HOW TO MAKE A NEW YEAR'S MEMORY JAR! | EASY DIY! - Duration: 3:10.

for this project you'll need a glass jar

that you can get at any thrift store

you'll need no carts or multi-purpose

labels scissors and a hole-punch you'll

need some clear tape some twine and

permanent marker as well as some colored

paper to start this project you'll

either need a note card or one of the

multi-purpose labels the labels tend to

leave a sticky residue on the glass so i

prefer the notecards cut your no card in

half or just make sure it's at least

skinnier than your clear piece of tape

then write 2017 on the note card with

your permanent marker then rip off a

piece of tape that will be long enough

to wrap around the entire glass jar make

sure you place the tape in the middle of

your notecard so there's a little bit of

tape on the top bottom and both sides

now attach it to your jar wherever you

want and then smooth down the tape to

make sure it's firmly secured all the

way around you can then set the jar

aside because we're going to work on the

paper that will hold our memories make

sure you have all different colors so

it's more festive you'll need to cut the

paper into strips you can make these as

small or big as you want i'm cutting

mine in approximately 2 by 3 inch

squares so that we have enough room to

write a long memory if I want then use a

hole-punch here you can see I've one

shaped in a heart and you're gonna punch

a hole in the corner of the paper you'll

probably want to cut out approximately

30 to 40 pieces of paper so you don't

have to refill them as often once you

have all of them punch with your hole

puncher you're going to take your twine

and run it through the hole you can

always refill these later

now you're going to attach this to your

jar the amount of twine that you'll need

really depends on you for me I cut an

extra long piece and wrapped around

multiple times because i really like the

look of all the twine sitting at the top

so I just kept wrapping it around about

five or six times once you get to the

end and you don't have anymore twine tie

it off and make a couple of knots but

don't do the not so tight that you can't

add more paper later on and that is

pretty much it so now you have your

memories are ready to go and all you

have to do now is write a memory so when

it's time

all you do is rip off one of your pieces

of paper and then write down your memory

i do encourage you to also include who

wrote the note and what the date was

then you just fold it up so you can see

what it says and drop it into your

memory jar then at the end of the year

you should have a ton of memories that

you'll be able to read on New Year's Eve

this is a really fun way to ring in the

New Year and look back on the previous

one

December Wrap Up | 2016 - Duration: 7:31.

Hello booktube I'm Vanessa and today I'm

going to be doing my December wrap up

the first book that I read in December

was The Graces by Laure Eve and when I picked

this book up I had no idea what it was about,

or what it was gonna be like.

I just saw it at the library, thought it had

a really pretty cover and I wanted to

take it home with me. So I did and I actually

ended up really enjoying it.

The story is about this girl who, the

town that she lives in and the school

she goes to has a group of siblings that

are very popular, very well-known, kind of

like town celebrities I guess you could

say and they're the Graces. And this girl

finds herself becoming friends with them

and kind of becoming welcomed into their

inner circle which never really happens

for other people. So it makes her feel

very special, but there are also rumors

around the town that the Graces are

witches. And the main character even as

she's getting to know them more and more

she still, you know, never really sure about

what's real and what's not with them and

I just thought it was a really really

cool story. I know on Goodreads it has a

lot of really low star reviews and I can

definitely understand why it would. I

definitely see a lot of very cliche and

kind of overdone elements to this story

but at the same time I really enjoyed it.

I really thought that the writing was

excellent, I thought that the characters

were very complex, even though I can see

at the same time how they could also be

very flat and one-dimensional, so I get

that criticism too. But I personally

thought that they had a lot of different

facets to them that it was like I never

knew if I wanted to like them, or if I

liked to hate them, or if I pity them or

if I thought they were terrible people.

I don't know, I just found myself very

intrigued by the characters and the story and everything.

Then I read The Shadow Cabinet by Maureen Johnson,

which is the third book in the Shades of London trilogy,

so I can't tell you much about

this book without giving spoilers but I

can say that I really love this series.

I really love where it's going and I

really love where this book left off and

I can't wait for the next one.

The series itself is about a girl that goes to

boarding school in London, has a

near-death experience, gains the ability

to see ghosts

and then finds herself kind of wrapped

up in this top-secret paranormal London

underworld type thing.

This series is one of my favorite things

that I read in all of 2016

so I would definitely definitely recommend it.

And then I read a book

called Fear the Drowning Deep, which I

also really really liked. This book is

about a girl who lives in a little

seaside village on the Isle of Man and I

think it's like the nineteen...early nineteen hundreds.

And this girl, even though she

lives where she lives, she HATES the sea,

she doesn't like it, she's afraid of it,

when she was a little girl she saw her

grandfather drown, and she really

believes that the day he drowned she saw

something in the water that took him.

And now years later she's a teenager and

stuff, really strange and mysterious

things are starting to happen again.

People are going missing, a dead body has

washed up on the shore, and this guy washed

out of the ocean and nobody knows where

he came from, he doesn't have any

memories. And she really thinks that

these things are probably connected and

she wants to get to the bottom of them.

So like I said I really liked this book,

although there were some parts that I

did think we were a little bit cliche

and sometimes it seems like the conflict

wasn't very conflict-y enough?

It sometimes seemed like things wrapped up a

little bit too easily and conveniently,

if you know what I mean. BUT I still

really liked it. I really liked the

whole atmosphere and the setting of this

island, and there was a lot of magical

like lore and mythology and stuff

wrapped up in it, and magic, and I just

thought it was really really good.

After that I read Krampus: The Yule Lord and I

mentioned this book already like a thousand

times, but it's about Krampus, who, in case

you haven't seen the other videos where

I explain him, he is a figure in

Bavarian and Austrian Christmas tradition, who kind

of is the foil to Santa Claus, where like

Saint Nick comes and leaves presents,

Krampus comes and punishes the

naughty children. And he's like this guy,

you can see he's like a very Pagan

figure as well, and I believe that he is

part of Norse mythology also. I know that

this book has a lot of Norse mythology

in it, which at first I thought the book

was just taking creative liberty with,

but then I think the Wikipedia page also

says that he's actually a figure in

Norse mythology as well. I think he's

descended from Loki and Hel and

everything. I'm not sure on that but

either way he's super interesting and

this book was really good.

It's about a guy who, you know, his life

is not going very well for him, there's a

lot of really kind of dark stuff going

on in his life. Through a really strange

turn of events he ends up meeting

Krampus, and kind of teaming up with

him in the sense that if Krampus helps

him do something that's very important

to him he will help Krampus defeat Santa

Claus. So the story itself is very

exciting and very engaging and very fun

to read, but there's also a lot of other

really interesting stuff about like the

religion with Paganism and Christianity,

and also like the Norse stuff that I

said. And I also at times found it to be

very, kind of environmentalist in a

way? I mean obviously Krampus is a Pagan

god basically, and Paganism is a very

nature based religion, and this book

really goes into how as society has

gotten so far away, not only from that

Pagan religious mindset but also from

the nature-based mindset, and as we get

farther away from nature it's really

really damaging to the spirits that are

within the earth and within ourselves

and everything like that, so I thought

that was really really interesting too,

and I just thought this book was so good.

Then after that I read the illustrated

edition of Harry Potter and the Chamber

of Secrets, which was so much fun. These

illustrated editions are just the best

thing to happen. I think my favorite

illustration in this book was this like

two page spread of Harry playing Quidditch.

I just think it's so beautiful, this artwork!

And after that I

finished my Harry Potter reread, I've

reread all seven Harry Potter books this

year. I just finished the Deathly Hallows

and I just can't, like my heart is so

full right now. I love Harry Potter so

much and it is so wonderful to know that

even as an adult, my love and

appreciation for this series isn't

diminishing it's growing with me and

it's evolving into something different

but something just as wonderful and just

as powerful as it was when I was a kid,

and I just, I'm so happy about Harry Potter you guys.

And the last thing that I read in December was

My True Love Gave To Me

I listened to this on audiobook during the

road trip that I took to see my family

for Christmas, and I actually haven't

finished it yet, I still have I think

like four stories left to go, but I'll

probably finish it soon and what I did

listen to of this so far was pretty good,

I really like it, they're just really cute

like contemporary holiday-themed stories

and I do really like how these stories

represent a lot of different holidays

and different people of different

backgrounds and everything like that. The

diversity in this book is pretty good.

The Lost Codex Presents: A (very delayed) festive Holiday Episode - Duration: 3:47.

Welcome back to another episode of the Holocore.

This week, as the days grow colder and the spirit of the Holidays passes over us, we

here in the Lost Codex Sanctum thought we'd take a moment to explore and celebrate the

wonders of this holiday season.

Todays Festive Episode: The Feast of Winter Veil.

For many cultures across Azeroth, the later seasons of the year revolve around the legend

of Winter Veil-a time when thick snows blanket the land.

With the Veil of Winter comes the heralding of renewal and as such, marks a time of celebra

tion.

The legend of Winter Veil centers around a supernatural figure known as Greatfather Winter,

a being of legend who was said to walk the lands in the later months of the year.

According to some legends, the figure was wrapped in a cloak of billowing snow, and

wherever he roamed, winter would follow in his wake and settle over the lands.

It was said that as he wandered and brought the land under his snowy veil, Greatfather

winter would provide a bounty for whoever welcomed his presence.

It was this part of the tale that would inspire the tradition of both gift-giving and feasting.

The coming of winter would bring communities together to feast and share what they had

in celebration of both Greatfather Winter and the promise of renewal that followed after

the snows and winter had dissipated.

The Dwarves of Khaz Modan favor the Feast of Winter Veil as a celebration to Great Father

winter himself.

To the Dwarves, Greatfather winter is a viewed as a personification of one of the Titans

or Titan Keepers of Azeroth , viewing the snowy lands of Dun morogh as a personal blessing

and gift from the veil of Greatfather Winter.

And although Great Father Winter has been depicted in several different mortal forms

over the years, som e Lore keepers believe that the Dwarven Legend is closer to the truth

in that the origins of this fabled figure may be connected to the Titan Keeper Hodir,

the Patron of the Frostgiants.

For other cultures, like the Tauren, the celebration of Winter Veil doesnt include homage to any

figure of legend or act of gift giving.

Instead, the more spiritual aspects of the lore guide the importance to this celebration

with promise of rebirth and renewal thats heralded with the arrival of Winter.

In more recent days, the commercializations of the Feast of Winter Veil has taken many

cultures by storm.

Thanks to the goblins of Smokeywood Pastures, the festivities of the Feast of Winter veil

are brought to the many villages and capital cities across Azeroth, with Greatfather Winter

himself visiting the city of Ironforge and Orgrimmar to distribute presents.

While this festival was once celebrated as a homage to the myth of Great Father Winter

and promise to new beginnings, many races across Azeroth have begun to recognize the

Feast as a time of celebration for all.

Across the land, families, friends and loved ones gather and celebrate Winter Veil through

singing and caroling, feasting and drinking, and of course by exchanging gifts beneath

ornament-decorated pine trees.

The Feast of Winter Veil is truly one of Azeroth's most cherished holidays and a perfect way

for its citizens to celebrate, gather and be merry during the cold, winter season.

HOW TO MAKE A NEW YEAR'S MEMORY JAR! | EASY DIY! - Duration: 3:10.

for this project you'll need a glass jar

that you can get at any thrift store

you'll need no carts or multi-purpose

labels scissors and a hole-punch you'll

need some clear tape some twine and

permanent marker as well as some colored

paper to start this project you'll

either need a note card or one of the

multi-purpose labels the labels tend to

leave a sticky residue on the glass so i

prefer the notecards cut your no card in

half or just make sure it's at least

skinnier than your clear piece of tape

then write 2017 on the note card with

your permanent marker then rip off a

piece of tape that will be long enough

to wrap around the entire glass jar make

sure you place the tape in the middle of

your notecard so there's a little bit of

tape on the top bottom and both sides

now attach it to your jar wherever you

want and then smooth down the tape to

make sure it's firmly secured all the

way around you can then set the jar

aside because we're going to work on the

paper that will hold our memories make

sure you have all different colors so

it's more festive you'll need to cut the

paper into strips you can make these as

small or big as you want i'm cutting

mine in approximately 2 by 3 inch

squares so that we have enough room to

write a long memory if I want then use a

hole-punch here you can see I've one

shaped in a heart and you're gonna punch

a hole in the corner of the paper you'll

probably want to cut out approximately

30 to 40 pieces of paper so you don't

have to refill them as often once you

have all of them punch with your hole

puncher you're going to take your twine

and run it through the hole you can

always refill these later

now you're going to attach this to your

jar the amount of twine that you'll need

really depends on you for me I cut an

extra long piece and wrapped around

multiple times because i really like the

look of all the twine sitting at the top

so I just kept wrapping it around about

five or six times once you get to the

end and you don't have anymore twine tie

it off and make a couple of knots but

don't do the not so tight that you can't

add more paper later on and that is

pretty much it so now you have your

memories are ready to go and all you

have to do now is write a memory so when

it's time

all you do is rip off one of your pieces

of paper and then write down your memory

i do encourage you to also include who

wrote the note and what the date was

then you just fold it up so you can see

what it says and drop it into your

memory jar then at the end of the year

you should have a ton of memories that

you'll be able to read on New Year's Eve

this is a really fun way to ring in the

New Year and look back on the previous

one

and this year I was determined to see how I could make them better

something that improves you constantly

like 'practice juggling every day'

something that relies on other people

like 'get a million worshippers'

is monkey dung

something that relies on just you

like 'practice and refine your doom lord speech

is not dung

something that's vague

like 'become a great flutist'

is monkey dung

something that's clear

like 'practice the Frozen theme on flute

until your neighbours cry and beg for mercy

is learn the Final Fantasy 10 music

on piano, as much as I can of it

and then, the kicker

actually perform it

so I'm usually pretty ok with playing piano

and I usually avoid it

so I'm gonna face that fear head on

writing at least a hundred and fifty songs or pieces of music

so I'm going to keep track of this

by putting a big cross on my So Purrfect calendar

for every day that I write a song or piece of music

then counting it up at the end of the year

making sure there's at least one hundred and fifty crosses

number four

making at least twenty YouTube collabs

ok, so I know this one somewhat

relies on other people

but I genuinely do believe

that if I organise it and push it

that I have the power within myself

to make this one happen

and I really wanna do more collabs

number five, this one's quite left of centre

I want to make a lookbook for each season

fashion-wise, the two main ones

of the year and do geek pop style stuff

and I'm not much of a model or fashionista

but I've had this idea for a while now

of kinda featuring the local, Australian,

geeky, craftsy shops

and what they do, so

I'm gonna give that one a crack

number six

is to learn new and interesting chords on guitar

and use them in songs

I'm gonna keep track of this one in a

very similar fashion to the songwriting one

a big cross every day

that I do focused chord practice on the guitar

on my other cat calendar

so that one has to be slathered in crosses by the end of the year

and number seven, this is my last resolution

is to make a live performance set on Maschine

so the Maschine is a relatively new instrument

to my artillery

but I really want to be able to take this

button-box-noise thing

out on the road with me and perform with it

and I'm committing to doing at least three songs

that I can take out and perform live

so, they're my resolutions

why am I telling you my resolutions?

because you are going to be the one keeping me accountable

I'm committing right here and now

to make a video at the end of the year

detailing exactly how I went with all these resolutions

so, I better keep them, cause otherwise
