Today ladies and gentlemen I'll be doing the try not to cry challenge where you watch really

sad videos and try not to cry.

Everyone on YouTube is doing it, and I feel left out so I'm doing it too.

But listen up okay, because this isn't your ordinary challenge video.

Oh nonono.

Sure, I could just watch the video, and call it a day but no okay everybody does that.

I'm spicing things up baby.

Yes I'll be watching a sad video. But first, I need to prepare myself.

And to do that, I'll be doing the most painful and sad things possible so I can get all my

tears out before I watch the video.

So let's do this thing.

First we gotta start out with the classic, ONION CHOPPING.

Everyone knows that onions make you cry.

The next time you do your laundry, you may want to check the expiration date of your

detergent? What's that? You didn't know detergent, or other household items, had a

shelf life? They do, and while they may not prove as harmful as drinking rotten milk,

if you use them past their designed time, they'll no longer be useful. Some items,

the more fibrous ones, can lead to health concerns, so pay attention and start writing

down your shopping list to replace these 10 Everyday Things You Didn't Know Had Expiration

Laundry Detergent/Bleach

The better you look, the better you feel. Strutting around town in freshly laundered

clothes, colors popping and white's shining is a great way to brighten your mood. Not

to mention, how slipping into just-washed sheets can bring a peaceful slumber. However,

if you don't wash your clothes often – maybe you have small family or your related to Pig

Pen from The Peanuts – your old laundry detergent may no longer be serving it's

purpose; may no longer be cleaning your clothes. While having your bleach or detergent go bad

isn't harmful to you, the ingredients within lose their effectiveness roughly six months

after being opened. Unopened bottles are recommended to be replaced after a year. Especially with

bleach, you're going to want to be sure you're actually killing germs when using

these cleaning products.

Fire Extinguishers

Technically, there isn't an official expiration date on fire extinguishers, regardless of

what chemical componets exist within the extinguisher. Though, they can definitely go bad, and this

one item you want to make sure works when you need it. Extinguishers are good between

five and fifteen years, which is a very broad range. Regular inspection will ensure your

safety should you ever fail at your attempt to create the winning dish on Top Chef. They

should be inspected at least yearly, ensuring the needle in the pressure gauge is in the

green. If not, replace immediately. If it's missing pieces, has cracked hoses, doesn't

have a gauge, or even if you don't have one, head out to the hardware store and spend

the money on a new one. Being prepared isn't just for Boy Scouts, it's a good life lesson.

Mattresses

Everyone knows it's illegal to rip the tag off a mattress – WAIT – that's not actually

true, the legal warning on the tiny tags at the foot of your bed is actually advising

seller. Reminding them selling used and soiled merchandise is not cool. So, when you get

a new mattress, grab the scissors and start slicing. If you want to avoid morning body

aches or restless nights, you should be cutting a tag off at least every ten years, five if

you can. If your mattress allows it, flip it yearly. If it's one-sided, be sure to

rotate it often to avoid starting sagging spots. If you're waking up with foggy eyes

or stuffed sinuses, that's also a bad sign as allergens probably have accumulated. Or

10 million dust mites, considering beds are where over one-third of them live.

Pillows

If you're waking up each morning with a headful of mucus, or unexpected allergies,

it could because of where you lay you head each night. People become attached to their

pillows, a f luffy cloud of serenity, gently cushioning your noggin each night. If your

peaceful pillow is more than two years old, it's also caressing your cranium with hundreds

of thousands of dead dust mites and their droppings. Yea… let that sink in. Over ten

percent of a pillow's weight, after two years, is made up bug parts and their poop.

According to researchers, pillows should be changed every six months, especially if you

don't have an allergen-free cover. Even then, at least yearly. It may seem like a

hassle, getting a new one each six months, but just think about dust mites dropping deuces

on your face, and it makes the decisions MUCH easier.

Power Strips and Extension Cords

Everyone has a family member that uses way too many power strips or extension cord to

hot-wire their electronic devices. While connecting too may connectors together is never a good

idea, if those power strips or cords are more than seven years old, it could be twice as

dangerous. After several years, the integrity of the components begins to break down, so

while it may keep the power on, if it takes even a slight surge it could light up your

house brighter than the Holiday decorations. Throughout it's life, a surge protector

takes a ton of little electrical surges, each one whittling away at the life expectancy

of the device. So, when you actually need it, it may not work, if it hasn't been replaced

recently. Don't lose your data because of bad protection.

Sunscreen

If you're a fair-skinned type, or just someone who is conscious of protecting your largest

organ – up to eight poounds of you is flesh - you should be aware that sunscreen is typically

only good for two years. Since it's not used every day, or even for months at a time

in the colder areas of the world, a large bottle can last someone several years. The

problem? After time, their effectiveness diminishes. All bottles should have an expiration date

on them, but some doctors recommending changing each year as some sunscreen lotions can cause

rash-like symptoms after being opened for over a year. If you have little ones, or you

just like your nose looking like a lifeguard, play it safe and hit the surf shop for sunscreen

at least once a year.

Receipts

When you make an expensive purchase, complete with a large warranty, you're going to want

to hang onto the receipt for as long as you own it, to ensure a hassle free (laughter)

exchange should something go wrong. The problem is, when you need those receipts, it might

be tough to read as the letters and numbers have faded away, leaving you out of luck.

Most register receipts are printed on a chemically coated thermal paper that uses heat to imprint

the ink onto it. Exposure to air and humidity can erase your proof of purchase in no time,

so it's a smart idea to make a copy of anything you REALLY need to save. If you discover a

faded receipt, use heat from a hair dryer or iron to bring the text back from the beyond.

Make-Up

Everyone likes to look good; why do you think mirrors exist? A common component of getting

dressed-up? Make-up. Unless you wear it every day, and are always buying replacements, most

make-up should be replaced every six months. Foundation, blush and lipstick can go a little

longer, but still should be thrown away after being owned for 365 days or more. If you are

using older products, it shouldn't have an adverse effect on your skin, but there

is no point in taking chances, especially if you know that make-up cases and applicators

are a haven for bacteria. Eye-liner and mascara, in particular, tend to pick-up a lot of unwanted

microbes being so close to an opening in your body, and probably when being set on your

sink that needed to be cleaned a few weeks ago, full of soap scum and nail clippings.

Water

When the oil dries up, water is going to be our next most valuable resource. Need reference?

Watch any post-apocalyptic movie; H2O is more valuable than gold. However, if that water

is bottled, you need to heed the expiration dates to avoid ingesting a little more than

spring water. While the dates on bottle usually reference the freshness of the water, after

two years, the plastic bottles can begin breaking down, slowing leaking chemicals into your

thirst quencher. Something all those doomsday-preppers probably didn't think about. One more thing,

ever notice how a glass of tap water taste stale in the morning? That's because the

warming temperatures of the liquid amplify the chemicals contained it, since most contains

chlorine and usually travels through hundreds of miles of rusty pipes before entering your

glass.

Underwear and Bras

One would think the items closet to openings in our body, particularly the orifices whose

function is to remove waste, would be replaced the most frequently, Alas, it's one of the

longest articles of clothing people retain. One recent survey found that men keep underwear

an average of seven years, while women will wear the same bra for much longer than they

should. To ensure your bra is fully supporting you, you should replace them roughly every

six months as the elastic and braces will be to deteriorate, and no longer provie support.

While underwear could last longer, most people keep them till their stained or tearing. Gross.

Replace them at least once a year, as the fibers begin to break down after repeated

washings. Plus.. if you want to look good, it starts with what's underneath, so it's

time to ditch the racing stripes and upgrade to a newer, cleaner model.

Sneakers

Sneaker-heads tell you to keep your shoes in the box, keeping their value. Yet, old

kicks just look cool.. Old footwear though, can lead to foot pain, causing strains on

your back and knees as the cushioning crumbles. For runners, or people frequently on the go,

you should think about replacing your toe-toppers every four to five hundred miles. After that,

the shock-absorbing layers deteriorate. In addition, after nine months, the adhesive

in most shoes begins to break down. If you're more of a walker, keep an eye on the firmness

of your sole. The softer it gets, the sooner you need shiny new sneakers for stepping out.

How to keep those sneakers fresh? Throw them in a box with a packet of silica, and store

them in a cool dry place. And you better toss those Air Jordans before they get a little..

over ripe

Some household items are easy to know when they've gone rotten, if it smells bad or

is a different color than when you bought it, chances are it needs pitched. Certain

items, though, no one thinks to replace; out of sight, out of mind. Consider yourself in

the know, and do your part to keep your place clean with current products. Have a horror

Plus, I want to stand the good side of my friends Mike Pence and Mitch McConnell.

They're so cool. And if I do everything really, really good,

they'll let me sit at the big boys table in the Congressional mess.

Complete Anatomy: Transforming Medical Learning at University of Buckingham - Duration: 3:47.

There's a rich history that surrounds anatomy.

The core history of our profession has

been hands-on cadaveric dissection works.

You're picking through structures,

You're removing fat, you're exposing relationships

and traditional textbooks can't do that these days.

I'm Dr. Erin Fillmore, I'm the head of anatomy at the University of Buckingham Medical School.

It is the first private medical school in all

the UK and so I think we have an extra

motivation to get our name out there as

an institution that's looking towards the future.

There is a reason why this university

has been ranked first for teaching quality

and that includes the use of technology.

Our medical students, the first week

that they're here, they each receive

their own individual iPads.

And all of our curriculum delivery

is pushed to those iPads

for the students, so from day one they're

encouraged to use electronic platforms.

And just having this extra screen with me,

as a 21st century med student,

helps me looks thing up faster,

whereas before, with textbooks, it would have taken much longer.

bring them onto the train but then Complete Anatomy

let's us all look at the same things

simultaneously wherever we want and that convenience sets it apart from anything else.

And the material, you can front-load it

and give them all at once, or you can do it it in chunks, so each week they get

additional screens, each week, they're given

additional quizzes. And what you're going

to see is going to bring up each slide, each

screen and on each one we can highlight

specific structures that I feel are important

So I think the drive for the University of Buckingham,

It's not just an institutional drive

It's a drive that we definitely have as

individual teacher at the medical school.

One I have as an anatomist is to deliver the best anatomical product that is to the students.

That comes together with the

university's vision of providing the

best education we can, because teaching is our focus.

i totally recommend Complete Anatomy to other institutions.

I think it's such a valuable

learning resource and it's the next step where

medical education will be headed.

It is the first the first application

that bridges the gap between cadaveric
