SO, THERE'S THIS SERIES THAT PBS PUTS OUT, CALLED SCHOOL INC.,

AND IT MOSTLY FOCUSES ON PRIVATIZING EDUCATION, AND

IT ALSO HAS A VERY ñ AND IT HAS A VERY POSITIVE TONE

TOWARDS PRIVATIZATION OF OUR SCHOOL SYSTEMS.

SO, AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE FUNDING FOR THIS SERIES ACTUALLY

FOUND SOME INTERESTING INFORMATION; APPARENTLY THE LATE

ANDREW COLSON, LONGTIME HEAD OF THE CATO INSTITUTE, WAS THE

DRIVING FORCE BEHIND SCHOOL INC.

AND IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE CATO INSTITUTE, YOU KNOW

THAT IT IS A VERY LIBERTARIANISM INSTITUTION THAT IS IN FAVOR OF

PRIVATIZING EVERYTHING.

ALSO, KEEP IN MIND THAT THE FORMER US ASSISTANT SECRETARY OF

EDUCATION, DIANE RAVITCH FOUND THAT THE FILM WAS FOUND ñ WAS

FUNDED BY A NUMBER OF ARCH CONSERVATIVE FOUNDATIONS WITH

TIES TO THE DARK MONEY ATM, DONORS TRUST, AND THE AYN RAND

INSTITUTE.

SO, THERE IS CONCERN THERE, BECAUSE WHILE PBS ARGUES THAT

THEY WANT TO REPRESENT ALL PEOPLE IN THE POLITICAL

SPECTRUM, DIFFERENT POLITICAL IDEAS, KEEP IN MIND THAT IF YOU

SEE A SERIES THAT ONLY REPRESENTS ONE SIDE OF THE

STORY, WHILE YOU CAN'T JUST ASSUME THAT EVERYONE IS GOING TO

GO OUT THERE IN SEARCH OF THE OTHER SIDE.

SO THEY COULD REALLY SWAY PEOPLE IN ONE DIRECTION OR ANOTHER, AND

SO THAT'S VERY PROBLEMATIC.

THE FORMER ASSISTANT SECRETARY OF EDUCATION SAID THAT THIS

PROGRAM IS "PAID PROPAGANDAÖ SEARCH FOR THE TRUTH, IT

DOES NOT PRESENT OPPOSING POINTS OF VIEW.

IT IS AN ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE DEMOLITION OF PUBLIC

EDUCATION AND FOR NONREGULATED FREE MARKET IN EDUCATION.

PBS MIGHT'VE AIRED A PROGRAM THAT DEBATES THESE ISSUES, BUT

SCHOOL INC DOES NOT."

IF THIS WAS AN ISOLATED INCIDENT FOR PBS IT WOULD STILL BE

PROBLEMATIC, BUT KEEP IN MIND THAT THREE YEARS AGO, BACK IN

2014,

DAVID SIROTA LOOKED INTO ANOTHER SERIES THAT PBS WAS AIRING,

CALLED PENSION PERIL, AND HE ACTUALLY FOUND THAT PENSION

PERIL WAS FUNDED TO THE TUNE OF $3.5 MILLION BY JOHN ARNOLD.

HE IS A FORMER EXECUTIVE AT ENRON WHO IS VERY AGAINST

PENSIONS, SO THIS SERIES WAS VERY MUCH IN FAVOR OF CUTTING

PENSIONS FOR PEOPLE LIKE TEACHERS, FIREFIGHTERS,

POLICE, THINGS LIKE THAT.

SO, BECAUSE OF DAVID SIROTA'S REPORTING, PBS DECIDED TO

RETURN THAT $3.5

MILLION TO JOHN ARNOLD, BUT THE DAMAGE HAD ALREADY BEEN

DONE, THEY HAD ALREADY AIRED THIS PENSION PERIL PEACE.

MY INSTINCT IS TO DEFEND PBS, BUT THAT IS AN OLD-SCHOOL

INSTINCT OF, YEAH, I MEAN ñ I DON'T MIND PBS ñ I DON'T LIKE

PEOPLE LOOKING AT WHERE THEY GET THEIR MONEY FROM, BECAUSE

CONSERVATIVES DOES TO CHARITIES, LIBERALS GIVE TO CHARITIES --

HE JUST GAVE $50,000 TO THE FREE AND OPEN, WHATEVER THE

JOURNALISM SOCIETY IS ñ I DID NOT INSPECT TO BE TALKING

ABOUT IT, SO EXPECT MY ñ FORGIVE MY GOOFINESS ON THAT.

WE KNOW HE DOESN'T CARE IF JOURNALISTS ARE FREE TO

PRACTICE THEIR TRADE, IN FACT WE KNOW THAT HE DOES NOT WANT TO.

BUT IF IT TURNS OUT, AS DIANE RAVITCH SAYS, THAT IF IT'S

INCREDIBLE HE ONE-SIDED AND AIRING ON PBS, WHICH INSTANTLY

GIVES SOMETHING THE SWEET SMELL OF CREDIBILITY, THEN THAT

IS A SIGNIFICANT PROBLEM.

I WOULDN'T JUST MERELY ñ IF IT WERE REASONABLY FAIR AND

BALANCED, IF THERE WERE ANOTHER SIDE TO IT, IF THERE WERE A LOOK

AT, YOU KNOW, AT THE CHARTER SCHOOLS THAT WORK, AND THE

MAJORITY OF THEM THAT DON'T REALLY WORK, OR ARE

SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER ANYWAY, YOU KNOW, AND WHAT WE CAN LEARN

FROM THE ONES THAT WORK, AND MAYBE THERE IS SOMETHING

THAT CAN HAPPEN HERE.

JUST PROVIDING A BALANCED VIEW.

MY GUESS IS IF THEY ñ

IS IF THEY PAID MILLIONS OF DOLLARS, THAT THEY GOT THE

PROGRAM THEY WANTED, AND THAT'S GOT NO BUSINESS ON PBS.

YOU CAN PUT THAT ON THE INTERNET, OR AERATE ON FOX.

I WAS GOING TO LOOK INTO IT, BUT I WAS GOING TO WATCH THE

BACHELOR, AND I CAN ONLY HANDLE SO MUCH SHIT AT ONCE.

IT IS A THREE-PART SERIES, THEY HAD ENOUGH TIME TO BALANCE THE

PERSPECTIVE, AND IF THEY DIDN'T DO THAT, PBS IS RESPONSIBLE.

I ACTUALLY DID LOOK INTO IT, AND IT IS 100% ONE-SIDED.

AND PART OF THE REASON I LOOKED INTO IT WAS NOT ONLY BECAUSE WE

ARE COVERING THIS STORY, BUT ALSO BECAUSE PRIVATIZING

EDUCATION, AND TAKING PUBLIC MONEY, AND FUNNELING IT TO

PRIVATE INSTITUTIONS IN THE FORM OF VULTURES IS A HIDEOUS THING

TO DO, BECAUSE IT DEFINES PUBLIC SCHOOLS, IT PUTS PUBLIC MONEY,

TAXPAYER MONEY INTO PRIVATE INSTITUTIONS THAT HAVE A LACK OF

OVERSIGHT, A LACK OF STANDARDS, YOU KNOW, IN SOME CASES

DON'T EVEN BELIEVE IN TEACHING SCIENCE, AND FOCUS ON

CREATIONIST THEORIES AND THINGS LIKE THAT.

AND ALSO, I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT EDUCATION REMAINS AN

OPPORTUNITY FOR THOSE WHO CAN'T AFFORD SCHOOL, AND SO IF WE

PRIVATIZE EDUCATION COMPLETELY, I THINK IT IS GOING TO BE A

COMPLETE DISASTER FOR THOSE WHO ARE DISENFRANCHISED; FOR THOSE

WHO, YOU KNOW, MIGHT COME FROM AN UNDERPRIVILEGED BACKGROUND.

SOME I CARE ABOUT THIS ISSUE A LOT, AND I LOOKED INTO IT AND

FOUND THAT IT WAS VERY PRO-PRIVATIZATION, AND OF COURSE

IT IS IF AN ORGANIZATION LIKE THE CATO INSTITUTE IS INVOLVED.

BY THE WAY, IN REGARDS TO DAVID SIROTA'S INVESTIGATION BACK IN

2013, THE WAY IT WENT DOWN WAS ALSO SHADY, BECAUSE PEOPLE FROM

PBS APPROACHED JOHN ARNOLD AND SAID, HEY WE ARE THINKING ABOUT

DOING THIS.

AND AT THE SAME TIME, I ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT IT'S HARD TO BE

IN THE MEDIA, AND IT IS HARD TO FIND THE FUNDING, AND HARD TO DO

THINGS AS ETHICALLY AS POSSIBLE SOMETIMES, WHEN YOU ARE ALSO

TRYING TO BALANCE THE BEST INTERESTS OF YOUR VIEWERS

WITH RAISING ENOUGH MONEY TO DO WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

BUT AT THE SAME TIME, YOU ARE DISCREDITING YOURSELF IF YOU GO

OUT THERE LOOKING FOR MONEY FROM PEOPLE WHO HAVE POLITICAL

AGENDAS, AND THEN PRODUCING PROPAGANDA PIECES THAT

APPEASE THESE INDIVIDUALS.

THE PROBLEM IS, WHAT WE LEARNED ON NOVEMBER 8,

PROPAGANDA IS INCREDIBLE HE EFFECTIVE.

WE THINK OF PROPAGANDA, WE THINK OF THE NAZIS IN THE 1940S, WE

THINK OF THE SOVIETS BEFORE THE FALL OF THE COLD WAR ñ FIRST OF

ALL, WE, IN THIS COUNTRY, HAVE HAD SOME OF THE BEST PROPAGANDA,

BECAUSE WE ARE GREATLY SMART AND CREATIVE, SO WE HAVE COME UP

WITH SOME OF THE BEST PROPAGANDA IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD.

SOME OF IT WAS USED FOR GOOD, IN TRYING TO WIN THE WAR, SORT OF,

BUT WE KNOW HOW TO MAKE PROPAGANDA FILMS, REALLY

EFFECTIVELY, AND WE ARE NOW STARTING TO SEE THE

INCREDIBLY EFFECTIVE USE OF PROPAGANDA, AND HOW I CAN

TRICK AND MISLEAD THE AMERICAN VOTER.

IT'S GENIUS TO GET SOMETHING ON PBS, BECAUSE THEN, FOR THE REST

OF TIME YOU GET TO SAY, WHY ARE YOU HITTING US UP ON SCHOOL INC?

IT WAS ON PBS.

RIGHT, AND I THINK THAT'S THE ISSUE, BECAUSE PBS HAS THE

BENEFIT OF BEING THIS NEUTRAL NETWORK, WHERE ñ YOU KNOW, YOU

SHOW PBS IN SCHOOLS, SO WE GET THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT IN THAT

WAY; WHEREAS, IF IT WAS ON NETFLIX, YOU KIND OF KNOW

WHEN YOU ARE LOOKING FOR STUFF ON NETFLIX AND A LOT OF IT

CAN BE KIND OF CRAP.

EXACTLY.

PBS TAUGHT ME ENGLISH.

I WOULD WATCH PBS AS A LITTLE KID TO CATCH SESAME STREET,

AND THAT'S HOW I LEARNED ENGLISH, SO IT BREAKS MY

HEART TO SEE ALL OF THIS, AND HOPEFULLY THEY STRAIGHTEN

IT ALL OUT, BECAUSE IT'S UNACCEPTABLE TO DO

PROPAGANDA PIECES, ESPECIALLY WHEN SO MANY LIVES ARE AT

STAKE, AND, YOU KNOW, EDUCATION IS AT STAKE AS WELL.

New LEGO Ninjago Movie set pictures - Garma Mecha Man! - Duration: 1:01.

Hello, just2good here,

and another LEGO Ninjago Movie set has been revealed.

It's the Garma Mecha Man!

This was one of my favorites when I saw it way back,

but I think my liking of it has deterorated a bit.

Still, I think it's a really interesting looking mecha,

like Goldar from Power Rangers or something.

I like it,

but it's not one of my Top 3 most wanted Ninjago Movie sets anymore.

This one is a store exclusive in the US from my understanding.

And, I would guess that the price is about $70 dollars.

I think the size and everyhting

is a good counterpart to the Kai Mech in size and scale,

but I'm not too much of a fan of the stubby arms of this mech.

You can also see the set has the Ultimate Weapon,

a laser pointer...

The only minifigure that interests me here is the girl civilian.

Apparently her name is Pat,

she's exclusive,

and it looks like she doesn't have any hair -

ooh kay.

Other than that,

what do you guys think about this set?

2015-2017 Mustang GT MBRP Pro-Series Muffler Delete Axle-Back Exhaust Sound Clip & Install - Duration: 4:55.

This

axle-back is going to be a good option for you if you're looking for the most budget-friendly

way to make the biggest change in your exhaust note with an axle-back.

This is currently the most affordable axle-back on the site and it's a muffler delete setup,

which means that this is going to give you the biggest change possible from an axle-back.

The install for this is easy.

It's a two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, but only because you do need to cut

in order to install an axle-back on an S550, and you're looking at about two hours' time.

This being a muffler delete system means exactly that.

You're going to be completely eliminating your mufflers.

So what you're going to get with this system is the pipes you see here with MBRP tips.

That means that after the resonator mid-pipe, there'll be no more exhaust filtration.

It's going to make for a very big change in every aspect of the exhaust sound.

It's going to be much louder and deeper-sounding than the stock exhaust.

There's a little bit of drone inside the cabin at cruising speeds.

But honestly, I'm not surprised by that at all.

The nature of a muffler delete lends itself to drone and it's not a terrible drone, but

it is noticeable.

With that being said, I'm going to call this one a five out of five on the loudness scale,

one being a quiet upgrade, and five being a very loud upgrade.

For an axle-back, you can't get much louder than this.

I will say, though, that you should keep in mind that you get this volume and this sound

with the stock resonator still in place.

If you ever change your mid-pipe down the road, or even your headers, this system is

going to get even louder and it has a potential to be very loud depending on what you do with

the rest of your exhaust system.

Just keep in mind the smaller diameter inlets that this axle-back has, being that it's made

for the stock exhaust.

The diameter of the axle-back is two and a half inches, so that it can bolt up to the

factory exhaust without any issues.

The tips are four-inch, polished stainless steel, and as far as materials for the rest

of the axle-back, this is mandrel-bent, aluminized steel tubing.

The fact that this is aluminized does help to keep the price so affordable.

But you do have the downside of aluminized steel not holding up as well over time against

harsher elements.

This would be something that you should consider if you are shopping for a daily driver that

sees all different types of road conditions.

But if you're shopping for a car that only comes out during nice weather, this shouldn't

completely scare you away from this product.

When it comes to price, you can expect to pay very close to the $300 mark, which makes

this currently the most affordable axle-back option for the S550.

If you're looking for something close to this sound-wise, but you want stainless steel materials,

SR Performance makes a muffler delete system for about $30 more that's stainless steel.

You're going to be looking at the typical cut-and-clamp design with the install for

this axle-back, since you need to cut all S550 axle-backs.

I'm going to call this a two out of three wrenches on the scale, but just because of

the cutting that's involved.

It's nothing difficult, but I just recommend some eye protection and a fresh blade to make

the cutting easier.

Overall, you're looking at about two hours to get this all done.

A lift would certainly make things easier for you here, but the job can be done on jack

stands as well, if you don't have access to one.

Cutting the factory axle-back isn't hard.

Just be sure to measure twice, and plan a mark where you'll be cutting, so you don't

make a mistake.

Once you have the factory axle-back cut, you can drop the factory mufflers with the hangers.

The new axle-back will come with new clamps for you.

So you don't have to worry about transferring anything over, other than the factory hangers.

Once you get the hangers over to the new axle-back, you're ready to install.

You just flip the axle-back into place and bolt up the hangers.

You can tighten the clamps on the axle-back.

But it'd probably be easiest to leave the clamps on the tips loose until you have it

all lined up, and then tighten them down.

That's going to be it for the MBRP Pro Series muffler delete axle-back exhaust.

How to Treat OCD Naturally (5 Ways) - Duration: 9:30.

this video will discuss five natural ways to help you overcome your OCD but

just now that obsessive compulsive disorder is more common than you think

did you know that two to three percent of the u.s. adult population struggles

with OCD that's one in 40 it's more common than you think and you're not

alone yet only 10% of those who have OCD seek treatment if you know how the

debilitating OCD is why would you see help I can't speak for you but for well over

a decade I didn't get help because I thought getting help us for the week if

you're strong you do it on your own plus I was ashamed of it there's a couple of

times people saw me performing rentals out in public and they called me weird

call me crazy call me strange and all I wanted to do is just hide from the world

and be alone the rest of my life I also thought that it was just something I was

stuck with it's genetics it's just who you are what's the point of getting help

because you can't do anything about it I started to feel real depressed and I

looked around myself people enjoying their lives and I thought that is

something I want to have and I'll do whatever it takes I'll get all the help

I need and I hope you're at that point too don't lose hope because you can

overcome your OCD if you're willing to get the help and you're willing to get

all the necessary information to make the necessary changes but let's first

discuss what obsessive compulsive disorder is there's two parts obsessions

compulsions obsessions are the unwanted thoughts feeling desires that cause a

lot of anxiety this high anxiety causes you to do compulsive behaviors the

rituals and routine to reduce the stress but it often doesn't leave the happiness

but obsession OCD is thrown around a lot what exactly is OCD how can we

distinguish it between what you have is OCD and just a normal thought or habit

the international OCD foundation distinguishes four criteria the first

one being that these obsessions that you have are unwanted and out of your

control number two you believe that these

obsessions are irrational but you perform them anyway number three these

compulsive behaviors that you perform to reduce your obsessions take an hour or

more out of your day and this is a distinguishing criteria to determine if

you have OCD how much time you're spending performing these rituals and

number four although having a tene is great and it could be very

beneficial for most people these routines that you do the rituals are not

causing happiness at the very most they're just reducing anxiety for a

limited period of time for the longest time it's believed that it's been low

serotonin a chemical imbalance that's causing this OCD and that's how you

treat it and that's why if you get help for OCD you might be put on a medication

like an antidepressant like prozac or zoloft but recently researchers at Yale

have done MRI stands on patients with OCD and those that did not have it and

they found that there are differences their findings were this our brain is

circuited for non OCD brain they get an unwanted thought fear desire like an OCD

person but they have a filter that filters out the irrational thoughts and

the rational ones but with someone with OCD their filter seems to be

malfunctioning so something that's unrealistic

impractical is now causing anxiety and when you have anxiety your brain tells

you do something and that's when you go back to your habits of whatever you've

done in the past to relieve your anxiety your rituals and your routines

now it's believed that if you start changing your thought patterns you can

change the circuitry and findings have shown that when you change your thoughts

you can change the structure of your brain and that's why we're discussing

these five ways now number one get help stop looking at your condition like a

weakness getting help does not make you weak motivational speaker Zig Ziglar

said the strong and the wise admit they have weaknesses and if you believe you

need help to overcome this that does not make you weak get the help you need so

that you can have the happy life you know you deserve number two believe that

you could overcome your OCD I want to point out if you go into a doctor's

office they ask you questions they might diagnose you with OCD but it's not

definitive it's not like testing your blood pressure you have high blood

pressure and they could indicate it through a test we're testing your blood

sugar and determining if you're diabetic so all I'm saying is that it could be

difficult to determine whether you have a chemical imbalance its genetics or

your thoughts why not choose to believe that this is something that you can

overcome by changing your thought patterns that's what I've done and it

gives you so much power and so much hope for changing and having

better tomorrow number three confront your fears gradually if you go to the

doctor and they give you medication that's fine do whatever you need to

reduce your symptoms and start living the life you want but just now that

studies show that about 90% of patients on medication when they use medication

alone and not cognitive behavior therapy not confronting their fears when they

come off it they revert to their old OCD habits so

medication might not be enough and that's where cognitive behavioral

therapy comes in where you're confronting your fears let's discuss my

OCD a little bit and how I was able to use exposure therapy to overcome it I

had a ritual of 10 I don't know where it came from but it was the way it was for

well over a decade I had to fix my eyebrows 10 times I'd wipe my arms 10

times I'd have to tap a doorknob 10 times I'd have to check my wallet to make

sure my credit cards were in my wallet ten times had to check my alarm 10 times

and make sure I wasn't late for school when reading notes I'd have to read a

page ten times and without question it was taking hours out of my day and was

ruining my life then I started to believe that you change your thought

patterns you start focusing on what you need to do to confront these irrational

fears you can get over it and you may find that if you have OCD you have

multiple irrational thoughts I was also superstitious too I believed

that I had to take all my tests with this green mechanical pencil I was a

straight-A student I have a Doctorate degree now and I've never come close to

failing anything but I believe that in order to make an A on any test I had to

use this pencil if I didn't have my pencil I would freak out I had so much

anxiety and I'd actually performed much worse strengthening this belief but one

example of exposure therapy was with a quiz I decided that I was going to take

one quiz without this pencil and see what happens yes I had a lot of anxiety

but then I aced the quiz and I did it for a test and another test and even for

my licensing exam I took it without this pencil and all of a sudden this belief

that I needed a pencil to do a little shattered same with your rituals once

you start facing them gradually you start to realize that they are

irrational and if you don't do them something bad is not going to happen to

you here's another tip start facing your fears and gradual time

increments one example being with washing your hands let's say you feel

compelled to wash your hands maybe set a timer on your phone for five minutes

you're just going to sit there although you want to wash your hands so badly

that you won't wash your hands for five minutes yes you'll have some anxiety and

you'll feel uneasy but you'll realize after five minutes is up that nothing

happened and as time goes on maybe make it ten minutes and thirty minutes an

hour then before you know it you might completely get over your compulsion to

wash your hands or whatever ritual you're doing so exposure therapy

gradually start exposing yourself now so that you can get over it someday

number four exercise it's been proven that exercise can raise your serotonin

levels and reduce your anxiety and I can leave a card to the video on seven ways

to raise your serotonin naturally now I've come to realize that it's your

attention on what you're doing that causes you not to think about your

obsessions here's an example here let's say I'm at the gym and I'm doing a bench

press I may have OCD and I might want to perform rituals but at this current

moment my focus is fully on lifting this weight and making sure it doesn't

collapse my chest moments where your focus to stay in the present take you

off the anxiety that you feel from performing your rituals the more time

you spend in the present the less anxiety you have and the less anxiety

you have the less stress you feel and you won't feel compelled to act on these

compulsions number five meditation I've mentioned this in several videos and I

believe it's been one of the key components to help me live a better life

I think one of the most beneficial moments is that it helps you stay

present in the now maybe spending fifteen or thirty minutes a day with your eyes

closed just focusing on your breathing not thinking about your compulsions or

your obsessions but just being present even if you have an itch on your nose

just let it be you'll start to realize that you just sit there and be that

these obsessions and these compulsions although they're causing anxiety if you

just let them be and don't act on them they start to lose the power they have

over you I believe meditation is a key component that helping you overcome your

OCD naturally we've discussed five natural ways to help you overcome your

OCD and if you have OCD don't worry about it it's more common than you think

don't feel weak for getting help also don't be ashamed of it and don't believe

that you're stuck with it you can overcome it I've been ashamed

for a long time with my OCD and I normally don't share it but I had a

friend asked me if I can make a video without question I'll make it for them

- In a vegetable garden, I don't recommend

a whole lot of chemicals in a vegetable garden.

It might interfere with the plants,

the vegetables you have in there.

If you can just go, and you have two hours,

go out and pull it out there.

- (Chris) That Nut Sedge is

gonna be tough.

- Yeah, it'll be tough, now.

Well then maybe you could get chemical,

something like that just gets right

on the plant or something.

Like some RoundUp or something.

Just touch that on that, it might help some.

But you don't wanna get it around your plant though.

- I think during the growing season,

I would smother it with some cardboard or something.

- That's my point yeah.

- And then when the plants are harvested,

then attack it with Image or Manage

or whatever you're gonna use.

- (Chris) That's right, that's right.

- That would be my take anyways.

- I think it's not best for gardening like this though.

- Not if you're gonna eat the plant.

I don't like sprayin' things.

But I like to smother 'em.

I mean, it's an indicator of a lot of moisture.

- And they might want to build that soil up

so the level of that garden's a little higher

But I'd definitely use large containers

'cause they're gonna dry out fast out there.

And check the watering daily.

And also, in the container you can move it around

a little bit and turn it around

to different locations there,

FROM THE ONES THAT WORK, AND MAYBE THERE IS SOMETHING

THAT CAN HAPPEN HERE.

JUST PROVIDING A BALANCED VIEW.

MY GUESS IS IF THEY ñ

IS IF THEY PAID MILLIONS OF DOLLARS, THAT THEY GOT THE

PROGRAM THEY WANTED, AND THAT'S GOT NO BUSINESS ON PBS.

YOU CAN PUT THAT ON THE INTERNET, OR AERATE ON FOX.

PRIVATE INSTITUTIONS IN THE FORM OF VULTURES IS A HIDEOUS THING

TO DO, BECAUSE IT DEFINES PUBLIC SCHOOLS, IT PUTS PUBLIC MONEY,

TAXPAYER MONEY INTO PRIVATE INSTITUTIONS THAT HAVE A LACK OF

OVERSIGHT, A LACK OF STANDARDS, YOU KNOW, IN SOME CASES

DON'T EVEN BELIEVE IN TEACHING SCIENCE, AND FOCUS ON

CREATIONIST THEORIES AND THINGS LIKE THAT.

AND ALSO, I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT EDUCATION REMAINS AN

OPPORTUNITY FOR THOSE WHO CAN'T AFFORD SCHOOL, AND SO IF WE

PRIVATIZE EDUCATION COMPLETELY, I THINK IT IS GOING TO BE A

COMPLETE DISASTER FOR THOSE WHO ARE DISENFRANCHISED; FOR THOSE

WHO, YOU KNOW, MIGHT COME FROM AN UNDERPRIVILEGED BACKGROUND.

SOME I CARE ABOUT THIS ISSUE A LOT, AND I LOOKED INTO IT AND

FOUND THAT IT WAS VERY PRO-PRIVATIZATION, AND OF COURSE

IT IS IF AN ORGANIZATION LIKE THE CATO INSTITUTE IS INVOLVED.

just now that obsessive compulsive disorder is more common than you think

did you know that two to three percent of the u.s. adult population struggles

with OCD that's one in 40 it's more common than you think and you're not

alone yet only 10% of those who have OCD seek treatment if you know how the

debilitating OCD is why would you see help I can't speak for you but for well over

a decade I didn't get help because I thought getting help us for the week if

you're strong you do it on your own plus I was ashamed of it there's a couple of

times people saw me performing rentals out in public and they called me weird

and be alone the rest of my life I also thought that it was just something I was

stuck with it's genetics it's just who you are what's the point of getting help

because you can't do anything about it I started to feel real depressed and I

looked around myself people enjoying their lives and I thought that is

something I want to have and I'll do whatever it takes I'll get all the help

I need and I hope you're at that point too don't lose hope because you can

overcome your OCD if you're willing to get the help and you're willing to get

all the necessary information to make the necessary changes but let's first

discuss what obsessive compulsive disorder is there's two parts obsessions

compulsions obsessions are the unwanted thoughts feeling desires that cause a

lot of anxiety this high anxiety causes you to do compulsive behaviors the

rituals and routine to reduce the stress but it often doesn't leave the happiness

but obsession OCD is thrown around a lot what exactly is OCD how can we

distinguish it between what you have is OCD and just a normal thought or habit

the international OCD foundation distinguishes four criteria the first

one being that these obsessions that you have are unwanted and out of your

control number two you believe that these

obsessions are irrational but you perform them anyway number three these

compulsive behaviors that you perform to reduce your obsessions take an hour or

more out of your day and this is a distinguishing criteria to determine if

you have OCD how much time you're spending performing these rituals and

number four although having a tene is great and it could be very

beneficial for most people these routines that you do the rituals are not

causing happiness at the very most they're just reducing anxiety for a

limited period of time for the longest time it's believed that it's been low

serotonin a chemical imbalance that's causing this OCD and that's how you

treat it and that's why if you get help for OCD you might be put on a medication

like an antidepressant like prozac or zoloft but recently researchers at Yale

have done MRI stands on patients with OCD and those that did not have it and

they found that there are differences their findings were this our brain is

circuited for non OCD brain they get an unwanted thought fear desire like an OCD

person but they have a filter that filters out the irrational thoughts and

the rational ones but with someone with OCD their filter seems to be

malfunctioning so something that's unrealistic

impractical is now causing anxiety and when you have anxiety your brain tells

you do something and that's when you go back to your habits of whatever you've

done in the past to relieve your anxiety your rituals and your routines

now it's believed that if you start changing your thought patterns you can

change the circuitry and findings have shown that when you change your thoughts

you can change the structure of your brain and that's why we're discussing

these five ways now number one get help stop looking at your condition like a

weakness getting help does not make you weak motivational speaker Zig Ziglar

said the strong and the wise admit they have weaknesses and if you believe you

need help to overcome this that does not make you weak get the help you need so

that you can have the happy life you know you deserve number two believe that

you could overcome your OCD I want to point out if you go into a doctor's

office they ask you questions they might diagnose you with OCD but it's not

definitive it's not like testing your blood pressure you have high blood

pressure and they could indicate it through a test we're testing your blood

sugar and determining if you're diabetic so all I'm saying is that it could be

difficult to determine whether you have a chemical imbalance its genetics or

your thoughts why not choose to believe that this is something that you can

overcome by changing your thought patterns that's what I've done and it

gives you so much power and so much hope for changing and having

better tomorrow number three confront your fears gradually if you go to the

doctor and they give you medication that's fine do whatever you need to

reduce your symptoms and start living the life you want but just now that

studies show that about 90% of patients on medication when they use medication

alone and not cognitive behavior therapy not confronting their fears when they

come off it they revert to their old OCD habits so

medication might not be enough and that's where cognitive behavioral

therapy comes in where you're confronting your fears let's discuss my

OCD a little bit and how I was able to use exposure therapy to overcome it I

had a ritual of 10 I don't know where it came from but it was the way it was for

well over a decade I had to fix my eyebrows 10 times I'd wipe my arms 10

times I'd have to tap a doorknob 10 times I'd have to check my wallet to make

sure my credit cards were in my wallet ten times had to check my alarm 10 times

and make sure I wasn't late for school when reading notes I'd have to read a

page ten times and without question it was taking hours out of my day and was

ruining my life then I started to believe that you change your thought

patterns you start focusing on what you need to do to confront these irrational

fears you can get over it and you may find that if you have OCD you have

multiple irrational thoughts I was also superstitious too I believed

that I had to take all my tests with this green mechanical pencil I was a

straight-A student I have a Doctorate degree now and I've never come close to

failing anything but I believe that in order to make an A on any test I had to

use this pencil if I didn't have my pencil I would freak out I had so much

anxiety and I'd actually performed much worse strengthening this belief but one

example of exposure therapy was with a quiz I decided that I was going to take

one quiz without this pencil and see what happens yes I had a lot of anxiety

but then I aced the quiz and I did it for a test and another test and even for

my licensing exam I took it without this pencil and all of a sudden this belief

that I needed a pencil to do a little shattered same with your rituals once

you start facing them gradually you start to realize that they are

irrational and if you don't do them something bad is not going to happen to

you here's another tip start facing your fears and gradual time

increments one example being with washing your hands let's say you feel

compelled to wash your hands maybe set a timer on your phone for five minutes

you're just going to sit there although you want to wash your hands so badly

that you won't wash your hands for five minutes yes you'll have some anxiety and

you'll feel uneasy but you'll realize after five minutes is up that nothing

happened and as time goes on maybe make it ten minutes and thirty minutes an

hour then before you know it you might completely get over your compulsion to

wash your hands or whatever ritual you're doing so exposure therapy

gradually start exposing yourself now so that you can get over it someday

number four exercise it's been proven that exercise can raise your serotonin

levels and reduce your anxiety and I can leave a card to the video on seven ways

to raise your serotonin naturally now I've come to realize that it's your

attention on what you're doing that causes you not to think about your

obsessions here's an example here let's say I'm at the gym and I'm doing a bench

press I may have OCD and I might want to perform rituals but at this current

moment my focus is fully on lifting this weight and making sure it doesn't

collapse my chest moments where your focus to stay in the present take you

off the anxiety that you feel from performing your rituals the more time

you spend in the present the less anxiety you have and the less anxiety

you have the less stress you feel and you won't feel compelled to act on these

compulsions number five meditation I've mentioned this in several videos and I

believe it's been one of the key components to help me live a better life

I think one of the most beneficial moments is that it helps you stay

present in the now maybe spending fifteen or thirty minutes a day with your eyes

closed just focusing on your breathing not thinking about your compulsions or

your obsessions but just being present even if you have an itch on your nose

just let it be you'll start to realize that you just sit there and be that

these obsessions and these compulsions although they're causing anxiety if you

just let them be and don't act on them they start to lose the power they have

over you I believe meditation is a key component that helping you overcome your

OCD naturally we've discussed five natural ways to help you overcome your

don't feel weak for getting help also don't be ashamed of it and don't believe

that you're stuck with it you can overcome it I've been ashamed
