Trump complains at NATO countries for not paying defense share - Duration: 1:31.

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump is once again making the headlines,... this time with

his comments about NATO and the European Union.

His remarks shocked many European leaders as they prepare for at least four years of

Trump in the White House.

Kim Mok-yeon has more.

In an interview with the Times of London and Germany's Bild Newspaper, President-elect

Donald Trump spoke about the NATO defense alliance, which he referred to as "obsolete"

because it was designed many years ago and it wasn't tackling terror.

He pointed out that it's unfair for the United States because most NATO nations are not meeting

their voluntary defense spending commitments.

Trump complained that NATO members are not paying the recommended two percent of GDP

on defense, saying only five countries were meeting that target.

Prior to this, Trump's pick for secretary of state, Rex Tillerson, told the Senate last

week that the NATO treaty's collective defense commitment is inviolable and the U.S. is going

to stand behind that commitment.

Trump's defense secretary nominee James Mattis also sought to boost defense spending within

NATO, under the condition that its partner countries pay their fair share.

In response to the interview, many European leaders said they may have to stand alone

without the United States during Trump's presidency, raising the prospect of an unprecedented breach

in transatlantic relations.

Tension remains high as the United States and the European Union have worked tightly

together on issues of war, peace and trade, becoming each other's most important partner

for decades.

Hello! This is Felipe from Frosttide

I wanted to do this small video tutorial

based on the playthrough video I did of the song

Gates Of The Asylum

many people asked me quite often

about my keyboard gear and how I switch my sounds

and especially about the iPad

what is its function on the live shows we play

so I decided to explain a little bit how

I manage to go through the sounds

and which kind of parameters I use when playing these songs live

so, let's get started

ok so this is my keyboard. This is a Korg TR 76

I've been using this one for around 10 years now

and it has served me very well

I really like Korg Keyboards because they are really easy to use

you just turn on the machine and then start browsing through the sounds

is just very inspiring and you just start feeling like you

want to create music so that's very

important for a music instrument in my opinion so

when playing live I usually arrange

the sounds of the songs in a chronological order

in the way how these appear in the song

so when talking from the song

Gates Of The Asylum, we have this string pattern

and then it switches to this uprising arpeggio with a piano

and then goes back to the string sound again

and then the string sound or the whole section grows bigger

then when whole band enters

there comes this church organ

so this makes it very easy to play live

you don't have to think much anymore

just like go upwards and upwards and upwards

and in order to do this I use a switch pedal

which in this case is the "Roland DP-10"

I am using it as switch pedal and as a sustain pedal as well

sometimes I also use the "Korg DS-1H"

but nowadays I use the Roland's

because these are much more sturdy so they

stay much better in place when playing live, which is a very important thing

so I have mentioned how I have arranged the sounds

and also what do you use for switching through them when playing

so let's see how the whole thing works now

another thing I would like to discuss

is the use of master parameters for controlling your keyboard presets when playing live

as you may have noticed in

the previous section when I was changing between sounds

you may have heard small gaps of silence when the sounds were changing

from one to another

this is the case with this keyboard

when you play one sound

and then you move to the next one

the previous sound cuts completely

this becomes a little problematic when playing live

especially when you want a really

smooth transition from one sound to another

one example can be found in the song Gates Of The Asylum

at the end of the intro riff and in the beginning of the verse

I have this church organ

and then I move to the next sound

the transition is not smooth

so, I was thinking how I can make it sound like in the album

so, then

I didn't want to have a volume pedal

so I adjusted the release of the church organ sound

to this knob

so, when moving the knob

the release will last longer and it will give this "Fade Out" effect

it will sound like this

so many have asked why the iPad

and the reason is that I use the iPad both

in the studio and live

for example in the studio I use this application by Camel Audio called

"Alchemy" in the song Gates Of The Asylum

it has the sound for the verse

And also I use couple of applications live

both of them are made by Jordan Rudess

first is "Morphwiz" and is used also in Gates Of The Asylum

and the last one is

"Samplewiz" in which I sampled

a choir sound from my keyboard and I use it in the song

"Awakening"

and the reason I use this is because it

gives a little bit more dynamic to the

live shows and you get much more expression

from certain sounds

it is great

I think if a guitarist has the

"fret-less" guitar

or a bass player, the "fret-less" bass

I think we keyboardist have the "fret-less" keyboard

or our a little bit more accessible version of the

"Continuum" or the "Seaboard"

Here in the iPad so it's a pretty cool gadget to use live

so, that's why the iPad

Korea's independent counsel grilling culture minister, ex-presidential chief of staff - Duration: 3:26.

Our top story this lunchtime...

The current culture minister and a former presidential chief of staff are being questioned

as suspects about their alleged involvement in the blacklisting of cultural figures critical

of the government.

We connect live to our Hwang Hojun,ze... who's at the independent counsel office in southern

Seoul.

Hojun, the investigation is starting to pick up a real head of steam...

You're absolutely right, Mark.

I'm standing in the parking lot of the building where the independent counsel office is located

and although it's relatively calm at the moment, it was absolute chaos this morning.

Between 9.30 and 10am,... it was packed with reporters from numerous news outlets and protesters

hoping to catch a glimpse of Kim Ki-choon, the former presidential chief of staff and

Cho Yoon-sun, the current sitting culture minister,... as they entered the building

to be interrogated by the team.

Minister Cho was the first to arrive and left a single comment before disappearing into

the elevator.

Take a look.

"I will fully cooperate with the special prosecutors' investigation.

I hope the probe gets to the bottom of the truth."

Kim, who arrived less than half an hour after Cho, declined to make any remarks.

As you said, both are being grilled as we speak, both as a suspects, over allegations

of perjury and abuse of power as they are suspected of being involved in the creation

of a blacklist of about 1,000 cultural figures,... including artists and institutes critical

of the government.

The list was intended to block them from receiving state support and sponsorship.

Kim, who held his post at the presidential office from August 2013 to February 2015,

allegedly choreographed the creation of the blacklist starting in 2014.

Culture Minister Cho, who previously served as the presidential secretary for political

affairs from June 2014 to May 2015, was allegedly in charge of actually generating the list

and handing it over to the culture ministry.

Both have continued to deny the allegations.

Minister Cho initially claimed in a National Assembly hearing last month that she wasn't

even aware of the list but later admitted that she knew of its existence... and that

it was created to exclude specific artists from state subsidies.

That reversal leaves her facing a perjury charge as well.

There was some controversy before, over whether the independent counsel team has the jurisdiction

to investigate the "blacklist."

While emphasizing the blacklisting is a serious constitutional violation that oppresses one's

freedom of expression, the independent counsel team's spokesperson clarified this month that

the team has found leads that suggests systematic and wrongful interference regarding personnel

transfer, related to the blacklist.

And as article 15 of the special law stipulates, the independent counsel team says related

incidents discovered during the probe are also subject to investigation.

Mark, watchers are saying a face-to-face investigation is highly likely as both Kim Ki-choon and

Cho Yoon-sun were summoned on the same day.. and that requests for their arrest warrants

are inevitable,... but we'll have to wait and see until we get further details during

the team's afternoon briefing.

Five people have been killed and 15 others injured in a shooting spree at a popular nightclub

in the Mexican resort town of Cancun.

Officials say the gunman entered the Blue Parrot nightclub in the early hours of Monday

morning, local time, before exchanging fire with another person in the venue.

The local attorney general says it was not a terrorist attack,… but was probably the

result of a disagreement between the two shooters inside.

Right after the incident,… three people were detained nearby, but it's unclear whether

they were directly involved in the shooting.

The five victims include two Canadians, an Italian and a Colombian, with another person

Three figures at the center of the corruption scandal -- Choi Soon-sil, her niece Chang

Si-ho and former Second Vice Culture Minister Kim Chong -- have been called for a hearing

at the Seoul Central District Court this morning.

They are charged with abuse of power, forcing Samsung Group to donate over one-point-three

millions U.S. dollars to Korea Winter Sports Elite Center run by Chang Si-ho.

Chang is also accused of embezzling some of the money.

Choi's lawyer has denied all the charges against her, while Chang's lawyer has acknowledged

most of the charges.

Public interest in the trial is particularly high, as it is the first time that Choi and

Chang, aunt and niece, are sitting in the same court room.

Chang has said founding the sports center was Choi's idea.

She submitted a second tablet PC to the independent counsel team last week, which was allegedly

China's Xi Jinping to attend Davos forum in Switzerland - Duration: 2:13.

Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to make history by becoming the first Chinese head

of state to attend the World Economic Forum, which is scheduled to begin in a few hours

in Davos, Switzerland.

Our Kim Jung-soo has the details.

With just a couple of days to go before the inauguration of U.S. President-elect Donald

Trump, who has promised to implement protectionist policies on his first day in office, world

leaders from the around the globe are gathering in Davos, Switzerland for this year's World

Economic Forum, which runs from January 17th to 20th.

China's President Xi-Jinping will also attend the gathering, becoming the first Chinese

leader to do so.

Observers have interpreted Xi's attendance as a signal of China's intent to play a more

active role in global affairs.

In a press conference last week, WEF executive chairman Klaus Schwab said he expects the

leader to exemplify how China would take a "responsive and responsible leadership role"

in tackling global issues, which involves challenges in diplomacy and trade.

Schwab added that "Every simplified approach to deal with the complex global agenda is

condemned to fail," and said that the world cannot simply adopt "populist solutions,"

in a likely reference to the anti-globalization sentiment represented by Trump's rise and

Britain's vote to leave the European Union.

But in an interview with the AP on Sunday, Schwab also said that "it's important to listen"

to populist leaders and integrate their concerns, implying that he does not want to widen the

perceived gap existing between the world's decision-makers and the general populace.

The United States will be represented at Davos by Vice President Joe Biden and Secretary

of State John Kerry, just days before they leave office, as well as key figures from

Trump's transition team.

However, past regular attendees, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Canadian

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, will not be in attendance this year.

AFTER HE ALLEGEDLY GRABBED A FEMALE COLLEAGUE IN HER GENITAL

AREA, WHILE PROCLAIMING THAT HE NO LONGER HAS TO WORRY ABOUT

POLITICAL CORRECTNESS.

THIS STORY SOUNDS LIKE IT HAS TO BE FAKE, THERE'S NO WAY THAT

THIS POSSIBLY HAPPENED, BUT APPARENTLY SURVEILLANCE FOOTAGE

SHOWED BUT THE WOMAN HAD ALLEGED, AND AS A RESULT THE

COPS HAVE ARRESTED THIS MAN.

IT IS GREENWICH REPETITIVE TOWN THE MEETING BOARD MEMBER

CHRISTOPHER VON KEYSERLING, AND HE WAS CHARGED WITH 4TH∞

SEXUAL ASSAULT AND RELEASED ON BOND.

APPARENTLY IN DECEMBER OF LAST YEAR, HE ENGAGED IN A

POLITICAL ARGUMENT WITH A WOMAN AND ALLEGEDLY ñ

ALLEGEDLY DECLARED: "I LOVE THIS NEW WORLD.

I NO LONGER HAVE TO BE POLITICALLY CORRECT."

AS THE WOMAN TURNED TO WALK AWAY, HE REPORTEDLY REACHED FROM

BEHIND AND PLACED HIS HAND BETWEEN HER LEGS AND

PINCHED ON OR NEAR HER GENITAL AREA.

THERE IS SOME DISAGREEMENT AS TO WHETHER OR NOT ñ WHETHER OR NOT

HE INTENDED TO GRAB HER BUTT OR HER GENITALS, BUT

REGARDLESS, THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE CORRECTNESS,

THIS HAS TO DO WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT.

YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO GRAB PEOPLE, REGARDLESS OF WHO YOU

ELECTED INTO OFFICE, AND UNFORTUNATELY THIS IS SOMETHING

THAT REALLY DID OCCUR IN CONNECTICUT, I CAN'T BELIEVE IT.

THE ONE PERSON I WOULD NEVER SUSPECT OF HAVING ANY

INAPPROPRIATE SEXUAL PREDILECTIONS.

THERE WAS A PLAYFUL GESTURE, IN FRONT OF WITNESSES.

IT WAS TOO TRIVIAL TO BE CONSIDERED ANYTHING OF

SIGNIFICANCE.

TO CALL IT A SEXUAL ASSAULT IS NOT BASED IN REALITY."

SO FOR HIM AND HE IS LIKE, WELL HE DID IT IN FRONT OF OTHER

PEOPLE, IT'S NOT SEXUAL ASSAULT.

ACTUALLY TOUCH SOMEONE.

DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOUR INTENT IS, YOU CAN ACTUALLY GRAB

SOMEONE AND GO, I DIDN'T MEAN TO GET OFF ON IT, I JUST MEANT

TO HARASS YOU NORMALLY, BECAUSE I FOUND IT AMUSING.

WELL, THE COPS DIDN'T FIND IT AMUSING, AND I'M SURE ALL YOU

Korea's independent counsel grilling culture minister, ex-presidential chief of staff - Duration: 3:26.

Our top story this lunchtime...

The current culture minister and a former presidential chief of staff are being questioned

as suspects about their alleged involvement in the blacklisting of cultural figures critical

of the government.

We connect live to our Hwang Hojun,ze... who's at the independent counsel office in southern

Seoul.

Hojun, the investigation is starting to pick up a real head of steam...

You're absolutely right, Mark.

I'm standing in the parking lot of the building where the independent counsel office is located

and although it's relatively calm at the moment, it was absolute chaos this morning.

Between 9.30 and 10am,... it was packed with reporters from numerous news outlets and protesters

hoping to catch a glimpse of Kim Ki-choon, the former presidential chief of staff and

Cho Yoon-sun, the current sitting culture minister,... as they entered the building

to be interrogated by the team.

Minister Cho was the first to arrive and left a single comment before disappearing into

the elevator.

Take a look.

"I will fully cooperate with the special prosecutors' investigation.

I hope the probe gets to the bottom of the truth."

Kim, who arrived less than half an hour after Cho, declined to make any remarks.

As you said, both are being grilled as we speak, both as a suspects, over allegations

of perjury and abuse of power as they are suspected of being involved in the creation

of a blacklist of about 1,000 cultural figures,... including artists and institutes critical

of the government.

The list was intended to block them from receiving state support and sponsorship.

Kim, who held his post at the presidential office from August 2013 to February 2015,

allegedly choreographed the creation of the blacklist starting in 2014.

Culture Minister Cho, who previously served as the presidential secretary for political

affairs from June 2014 to May 2015, was allegedly in charge of actually generating the list

and handing it over to the culture ministry.

Both have continued to deny the allegations.

Minister Cho initially claimed in a National Assembly hearing last month that she wasn't

even aware of the list but later admitted that she knew of its existence... and that

it was created to exclude specific artists from state subsidies.

That reversal leaves her facing a perjury charge as well.

There was some controversy before, over whether the independent counsel team has the jurisdiction

to investigate the "blacklist."

While emphasizing the blacklisting is a serious constitutional violation that oppresses one's

freedom of expression, the independent counsel team's spokesperson clarified this month that

the team has found leads that suggests systematic and wrongful interference regarding personnel

transfer, related to the blacklist.

And as article 15 of the special law stipulates, the independent counsel team says related

incidents discovered during the probe are also subject to investigation.

Mark, watchers are saying a face-to-face investigation is highly likely as both Kim Ki-choon and

Cho Yoon-sun were summoned on the same day.. and that requests for their arrest warrants

are inevitable,... but we'll have to wait and see until we get further details during

the team's afternoon briefing.
