14th wheat

penny and it's a 44 I think yeah 44 Denver roll 32 15th wheat penny of

the box and look at that a 1928 D I'll take a 20s we D in that condition all

day beautiful oldest of the box roll 36 just lay them out in the back popped out

a wheat penny 47 D roll 39 wheat penny number 17 and it's another 40's same

roll a few coins later 1956 D we penny number 18 right one two three four five

six seven eight nine 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 42 we're gonna have our first

for another box 1999 Canadian row 43 another Canadian second foreign 1968

same row we've got a 1955 d wheat penny that's wheat penny number 19

well we hit 20 roll number 50 last roll the box and we're gonna find a wheat

penny towards the last part of the roll I thought we were doing 420 but it

doesn't even matter that's a 58 d with cool toning it sweet penny number 20 in

the box I got you here miles we'll see if

there's any more wheat pennies there's not well get your wrap up chase came

through this time when you finished that chase box of pennies guys and we had a

good amount of copper 1409 stew horns we did find a 59 a 69 s3a you type

coins 19 coins that are wheat pennies from 1942 58 and one another one to make

20 wheat pennies and this was a 28 d so I really put up the stat sheet on this

one it's gonna be tough for Wells Fargo to beat it and even if it does not beat

it this is gonna bring Chase's average up quite a bit last box of the battle

Wells Fargo rollin are two of the Wells Fargo box and we're gonna get our first

wheat penny in the box could be Oh or it could just be a toasted 40s 41 D on the

board rule number three and have our first foreign find of the box it's

Canadian 1972 roll number seven gonna be our second wheat penny in the box

58 d rolled over 12 and pulled it out check the ends and we've got another

1940-something wheat penny under all my Enders lately that our wheat pennies

have been in the forties it seems like let's take a look wait penny under is

actually a 1940 D oldest of the Box me penny number three roll number 20

we're gonna have our four three penny of the box and it's a straight-up 1956

Philadelphia rolled over 24 three penny number five 1951 D rule 28 wheat penny

number 6 1942 filly rule number 32 we're gonna have a nice-looking wheat penny

right here very nice at least better than you see most of them 53d got pretty

trashy on the front but still it's got some of there's no gloss can't get mad

at that roll number 40 wheat penny number 856 D

rule 47 we're gonna wheat penny and I don't know if it's really worn or if

it's a 40 something

I think that's a 40 something that's just worn yep I think that's a 41

I don't know every just be in 1940 with some damage but it's definitely a four

we'll call it in 1940 because it's the worth the same amount of points unless

it was in the 30s rule 48 is gonna give us wheat penny number 10 55 not exactly

old but old enough well we finished that Wells Fargo box we had 10 wheat pennies

the oldest was a 40 we didn't end up with 1409 s14 and 459 and 169 s and a

lot of copper I don't think Wells Fargo is gonna take this round looks like

chases but let's go to the stat sheet and see who won well it was no contest

guys Wells Fargo 31 and a half points Bank of America 28 chase won the third

straight box 58 points so now chase leads the way at forty two point six

points per box 37 one for B of a and 34 one for Wells Fargo chase is running

away with it early on but that's only four out of the ten boxes hopefully you

enjoyed this battle of the Bank boxes once again around four curious to see if

chase can continue the dominancy of the pennies or Wells Fargo he got its first

ever win the good news is it's clear to me that my Wells Fargo boxes were

starting to get weak which is why I wanted to do this series hopefully

you're enjoying it if you are I'd appreciate a thumbs up and as always

everyone happy hunting and thanks for watching

you're mad I just sacrificed your brother to the gods of Satan or whatever

guess I'll just sacrifice one of these sons of bitches on there I'm also

putting Nosferatu on there what happens when you put the vampire on the Satanist

symbol I don't think vampires and Satan are really related but we'll see it's

gonna stack a whole bunch of bodies remove stranger any new strange noise

brought day that's got that nice brought dinner oh it's gone whatever that was

dumb goddamn it anyways we solved the mystery of Satan was there a way I could

have done that without killing all those guys I feel kind of guilty I'm gonna

Zara Larsson on Feminism & the Story Behind Her Single 'Ruin My Life' | TRL - Duration: 3:32.

Now we're in a time,

whether it's television or music.

Women are kind of feeling liberated

and they have a certain freedom of speech.

Do you feel that free in your songs?

I-- I do. I feel free myself.

I feel like I am quite confident

in what I believe in,

and I've been very vocal about the stuff I believe in.

Like, I am of course, I'm a strong feminist.

All those values are really who I am.

And it's interesting, because artists these days,

and fans, like, they wanna know more than just the music.

Absolutely. And they wanna know who the person is.

And I feel like my-- my fans and I,

we really-- we're definitely on the same page.

Cool young women are speaking up,

and I live for that.

Now, speaking of live for it,

we're gonna get into the music. Okay.

Because recently you just dropped your single,

"Ruin My Life," and I'm mad at you. (laughing)

Because you ruined my life

with all of the slayage in the scene.

So tell me about the new single.

Tell me about the video. Give us the deets.

The single is my first one from the upcoming project.

I think it's definitely a situation

where everyone's been in at least once.

Where you're like, "This person is not good for me,

but I can't help it." You know.

You really just wanna call

after a few drinks, you might be like,

"It's a bad idea, but let me text."

You know, that kind of toxic love,

but still something everyone goes through,

and I just wanted to get that off my chest.

I've been in a bad relationship where you're like,

"Oh, this isn't good for me, but I still want it."

I see you're opening up, so let's go back to the video,

because I have to tell you, I kept replaying it.

Not only was I feeling your dance moves,

the looks that you were giving and serving.

Do you have a favorite scene?

And tell us about the visual process.

I think my favorite was for sure when I had to--

or got to wear this, like, really nice yellow thing going on.

That's my favorite.

I was, I felt so, like nice in it,

with the little fluffy shoes

and the whole thing, was just really cute.

I felt like a sexy... Very Rihanna "Savage."

Very, yeah! Like little--

Like Easter girl, almost.

And the first time in my life I had a two-day shoot.

Wow. Which I felt so exclusive.

Doesn't it? You know, it's not really common

that people have that these days.

Uh, but I had so much fun.

Like the team was incredible.

It was just two really nice days.

It was cool to do it with Charlotte,

who directed the video.

She has just such a-- an amazing way

of capturing women.

I think it is a different thing

when a woman is doing a music video for a woman.

Yes. It's still sexy, sensual.

But at the same time,

they're glossy, classy, and beautiful.

Yeah. I love it.

And guess what, it definitely

came across on camera, and it was so good.

Thank you. And speaking of "So Good,"

that was your last album. Yeah.

It was really good,

and it performed well across the board.

But the fans want to know-- I mean, I wanna know--

(laughing) What is going on with this next album?

Can you give us any detail?

Uh, it's so hard to say where I am at right now.

'Cause I have over 100 songs in my library.

Ooh. And it's really like,

killing your babies to picking out the songs.

I feel like I'm-- I'm maybe 70%.

And I really want to release it early spring.

Thank you so much, Zara, for coming to "TRL."

And you guys make sure that you check out her new single,

"Ruin My Life," available now.

GRAVITY - Rogue Astrophysics - Duration: 12:14.

Hello, this is Eleni,

I am an astrophysicist

and today I will tell you a story about the Universe

and the black hole

at the centre of our Milky Way.

26.000 years ago,

light rays from a star at the centre of our galaxy

started their journey towards Earth!

This star went past the centre of the galaxy,

at a distance so small,

thus giving the opportunity to scientists

to validate the General Theory of Relativity in May 2018,

by studying the extreme conditions

around a black hole.

And bonus!

The three (radiation) bursts, or flares, occurring last June,

hence proving the existence of a black hole

at the centre of our galaxy.

But let's take things right from the start.

What is the General Theory of Relativity?

In 1915, Albert Einstein

published his General Theory of Relativity,

which described gravity

as a geometrical property of space and time.

It was the first time

that the entity of space was united with that of time into a single one,

forming the so-called "spacetime".

General Theory of Relativity

is different to the notion of classical mechanics

and the Newton's Universal Law of Gravitation.

The Universal Law of Gravitation

describes the interaction between two objects

attracting one another as a function of their masses

and, consequently, their mutual

gravitational attraction.

However, under the General Theory of Relativity,

an object having mass

can alter the properties of its surrounding space and time.

Imagine a group of children

holding a circular sheet from its edges, and keeping it totally stretched,

then throwing a heavy ball at the centre of this sheet.

The ball will cause the sheet to "sink"

in the same way that our Sun

or a black hole for instance,

make the spacetime "sink".

Or as stated scientifically, make it bend.

This way, every object with non-zero mass

bends spacetime.

If these children throw a smaller ball on the sheet,

this ball will move on its surface

and follow the curve of the surface.

Similarly, as the Earth orbits the Sun

or as an object rotates around a black hole,

it follows the curvature of spacetime

created by the black hole,

due to its mass.

Despite the fact that the General Theory of Relativity

has been validated multiple times until now:

either in lab conditions

or by detecting gravitational waves

due to colliding black holes,

for example,

it has not been verified for the extreme conditions

around a black hole.

An environment of tremendous gravitational pull,

where time goes by in a different manner,

where matter is trapped,

and even light is being bent

and cannot escape!

In order for the General Theory of Relativity to be

validated in an extreme environment,

such as that surrounding a black hole,

scientists should make a precise observation

of how the black hole

affects its surroundings.

They thus need a black hole,

a supermassive black hole,

located near-by,

and to observe it with the most powerful telescopes.

This is why they started observing the centre of our Galaxy,

the location where the nearest black hole exists.

Based on observations and many years of research,

we know that a dense radiation source exists

at the centre of our Galaxy,

known as Sagittarius A* (Sgr A*),

emitting at a wide range of the electromagnetic spectrum,

from X-rays to radio wavelengths,

with the source's luminosity

varying

as a function of time.

This source is probably associated

with a black hole

4.14 million times

more massive than our Sun,

the star of our solar system.

Due to its huge mass,

it attracts the matter surrounding it.

For example, if any stars are situated in close distance,

they will be orbiting

the black hole,

just like the Earth orbits the Sun.

After a series of observations taking place the last 26 years,

we know that Sgr A*

is surrounded by a dense cluster

of young and old stars,

whose orbits we are well aware of.

The most important fact is that

we have mapped

the orbit of the closest star to Sgr A*,

named S2,

with high precision.

We can easily predict

the exact point in space at which S2

will be at every instant!

The scientific groups that made the observations

these 26 years are based

in Europe and USA,

utilising ESO's

New Technology Telescope, NTT,

the Very Large Telescope (VLT),

as well as Keck Telescopes.

S2 needs 16 years

to make a full orbit

around the centre of our Galaxy.

Similarly, Earth needs 1 year

to complete a full orbit around the Sun.

Scientists knew exactly

where and when they should turn

the telescope upon S2

to conduct their experiment,

test the General Theory of Relativity,

waiting 16 years for this to happen!

Another important fact

was the need of verifying that this star S2

was not a binary star,

a system of two stars orbiting one another,

around their own barycentre.

This class of stars

are usually found

in pairs.

In this occasion, the experiment

would be much more challenging,

as they would have to take into account

the binary's relative motion.

By observing 10,000 star orbits

of approximately 45 stars,

they verified that S2 has no pair indeed!

It's a single star!

Maybe this is the reason it has all the fun!

The most recent observations,

with the highest precision to date,

were conducted by an international group of scientists,

led by Reinhard Genzel

of Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics (MPE)

in Garching, Germany,

in association with scientists

from Universities and Institutes all around the world.

And they finally did it!

Last May,

when S2 was at the closest proximity

to Sgr A*,

ust 120 Astronomical Units (AU) away,

they turned the most powerful infrared telescope

towards S2.

What was that telescope?

It was "GRAVITY" of course!

GRAVITY is a state-of-the-art

astronomical instrument

part of the Very Large Telescope (VLT),

situated in Chile.

And it is an interferometer.

It accumulates observations

from all 4 reflective VLT telescopes,

each with a 8.2m mirror, in one single point.

How can we pull this off?

All 4 telescopes observe the same source.

Light enters each telescope

and starts a trip,

going through mirrors and circuits,

so that all 4 light rays

will combine into

a single one.

Why is this done?

The reason is to zoom in,

just like we zoom with our phone camera.

So, the aim (of the experiment)

is the observation of a highly distinguishable

astronomical object

in order to be told apart

from its neighbouring objects.

For instance,

if two objects in the sky

are located at a distance less than

1 millionth of the degree

from one another,

then GRAVITY is able to discern them!

This is truly tiny!

Imagine that the Moon

is approximately half degree in the sky

so we can observe all these

little details on its surface,

even with our naked eye.

However, this would never be possible with the centre of our Galaxy!

That is why we need GRAVITY!

GRAVITY operates at the infrared part

of the electromagnetic spectrum,

more specifically at 2μm.

The reason for this specification

is the great amount of dust

at the centre of our Galaxy

that makes the observations

with optical telescopes harder,

raising a wall

between us and the object

we want to observe.

On the other hand,

telescopes operating in the infrared

part of the spectrum

are "blind" to space dust,

as they are able to observe through it!

This results into a better view

of objects located

behind the "dust veil".

Thus, GRAVITY used

its penetrative "eyes"

to observe the centre of our Galaxy

and distinguish S2 from Sgr A*,

when the star was only

3 millionth of a degree,

approximately 20 billion kilometres,

away from the black hole,

at its closest proximity,

known also as "pericentre".

What did they learn from this?

Scientists that built GRAVITY

aimed to study an astronomical effect

widely know as

gravitational redshift.

In simple terms,

this effect describes

what will happen when a photon

(travelling at the speed of light)

will try to escape

a very massive object.

The photon's speed will remain the same,

although the gravitational pull from the massive object

will cause the photon

to give part of its energy

out to its surroundings.

So, if the General Theory of Relativity is valid

around the black hole,

then the light from the star that reaches us on Earth

will shift to higher wavelengths, as an effect of the radiation

interacting with the black hole.

Thus it happened!

The wavelength of the S2's that was observed by scientists

was shifted to higher wavelengths,

as predicted by the General Theory of Relativity.

The story did not end there though!

A few weeks later,

they got lucky once again!

In June 2018,

radiation bursts were observed

taking place at the centre of our galaxy.

These bursts are similar to the solar flares

on our Sun's surface,

i.e. explosions

attributed to the star's strong magnetic fields.

In total, they observed 3 bursts.

All of the observations were spectacular!

The material that was observed

moved at a speed 30% to that of light

around Sgr A*.

The area which these bursts

originated from

is situated very close to the black hole,

closer than the location of S2,

in a region known

as "accretion disk"

and more specifically close to the point of

no return,

the event horizon!

The event horizon is the last point

around the black hole

before an object gets lost inside it.

In other words,

if an object or piece of information

passes the event horizon,

we will no longer be able to see it

or be able to reach that piece of information.

By making their mathematical calculations,

they concluded

that Sgr A*

is a Schwarzschild-Kerr type black hole:

this means that it is rotating around itself

and contains an even horizon.

Also, the black hole appears to be symmetrical,

if it is rotated around an axis,

similarly to a vase being symmetrical.

Really amazing news!

We know now that Sgr A* is probably

a black hole,

we know its type,

its mass,

its vicinity,

we validated the General Theory of Relativity

at the most extreme of all environments...

However, are we ever going

to be able to actually see this black hole?

Or even take a photo of it?

Scientists from the

Event Horizon Telescope group

aim to do exactly this thing:

take a photo of the black hole

στο κέντρο του Γαλαξία at the centre of our galaxy!!

How?

By using telescope from all around the globe,

thus creating the most powerful camera!

A camera with a size similar to that of Earth!

The network of all these telescope is known as

"Very Long Baseline Interferometry" (VLBI).

This requires the observations to be performed simultaneously

to 1 millionth of a second,

something that could be achieved using the Global Positioning System (GPS).

Furthermore, the observations should be as stable as possible

and not precede one another.

This last thing will be possible by utilising atomic clocks

or hydrogen masers,

which miss only

1 second every 100 million years.

A lot better that your average clock!

Up until now, we only have photos

of the black holes

that are generated by a number of different simulations.

A reason for this is that

we use a number of models

to process our observations

and there is a chance we could have

many models to match our observations.

With the use of complicated algorithms,

a number of realistic models

is picked out,

thus creating the final image.

Something not at trivial or easy.

EHT attempts to observe

this dark centre

shown by the simulation at radio wavelengths,

the "shadow" of the dark hole.

The wavelength observed is

in the band of radio waves

and more specifically at 1mm,

the green part of the photo.

The reason for this is that the accretion disk

becomes transparent at this wavelength,

meaning that we can study

what lies past the accretion disk

and see what exists

close to the event horizon

and observe the "shadow".

So, we are eagerly waiting

for the first photo of the black hole

at the centre of our galaxy!

There is something telling me

that we will have it really soon!

rev up your engines, Aaron says Scotty what do you think about McLaren, if you

have an endless amount of money to spend get a McLaren, I've driven them and they

drive like scalded Apes, those are insane English sports cars that cost a fortune

of course and only rich boys can drive those things around, but they are really

interesting design, realize that all these Formula one cars they're almost

all designed by English people in England, it doesn't matter which

companies they are, they hire these English engineers

my next-door neighbor is English she's from England, her father had a giant

mansion and owned a steel company and when they nationalized it he lost that, well

one of his sons is an engineer he's English but he's a Formula one engineer

for ferrari, so the english are really good at designing stuff like that

they're really into race cars, jerry Schmidt says Scotty any opinions on

first generation Miatas the ones with the pop-up headlights just bought one

with two hundred and five thousand miles any comments on them, those were fun little

sports cars, now hopefully got one with the standard transmission, the automatic

transmissions were garbage and you got one with two hundred five

thousand miles if it was an automatic I'm sure it would shift horribly it wouldn't

run very good at all it doesn't have much power, but the standard transmission

ones they were cute little sports cars, they can last a long time and they're

cheap to buy, they sold quite a few of them and the resale values aren't

particularly high because it'll never be a real collector's item like you know a

67 Mustang or something, so you can get a good price on them and the parts are

still readily available for them so if it runs good especially if it's a

standard transmission, yeah you could have gotten a good deal on it, just don't

pay too much of course cuz it's an old Japanese sporty little car that never

was worth all that much money, king smurf says Scotty a 92 Dodge Stealth single

overhead cam v6 five-speed are they collectibles not really

the v-6 engines are like meh, nobody wanted the v6 engines, people in the Dodge

products they want the v8 engines, they want the big ones they don't want

the little bitty ones, nobody's that interested in them, I mean if you can get one

cheap and driving around, have some fun with it, but I don't think that will ever

be a collectors item because with dodge everybody's thinking of

muscle cars and the v6 engines, nobody gives a hoot about the v6 engines, they just didn't care about them

and they were never that popular with anybody, everybody wanted the 8's just

like you know, you're gonna get a charge or a challenge or everybody wants to get

a hellcat with a v8 and that they don't want the six-cylinder engines, now the

six-cylinder engines are okay but they'll never be collectors items, nobody really

wants those, they want the v7's, razor says what's a good car

to start with, a good car to start with if you want something's gonna last go to

Craigslist and get an old Toyota Corolla or an old Camry doesn't matter if it's 25

30 years old if it still runs and goes good, it's a great car to start with

because they were simple, they didn't break that much, parts are available and

the parts are relatively cheap because now all the Corollas and camrys you

can get parts from China and so there's plenty of cheap parts available they

worked perfectly good, that's a good starter car because everything's

out there you're not gonna pay much for one, so if it gets wrecked and something

goes wrong, take both of my sons, both of them wreck the first cars I got them so

you don't want to spend too much money on your first car, cuz odds are you're

probably gonna wreck the thing, Robert says why are Honda Pilot

transmissions so bad, well it's cuz its Honda, Honda is not an

automatic transmission company, but they make their own automatic transmissions

now you take Nissan, Nissan owns the company that makes their transmissions

Jatco, Toyota they own part of the company that makes their transmissions

Aisin, Aisin makes very good transmissions that's one of the reasons Toyota's don't

have problems, but Honda some reason they decided to make their own automatic

transmissions and they were never that good at it, I don't know they should have

just bought them from somebody else but they wanted to do the R&D and do it

themselves and they made a lot of horrible transmissions over ages and

since that's the pilot, which is really the biggest thing that Honda makes

Honda was never into making really big things, so of course a big thing the

transmissions strain more and they're gonna have more problems with it just

like their Honda Odyssey vans, they had transmission problems that's one of

their bigger vehicles and their transmissions had problems up the wazoo,

hey says I have a Dodge Durango 2002 it stalls when I hit bumps or

pot holes we changed the battery, spark plugs, and TPS we can't find the problem

ok you hit bumps and it stalls, something is knocking electricity loose, check all

the wiring connectors make sure that they're tight, unplug them all look

inside, if there's green that's corrosion and then you gotta clean it off with

spray electrical cleaner and put them back together again, something

electrical is probably shorting out and on those, especially check the main

computer, where the main computer is there's a huge wiring harness that clips in

unclip it and look for green corrosion on it because they will often get them

on those and then when you hit a bump that little bit of corrosion gets a

little bit loose and then it shuts off, somewhere something's either loose or

corroded that's knocking power out to your car and if you want to figure out

what it is, pay a mechanic like me to put his high level dealer scan tool on a take it

for road test over bumps and when it dies, it memorizes that data and it will

see what shut off then you'll know exactly where it is, that's how I figure

out what's wrong with them when I get something like that, so if you never want

to miss another one of my new car repair videos, remember to ring that Bell!

BUMBLE AT THE TEST: England must stick with spinners on dry pitch - Duration: 4:23.

England secured a significant victory in their first Test against Sri Lanka, sealing a 211-run win after another barn-storming display from spinner Moeen Ali

They are now gearing up for the second Test at the Pallekele Stadium in Kandy on Wednesday

smail's DAVID LLOYD brings you the latest from the tour. It's all plane sailing! You may recall I was looking ahead to my journey by road from Galle to Kandy, which can take up to seven hours, with some trepidation

Well, I'm delighted to say I didn't have to worry. Instead I got the chance to travel by sea plane along with Mike Atherton and what an adventure it was! Took off from the Indian Ocean and landed on Kandy Lake 35 minutes later

Fantastic!  The heat is really onI'm staying at the golf club here where I was billeted for the World T20 a few years ago and it's great

Had a round on Monday and, paired with Sky producer Rob Reeve, was triumphant against Ian Ward and Benny the cameraman

But that's my lot. I'm only going to play social golf from now on. It's too hot here!  Keep on spinning, England There has been torrential rain in Sri Lanka for weeks now — so much so that the dam on the lake has had to be opened — but the pitch at the Pallekele Stadium appears ultra dry

That's surprising but it points to one thing — England will have to abandon their plan to bring in an extra seamer and stick with three spinners

They will have to try to beat Sri Lanka at their own game again.  Jonny foots the bill The only selection issue for England is whether to try to squeeze Jonny Bairstow in as a specialist batsman

I'm not sure they will rush him back. It's absolutely right that the gloves stay with Ben Foakes

There's no way England could take them off him after a debut like that - and that means that Bairstow may have to count the cost of a very damaging game of football

A man's best friend I've got a new best friend. There are lots of dogs here on the streets of Sri Lanka and one of them has taken a shine to me and keeps on lying on my verandah

She seems to have a lot of male admirers. They won't leave her alone! You musn't tell 'Vipers' because she will want me to bring her home

Mongoose on the loose There's also a mongoose that trots past my villa from time to time

He's a grand little chap and I don't mind him but of course if there are mongooses about there's also snakes

I'm not too keen on them. They can stay away from me.

NaNoWriMo2018 Day 9 Vlog - Duration: 1:45.

So, day nine's off to a good start.

1147 words still staying head of that line there. Total words right now 19,894.

Emily, I just passed you and I think it is close to midnight your time, so

beating you for Friday! You're gonna have to pick up the pace if you're gonna win

this race to 25k! Now, I didn't pass by much though. In other news, the

Connecticut East Region has passed the 1 million word mark so yay, region! I have

no idea what our line would be for the region cuz they don't have how many people

that represents, but it's still pretty cool.

So, I cracked 20,000 words. There's that to be said for today. It's just been a

really long day. Lots of work trying to make sure I've

got everything squared away before the long weekend, so I am leaving at a

ridiculous hour and probably gonna go right to sleep when I get home. But I got

my word count in for today. So I'm calling it good. Whatever else I thought I was going

to talk about today is not happening though.
