AS A RESULT THEY DETERMINED THAT HE

ACTUALLY OWES 1.8 BILLION TO VARIOUS FINANCIAL ORGANIZATIONS

THROUGHOUT THE WORLD BECAUSE OF HIS BUSINESSES.

BUSINESS DEALINGS WHERE HE CAN CATCH A BREAK.

AMERICAN COMPANIES LIKE WELLS FARGO THAT ARE ALREADY UNDER

INVESTIGATION.

THEN THERE ARE OTHER INSTITUTIONS LIKE THE BANK

OF CHINA.

SO FAR TO BE FAIR, HE HAS NOT SHOWN ANY CONFLICT OF

INTEREST WITH CHINA.

The Censorship Of Satan In Puyo Puyo Tetris - Duration: 2:55.

Announced at the 2017 Nintendo Switch Presentation, Puyo Puyo Tetris will finally be coming to

Western shores.

Available in Japan since 2014 for various platforms, the title will now be making its

PS4 and Switch debut and will be available worldwide for the first time.

The English release is already being demoed at certain conventions, allowing fans to get

a glimpse at the localised version, and one fan has spotted a curious change that had

been made to one of the characters' names.

Whilst called Satan in the Japanese version, the English release has changed their name

to Dark Prince.

Those of you already familiar with the game will also know that the name Satan isn't something

that's up for debate.

The Japanese version actually uses the English word "Satan" for the character's name and

this is said many times throughout the dialogue - this means that it's not a case of difference

in interpretation during translation.

So what's the deal here?

Why was it changed?

Well, this name change was actually first made 25 years ago now.

Puyo Puyo is a very long running series of puzzle games, the first of which being released

in Japan for the MSX2 and Famicom in 1991.

The title would then be ported to virtually every system out there.

Unfortunately for those of us in the West though, the only one of these to be localised

would be the arcade release, which came the following year in 1992.

It was here where Satan was first renamed.

Due to the West's sensitivity towards religious or occult themes, these types of changes were

extremely common during this time period.

This edit then went on to be made to virtually all Western Puyo Puyo media, with the exception

of two, rather small, exceptions.

The mobile game Sonic Runners had a special cross over event at one point, and one of

the event's levels featured a story involving Satan who, yes, was actually named Satan.

The only other time the original name has been used was in Sega 3D Classics Collection,

but not in the game itself but in its manual.

This 3DS compilation title contains a full version of the second game in the series and,

in the manual, Satan is called both Dark Prince and Satan, and it even references the confusing

situation with the character's name in their bio.

It's possible that nowadays the difference is simply being kept for consistency reasons,

rather than any moral reasons, although again, back in the 90s this was extremely likely

to be why it was changed.

Puyo Puyo Tetris will be available in the West for Switch and PS4 sometime in the second

quarter of 2017.

Info confirmed so far is that the localised version will have English voices only and

that there's no crossplay between PS4 and Switch, however, you can play online with

all regions.

C++ templates and optimizing for size - Duration: 2:55.

C++ templates are really useful.

For example, when you design an algorithm, with templates,

you can make it work -

with all possible data containers and data types,

yet you only need to write the function once.

But there is a price to pay:

The program size.

Even if you tell the compiler to optimize a program for size,

you may still be looking at a pretty hefty binary,

which may be a problem

especially if you are developing for an embedded platform.

Luckily C++ also offers a solution to this problem.

Instead of templatizing the whole algorithm,

you might only template the parts -

that depend on your data and your parameters.

To do that, we use virtual functions.

We use a purely abstract baseclass.

The purpose of the baseclass is to define the interface -

that our function will be using.

This interface can then be implemented by derived classes.

The same template will generate a new inherited class -

for each and every datatype that might come acrosss.

As you can see from this chart,

the executable file size does still increase -

every time you add a new type,

but much, much less, than it did -

when the entire algorithm was a template.

Now I am not going to lie to you: This is a tradeoff.

While this trick does make the program smaller,

it also makes it somewhat slower.

But the speed difference seems to be a constant,

and does not depend on the number of types -

that the algorithm is specialized for.

The bottom line is this:

There is never a solution -

that is the best tool for every possible situation.

Part of being an experienced programmer is being well educated -

in a wide variety of techniques and knowing when to use them.

If you are a beginning programmer,

you are probably better off with a small toolbelt -

and learning to use those efficiently.

If you have too many tools as a beginner,

you may get overwhelmed by the number of choices.

But when you gain more experience,

your toolbelt will get larger and larger,

and you'll be making more and more refined programs.

Many people ask me how to keep motivated as a programmer.

How to keep improving?

How to become good?

And my answer is always this:

Always keep being interested to learn how things work.

Never be afraid to experiment.

Aim for just very slightly higher -

than what you are currently able to do,

and you will keep climbing.

There is no cap, other than your imagination.

Modders Are Attempting To Uncensor Steam's Criminal Girls - Duration: 2:31.

As Censored Gaming recently reported, the Steam release of Criminal Girls: Invite Only

is censored the very same as the 2015 PlayStation Vita version was.

This isn't a fact that the publisher NIS America has tried to hide though, in fact, it's listed

right at the top of the game's release FAQ.

The next point in the FAQ is also about the censorship however, it's something that's

instead more positive.

You see, NIS explains, whilst there will be no official patch to uncensor the game, that

they welcome fans who wish to create mods and that this will not at all be prohibited.

This prompted one user to create a thread over on the Steam forum, with the intention

of getting the community together to try and uncensor the game.

This thread has since been pinned by the publisher, further reinforcing their approval.

So far the users have managed to find a way to remove all of the smoke during the Motivation

mini game.

There's a download available in the thread and all of you have to do is copy the exe

file over Steam's and all should work just fine.

You can see the results of the mod here and, as shown, all smoke is now absent.

In the official English release, no matter how high the level, certain smoke will stay

on the screen to obscure the image.

Important to point out though is that this mod is still somewhat a work around.

Unlike the Japanese version, it removes all smoke right from the get go, whereas in Japan,

the smoke would decrease more and more the further you go.

The fans are still trying to uncensor the other parts of the game, for example, the

voice and sound effects completely removed from the minigame overseas.

Here's a quick comparison of what it's like playing with no sound compared to in Japan...

The restoration of this audio is proving to be more troublesome than deleting the smoke

and it may be some time before it's all figured out.

Joy is a form of protest. - Duration: 3:36.

Hi friends

New year, new location for every video.

Awhile ago I made a video with my friend Rowan about self care for activists.

And we were talking about how a lot of people when faced with really scary, negative, oppressive

stuff need to like, watch a funny tv show and take a bath or whatever.

And I said that I'm not like that.

I really need to run into the fire.

I need to be protesting or organizing or actively feeling like I am doing something to combat

the thing to feel okay.

And last year I spent all day every day running to the fire, so it's no surprise that perhaps

I have like, some burns to attend to?

[gasp] metaphors!

And so there's two things I've been feeling lately

The first thing is like kind of a hybrid exhaustion sadness that is really persistent.

And the second thing is guilt.

Because we're about to get a new president in the US, we've already sworn in a new

congress, and a lot of people's rights are being threatened right now.

But I'm not reading the news, I'm not even online much, and I'm not doing all

too much in the form of protest or activism lately.

It feels like there are constantly more fires to attend to and I'm just sitting here reading

skincare reviews, because of the first thing.

But the more shitty news that comes up and filters in, the more i think about how many

people, just by virtue of me being the things that I am, really super want me to suffer.

Like, enact legislation to ensure it, want me to suffer.

And if on top of working hard to keep civil rights intact, i was in any way joyful, they

would be so shook.

If I'm miserable, they won.

So I'm trying, as the small act of protest I have in me right now, not to let them.

I'm not going to say it's all adult coloring books and scented candles.

I feel like sometimes it does a disservice to both activists and activism to talk about

it self care like that's all it is is.

But right now it's more like seeking appropriate mental health treatment, and trying not to

self-isolate.

But i do think that joy is an important form of protest.

Like, a lot of people criticize pride parades for example for not being serious enough but

marginalized communities have so much to be sad about all the time cant they have a smidgen

of fun one time?

And that's a thing that's really difficult for me right now.

I'm not gonna be the world's most carefree carefree black girl right away, probably not

ever.

But I'm just trying to claw my way back to a little bit of joy.
