9 Common Phrases English Speakers Get Wrong - Duration: 8:29.
hi out there in YouTube land i'mDrew
Badger and in this video we're going to
cover nine phrases that are commonly
misused by both native speakers and
english learners
the first one is coming down the pike
and this is often misheard and misused
as coming down the pipe people will hear
this is not coming down the pipe because
maybe coming down the pike doesn't make
a lot of sense to many people but the
expression refers to a truck or
something coming down a Turnpike which
is a word for just a large road and
often this is a toll road but anyway
we're talking about something that is
describing a future thing or what's
coming very soon so to use this
correctly you're saying that something
is coming down the pike when you're
talking about the future next people
often say I could care less about an
expression when what they really mean is
I couldn't care less if you say I could
care less and this just means what what
people are trying to say anyway is that
they don't care about something at all
but this is just a common way of
expressing that basically you're saying
that you care about something so little
like this tiny amount if anything that
you could not care about it even less so
you care about it to such a low degree
or such a low level that you can't care
about it less or even more so it sounds
kind of like a weird thing but people
often use this in conversations even
native speakers they will say I could
care less which actually means you still
have really to care less about that
thing so the correct way of using this
is I couldn't care less about this so i
couldn't care less about what I wear
every day for work I couldn't care less
so for me maybe I work at home on my
computer I can sit in my underwear or I
could wear a business suit it doesn't
matter so I couldn't care less about
what I where I couldn't care less
next this is an interesting one to
circumvent the globe what people are
actually trying to say is to
circumnavigate the globe when you
circumvent something both of these have
the idea of circles so traveling around
something circumvent and circumnavigate
but to circumvent means to get around
something typically a problem that you
might have like I'm trying to circumvent
my boss at work maybe he's a
like stopping me from doing something I
want to do so i have to go to a higher
level than him at work but to
circumnavigate the globe means you're
actually traveling around something as
opposed to you're trying to like get
around the earth like it's an obstacle
so you want to circumnavigate the globe
where the Earth's as opposed to
circumvent it next this is a really
common thing that people mistake and
this is to pique your interest but we're
not talking about the peak like the peak
of a mountain or talking about peaking
like you're peeking through a keyhole in
a door we're talking about to peak and
to actually be interested
so when you're talking about this in
conversations there's really no
difference because all of these words
piqué piqué and piqué they have the
same pronunciation but when you're
writing these things you actually want
to use it correctly
often when people will be using these
mistakes in their conversations again it
doesn't matter because you can't hear
anything you can't hear the difference
but when you writing it
people read that and think wow this
person really doesn't know what they're
talking about
so when you're getting your interest
piqued by something it means you're
you're increasing your interest in
something maybe you see something really
interesting and you're looking at that
you're captivated by that thing it is
piquing your interest and use the
correct spelling with that when you
write pique pique next to jibe with to
jive with something to drive with just
means you find it agreeable so it's
something you agree with something you
have no problem with you jive with a
particular thing like maybe like a
presidential example maybe like you jive
with what Donald Trump says are you
don't jive at all with what Donald Trump
has to say or his belief but this is
often confused with jive with and when
people are speaking in a conversational
casual way they will often use these
things very quickly to jive with to jive
with to jive with I really jag with his
views next to nip something in the bud
but people often say this as to nip it
in the butt
so they're saying but like dutt like you
know your butt as opposed to a but which
is thinking about like the bud on a
plant if you think about a problem
that's happening you don't want the
problem to get big and become really
difficult to solve so you want to nip
it in the bud just like trying to
destroy a whole plant or a whole long
branch it's much easier to do it when it
is a small but so if you can think about
nipping something like taking a small
cut just like you're a gardener and
pulling the little buds off of a plant
before they become large it's the same
idea of destroying a problem or ending a
problem before it becomes too big to nip
something in the bud to give something
in the bud next for all intents and
purposes for all intents and purposes
now this is an interesting phrase
because really intent and purpose mean
the same thing but this is just a common
expression that describes well for all
the reasons we want to do something or
for all the reasons that something might
happen but what people will often say is
for all intensive purposes now this is a
different way obviously you're
pronouncing something a little bit
different but it changes the meaning of
it so instead of intent and purposes
you're talking about intensive purposes
which is like really strong purposes
which doesn't really make much sense
so if you're using this be sure to use
it correctly for all intense and
purposes for all intents and purposes
next this is another common one that's
misused by people self-deprecating vs
self-depreciating now to depreciate
something this is the opposite of
appreciate where were maybe thinking
about reducing the value of something so
it kind of makes sense in the situation
but we're talking about self-deprecating
which is actually the word when you
maybe you tell a joke about yourself or
say something bad about yourself like
wow my hair is looking really bad or
like my ears are too big so you're kind
of taking the opportunity to to maybe
humble yourself a little bit with
self-deprecating humor or to say
something that is self-deprecating to be
careful when you're writing these things
because often like the spell checker
you'll be using when you're maybe typing
something it will give you the correct
word because depreciate or depreciating
is a word both of those are actual words
so you need to make sure just like
another common example is talking about
more van or more than ye be made this
like made this mistake a lot when I was
younger when you're talking about i like
something more than
something else but people often type in
war then now you don't want to use then
in this because it doesn't make sense
for the situation but it is the correct
word so it often won't be checked with
spelling so be careful when you're
typing these things out that you go back
and review the spelling of them self
deprecating is what you should be using
next another common one hunger pains
this is often misspoken as hunger pains
like you've got pains in your stomach
and you feel hungry and you should eat
something
so it feels like this should be a
correct thing to say you feeling some
hunger pains of hunger pains but really
paying is the actual correct word and
this describes the same thing so this is
one of those situations where if you say
oh I've got some hunger pains nobody is
really going to correct you in a
situation but if you're writing this
you're trying to use it in a much more
professional way you should be using the
correct thing which is hunger pain
hunger pains
well that's it for this video I hope you
have enjoyed it if you have to click
that like button
let me know if there are other phrases
that you would like to learn i also
recommend you try practicing writing the
correct versions of these in the
comments below the only way you're going
to get used to using them correctly is

YOUR PROBLEM.
JOEL: SO QUIT TRYING TO FIGURE IT ALL OUT AND SAY,
"GOD, I'M GONNA TAKE THE LIMITS OFF OF YOU.
I KNOW ONE TOUCH OF YOUR FAVOR CAN GET ME
TO WHERE I'M SUPPOSED TO BE."
ANNOUNCER: EARLY BIRD PRICING ENDS MAY 31 SO REGISTER TODAY.
THE 2017 LOVE LIFE WOMEN'S CONFERENCE.
[MUSIC]
JOYCE: TONIGHT, WE WANT TO TALK ABOUT THE PROCESS
OF CHANGE.
HOW MANY OF YOU WANT TO HAVE A CHANGE IN SOME AREA
OF YOUR LIFE?
OKAY, WELL, I NEED TO BACK UP AND ASK ANOTHER QUESTION FIRST,
HOW MANY OF YOU WANT TO CHANGE YOURSELF?
YOU KNOW, USUALLY WE HAVE TO CHANGE
BEFORE OUR CIRCUMSTANCES CHANGE, DID YOU KNOW THAT?
DID YOU KNOW THAT?
USUALLY WE HAVE TO CHANGE AND MANY TIMES GOD'S USING
OUR CIRCUMSTANCES TO DRIVE US TO HIM TO FINALLY GET
OPEN ENOUGH TO LET HIM DO WHAT HE WANTS TO DO
IN OUR LIVES.
I THINK BEFORE WE WILL REALLY LET GOD TAKE OVER,
WE HAVE TO COME TO THE END OF OURSELVES AND THAT TAKES
A WHILE BECAUSE WE'RE PRETTY STRONG, AND SOME OF US
IT TAKES LONGER THAN OTHERS BECAUSE WE WANT TO DO IT.
WE'VE GOT GOOD IDEAS, EVEN FOR GOD.
AMEN?
"WELL NOW, GOD, YOU COULD DO THIS."
HAVE YOU EVER DONE THAT.
"WELL GOD, YOU COULD DO THIS."
LIKE HE REALLY NEEDS OUR ADVICE.
THAT'S PRETTY SILLY, RIGHT?
BUT THE WORD "CHANGE" MEANS TO TRANSFORM, TO CHANGE
THE NATURE, THE FUNCTION, OR THE CONDITION
OF, OR TO CONVERT.
NOW, YOU KNOW, NEW BELIEVERS ARE OFTEN CALLED NEW CONVERTS
BECAUSE IF ANY MAN BE IN CHRIST, HE IS CHANGED.
SOMETHING WONDERFULLY AMAZING HAPPENS TO HIM ON THE INSIDE.
HE DOESN'T LOOK ANY DIFFERENT.
IF HE WAS OVERWEIGHT, HE'S STILL OVER.
IF HE WAS BALD, HE'S STILL BALD.
HE DOESN'T LOOK ANY DIFFERENT AND MOST OF THE TIME DAY ONE
DOESN'T ACT THAT MUCH DIFFERENT.
HE MIGHT BE A LITTLE HAPPIER AND HAVE A LITTLE MORE PEACE
AND, BUT WE STILL SEE SOME OF THE SAME ISSUES.
WELL, IF WE'RE NEW CREATURES, HOW AND WHY DO WE STILL ACT
IN OLD WAYS?
IT'S SO SIMPLE WHEN WE SEE IT, IT'S JUST BECAUSE WHAT GOD
HAS DONE IN US, BY HIS GRACE AND MERCY, TOTALLY IS A GIFT
TO US THAT WE RECEIVE ONLY BY FAITH.
THERE'S NOTHING THAT GOD DOES FOR US AT THE NEW BIRTH THAT WE
CAN EVER EARN OR DESERVE.
NOW, I HAD AN IDEA WHEN I WAS STUDYING FOR THIS.
THIS IS A CONVERTER AND IF YOU EVER TRAVEL OUT OF THE COUNTRY,
YOU KNOW HOW IMPORTANT THESE ARE BECAUSE IF I DON'T HAVE
ONE OF THESE WHEN I GO OUT OF THE COUNTRY AND I
WOULD TAKE MY FLAT IRON AND PLUG IT TOO THE WALL,
IT WOULD FRY IT.
SO, WE'RE GONNA PRETEND LIKE THE POWER IN THE WALL IS GOD.
NOW, IF I WOULD JUST GO IN MY OWN CONDITION AND TRY
TO PLUG INTO GOD WITHOUT GOING THROUGH CHRIST,
GOD'S HOLINESS AND MY UNHOLINESS WOULD HAVE A COLLISION AND WE
LITERALLY COULD NOT SURVIVE IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD.
SO CHRIST BECOMES OUR CONVERTER AND HE'S PLUGGED INTO GOD
BECAUSE HE DID EVERYTHING JUST RIGHT, AND THEN WE COME
AND WE PLUG INTO HIM, AND THEN THROUGH HIM,
WE CAN COMMUNICATE WITH GOD BUT ONLY THROUGH HIM.
AMEN?
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: I'M NOT GOING OUT OF THE COUNTRY HERE
IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS WITHOUT MY BOX FULL
OF CONVERTERS AND I WANNA ENCOURAGE, YOU TO ALWAYS STAY
PLUGGED INTO YOUR CONVERTER, WHICH IS JESUS CHRIST BECAUSE
THROUGH HIM, YOU CAN GO TO GOD, KNOW THAT YOU'RE RIGHTEOUS
THROUGH HIM.
IN HIS NAME YOU CAN COME AND PRAY AND ASK FOR ANYTHING
BECAUSE THE GOOD NEWS IS IS WHATEVER WE'RE NOT,
JESUS IS IN OUR PLACE.
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: I EVEN I DON'T THINK THAT WE CAN EVEN PRAY
ONE PERFECT PRAYER.
WE PROBABLY CAN'T EVEN PRAY A PRAYER THAT GOD COULD RECEIVE
AND ANSWER IF WE DIDN'T GO IN THE NAME OF JESUS.
BUT WHEN WE GO IN THE NAME OF JESUS, WHATEVER I DIDN'T SAY
RIGHT, JESUS TAKES IT AND FIXES IT UP BEFORE IT'S PRESENTED
TO THE FATHER, AND THEN IT JUST SOUNDS
LIKE THIS PERFECT PRAYER THAT HE'S ALL HAPPY TO ANSWER.
STAY PLUGGED IN.
WORST THING IN THE WORLD YOU CAN DO IS GET UNPLUGGED.
SOMETIMES WHEN YOU START RUNNING OUT OF POWER, YOU NEED
TO JUST GO DO WHAT YOU CAN DO TO YOUR BATTERY,
PLUG IN FOR A WHILE.
IF ANY MAN BE IN CHRIST, HE'S A NEW CREATURE.
WHEN HE'S CONVERTED, HE BECOMES A NEW CREATURE ON THE INSIDE.
LET'S LOOK AT 1 JOHN CHAPTER 3, VERSE 9,
"NO ONE BORN OR BEGOTTEN OF GOD DELIBERATELY,
KNOWINGLY, AND HABITUALLY PRACTICES SIN."
NOW, IT DOESN'T SAY HE CAN'T SIN.
IT DOESN'T EVEN SAY THAT HE DOESN'T SIN, IT SAYS THAT HE
DOES NOT DELIBERATELY, KNOWINGLY, HABITUALLY
PRACTICE SIN.
IN OTHER WORDS, ANYONE WHO'S BORN OF GOD, IF YOU'RE
TRULY BORN AGAIN, THERE'S GONNA BE SOME KIND OF CHANGE.
AMEN?
AND THERE SHOULD BE CONTINUAL CHANGE AS WE GO ALONG.
THE PATH OF THE RIGHTEOUS GROWS BRIGHTER AND BRIGHTER EVERY DAY.
WE ARE CHANGED INTO HIS IMAGE FROM GLORY TO GLORY.
WE'RE IN A PROCESS OF BEING CHANGED AND GOD IS NOT UPSET
THAT WE HAVE NOT ARRIVED.
NONE OF US HAVE ARRIVED.
THE APOSTLE PAUL SAID, "I HAVE NOT ARRIVED,
BUT ONE THING I DO, I PRESS ON."
IN CHRIST, YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE MAD AT YOURSELF OR FEEL GUILTY
AND CONDEMNED BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT FULLY COMPLETELY
WHAT YOU OUGHT TO BE YET.
MATTER OF FACT, THE MORE GUILT AND CONDEMNATION YOU DRAG AROUND
WITH YOU, THE LESS LIKELY YOU ARE TO KEEP CHANGING.
FOCUSING ON WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU JUST REDOUBLES
THE STRENGTH OF THAT PROBLEM.
WHY DOES HE NOT DELIBERATELY, KNOWINGLY, AND HABITUALLY
PRACTICE SIN?
BECAUSE GOD'S NATURE ABIDES IN HIM.
EVERYBODY SAY, "GOD'S NATURE IS IN ME."
I WANT YOU TO JUST THINK ABOUT THIS A MINUTE.
SAY, "I'M GOD'S HOUSE."
NOW, JUST CLOSE YOUR LITTLE PEEPERS THERE
FOR A MINUTE AND SAY THIS AND THINK ABOUT IT.
"GOD LIVES IN ME."
WHOO.
THINK ABOUT IT.
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: NOW, THAT'S WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A CHRISTIAN.
IT DOESN'T MEAN, ARE YOU A CHRISTIAN?
"OH YEAH, I GO TO CHURCH."
I MEAN, THERE'S SO MUCH TO THIS THAN JUST A SUNDAY MORNING,
45-MINUTE TRIP TO CHURCH WHERE WE CAN'T HARDLY WAIT TO GET OUT.
THAT IS NOT FULL-ON CHRISTIANITY.
AMEN?
YOU ARE THE HOME OF GOD, AND EVERYWHERE YOU GO
AND EVERYWHERE I GO, WE ARE SUPPOSED
TO REPRESENT HIM.
THE BIBLE SAYS THAT WE ARE GOD'S PERSONAL REPRESENTATIVES
AND THAT HE IS MAKING HIS APPEAL TO THE WORLD THROUGH US.
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: SO, WE NEED MORE THAN A BUMPER STICKER.
WE NEED GOOD FRUIT AND ALL THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT
IS IN YOU AT THE NEW BIRTH.
IT'S ALL THERE.
WHEN YOU RECEIVE CHRIST, YOU ALSO RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT.
FATHER, SON, AND HOLY SPIRIT LIVES IN YOU.
GOD LIVES IN TWO PLACES, HIS THRONE IN HEAVEN,
BUT HE ALSO LIVES IN HIS HOUSE HERE ON EARTH,
WHICH IS US.
HE LIVES US INDIVIDUALLY AND COLLECTIVELY AS A BODY.
AND JUST THINK ABOUT THIS, "WHERE TWO OR THREE ARE GATHERED
IN MY NAME, THERE I AM IN THE MIDST OF YOU."
WE ARE NOT JUST A BUNCH OF PEOPLE
GATHERED HERE TONIGHT HEARING A GOOD SPEAKER.
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: WOW, GOD'S NATURE ABIDES IN US.
AND I LOVE THE AMPLIFIED BIBLE, IT'S KIND OF BLUNT LIKE I AM.
AND IT SAYS, "GOD'S NATURE ABIDES IN HIM, HIS PRINCIPLE
OF LIFE, THE DIVINE SPERM REMAINS PERMANENTLY WITHIN HIM
AND HE CANNOT PRACTICE SINNING."
DOESN'T SAY HE DOESN'T SIN, BUT HE CANNOT PRACTICE SINNING
BECAUSE HE IS BORN AND BEGOTTEN OF GOD.
NOW, WHY CAN YOU NOT JUST GO AHEAD AND BE
JUST A FULL-ON SINNER--NOW, I MEAN IF YOU'RE
TRULY BORN AGAIN?
I'M NOT JUST TALKING ABOUT YOU SAID A SINNER'S PRAYER
AND NOTHING CHANGED.
I'M TALKING ABOUT YOU THREW YOURSELF ON THE MERCY OF GOD,
YOU ADMITTED THAT YOU WERE A SINNER, YOU ASKED CHRIST
TO COME INTO YOUR LIFE, AND YOU REALLY ARE WORKING
WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT TOWARD POSITIVE CHANGE
IN YOUR LIFE.
YOU'VE NOT ARRIVED.
YOU STILL GOT LOT OF ISSUES.
YOU STILL GOT LOTS OF BAGGAGE, BUT IF YOU REALLY LOOK BACK,
ALTHOUGH YOU'RE NOT WHERE YOU NEED TO BE, THANK GOD YOU'RE NOT
WHERE YOU USED TO BE.
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: NOW, LET ME SAY SOMETHING TO YOU THAT'S
IMPORTANT, BE MORE EXCITED ABOUT HOW FAR YOU'VE COME
THAN YOU ARE DISCOURAGED ABOUT HOW FAR YOU HAVE TO GO.
I'MMA SAY THAT AGAIN.
BE MORE EXCITED ABOUT HOW FAR YOU'VE COME THAN YOU ARE
DISCOURAGED ABOUT HOW FAR YOU HAVE TO GO.
IF YOU LISTEN TO THE HOLY SPIRIT,
HE'LL REMIND YOU OF HOW FAR YOU'VE COME,
WHAT ALL HE'S DONE IN YOUR LIFE.
BUT IF YOU LISTEN TO THE DEVIL, ALL YOU'RE EVER GONNA HEAR IS
WHAT YOU'RE NOT, YOU'RE NOT, YOU'RE NOT, YOU'RE NOT,
YOU'RE NOT.
IT'S INTERESTING, THERE'S NOT ONE SCRIPTURE THAT TELLS ME
WHAT I'M NOT.
ALL I SEE IN THE BIBLE IS, "I AM, I AM, I AM, I AM, I AM.
I AM LOVED.
I AM THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD.
I AM FREE.
I AM REDEEMED.
I AM SANCTIFIED.
I AM JUSTIFIED.
I AM A CHILD OF GOD.
I AM LOVED."
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: SO, WHEN YOU HEAR EVERYTHING YOU'RE NOT, REMEMBER,
THAT'S THE DEVIL AND WHAT YOU COULD DO IS THANK HIM.
YOU SHOULD SAY, "THANK YOU FOR REMINDING ME WHAT A MESS
I AM AND HOW GOOD GOD IS TO PUT UP WITH ME."
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: TURN THE TABLES BACK ON HIM AND HE'LL BE SORRY
THAT HE EVER MESSED WITH YOU.
THIS SCRIPTURE IS SO GOOD.
THE DIVINE SPERM, OKAY, SO THAT MEANS, FOR ALL INTENT
AND PURPOSES, WE ARE PREGNANT WITH GODLINESS.
THE DIVINE SEED, THE SPERM OF GOD, HAS BEEN PLANTED
IN THE WOMB OF OUR SPIRITS AND JUST AS A BABY GROWS,
WE GROW SPIRITUALLY AND BECOME CHRIST-LIKE
IN ALL OF OUR BEHAVIOR.
JESUS SAID, "IF YOU'VE SEEN ME, YOU'VE SEEN THE FATHER.
AND WOULDN'T IT BE WONDERFUL IF WE COULD GET TO THE POINT
WHERE WE COULD SAY, "IF YOU'VE SEEN ME, YOU'VE SEEN JESUS"?
I'M NOT READY TO SAY THAT YET BUT I'M GROWING.
PAUL SAID, "FOLLOW ME AS I FOLLOW CHRIST."
I DON'T EVEN HAVE THE NERVE TO DO THAT.
JUST WATCH ME.
IF YOU DO WHATEVER I DO, YOU'RE GONNA BE IN GOOD SHAPE
BECAUSE I'M FOLLOWING CHRIST.
THEY MAKE SOME BOLD STATEMENTS THAT LITERALLY, IF WE SAID
THINGS LIKE THAT, PEOPLE WOULD THINK WE WERE HERETICS.
AMEN?
IT'S SO IMPORTANT FOR PEOPLE TO KNOW WHO THEY ARE IN CHRIST,
HOW MUCH THEY'RE LOVED, AND WHAT YOU HAVE IN YOU,
IN YOU.
IT HASN'T ALL SHOWN UP ON THE OUTSIDE YET,
BUT IT'S MAKING ITS WAY THERE.
JUST LIKE YOU PLANT SEED IN THE GROUND AND IF YOU WATER
IT, AND YOU KEEP THE WEEDS AWAY FROM IT, IT WILL GROW.
NOW, THE ONLY OTHER THING THAT CAN CAUSE IT NOT TO GROW
IS IF THE GROUND IS NO GOOD, BUT WHEN WE'RE PLANTED
IN THE GROUND OF GOD, THE GROUND IS ALWAYS GOOD.
AMEN?
AND HE'S PLANTED HIMSELF IN US INDIVIDUALLY AND COLLECTIVELY
AS A BODY AND WE'RE GROWING, GROWING, GROWING, GROWING,
GROWING, GROWING, GROWING.
NOW, USUALLY BEFORE GROWING COMES SOME KIND OF CHASTISEMENT.
I'LL GO TELL THEM.
[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]
JOYCE: USUALLY BEFORE GROWING COMES SOME KIND OF CHASTISEMENT
OR WE SEE IN THE WORD, YOU KNOW, THAT WE NEED TO CHANGE.
IT'S LIKE I TOLD YOU THIS MORNING, I SAID
TO MY FRIEND PENNY, "HAVE YOU EVER HAD A PROBLEM
WITH PRIDE?" SHE SAID, "NOT TILL YOU
STARTED TEACHING ON IT."
SO, GUESS WHAT, YOU MAY FIND OUT TONIGHT THAT YOU'VE GOT
SOME PROBLEMS YOU DIDN'T KNOW YOU HAD.
I HAD ALL KINDS OF PROBLEMS I DIDN'T KNOW I HAD.
I THOUGHT EVERYBODY ELSE HAD A PROBLEM.
I KEPT PRAYING FOR DAVE TO CHANGE AND GOD TOLD ME
DAVE WASN'T THE PROBLEM.
[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]
JOYCE: I DIDN'T GET IT.
I THOUGHT, WELL, IF HE'S NOT THE PROBLEM, WHO IS?
THERE'S ONLY ME AND HIM.
IT CAN'T BE--YOU KNOW, WE NEVER THINK THAT IT'S US.
AND I THINK REAL SPIRITUAL MATURITY
IS TO BE ABLE TO RECEIVE THE CONVICTION
OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND NOT LET IT CONDEMN YOU.
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: "OH BOY, ANOTHER THING WRONG WITH ME."
NO, WE NEED TO GET TO THE POINT WHERE WE SAY, "THANK YOU, GOD,
THAT YOU LOVE ME ENOUGH THAT YOU'RE NOT GONNA LEAVE ME
ALONE, IGNORANT AND BLIND TO MY MESS.
I WANT TO KNOW THE TRUTH SO THE TRUTH CAN MAKE ME FREE."
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: WE'RE ALL IN A PROCESS OF CHANGE.
GOD SUPPLIES US WITH EVERYTHING THAT WE NEED
FOR TOTAL TRANSFORMATION, WHICH IS ANOTHER WORD
FOR CHANGE.
HE RESTORES US.
HE BRINGS US BACK TO AN ORIGINAL STATE.
HE PUTS US BACK IN A POSITION THAT HE INTENDED US TO HAVE
BEFORE SATAN EVER GOT INVOLVED IN MAN'S BUSINESS.
GOD WANTS TO RESTORE MAN TO THE ORIGINAL PLAN THAT HE HAD
FOR HIM IN THE GARDEN, AND A LOT OF THAT PLAN
WAS FELLOWSHIPPING WITH HIM, SPENDING GOOD TIME WITH GOD,
HAVING AN AWARENESS THAT HE'S WITH YOU ALL THE TIME,
AND THAT HE CARES ABOUT EVERY SINGLE THING
THAT CONCERNS YOU.
I'M GONNA TELL YOU SOMETHING, SOMETIMES GOD JUST LIKES
TO SHOW OUT AND LET YOU KNOW THAT HE CARES ABOUT THINGS
THAT YOU WOULDN'T EVEN BEGIN TO THINK THAT HE
WOULD CARE ABOUT.
I HAD A REALLY CUTE AND UNIQUE THING HAPPEN
JUST LAST WEEK.
SOMETIMES I GET SOME UNIQUE THINGS SENT TO ME
AT THE OFFICE AND, YOU KNOW, PEOPLE ARE JUST SO SWEET
AND MANY TIMES EVEN THOUGH WHAT THEY WANT TO GIVE
DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE TO ME, IT'S WHAT THEY HAD TO GIVE
AND SO I'VE LEARNED TO RECEIVE GRACIOUSLY.
AND IF IT'S NOT SOMETHING FOR ME, THEN I'LL PASS IT ON
TO SOMEBODY ELSE.
SO, SOMEBODY SENT ME AN $85 GIFT CERTIFICATE
TO THE TRACTOR SUPPLY STORE.
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: NOW, IF YOU'RE WATCHING BY TV OR IF YOU HAPPEN
TO BE HERE, DON'T BE OFFENDED, THIS TURNS OUT REALLY GOOD.
BUT HONESTLY I DIDN'T HAVE A CLUE WHAT I WAS GONNA--
AND I LOOKED AND I THOUGHT, NOW, WHY WOULD SOMEBODY
SEND ME, ME, YOU KNOW...?
[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]
JOYCE: BUT I KNOW PEOPLE GIVE WHAT THEY HAVE TO GIVE, AND GOD
SEES THAT JUST AS PRECIOUS SEED AS ANYTHING ELSE.
WELL, I DON'T LIKE TO WASTE ANYTHING THAT ANYBODY GIVES
AND SO I HAD IT ON MY COUNTER, AND I'M KIND OF MOVING IT AROUND
FOR ABOUT A MONTH THINKING, WHAT AM I GONNA DO WITH THAT?
I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M GONNA DO WITH THAT?
ASKED MY DAUGHTER IF SHE WANTED IT, SHE SAID, "I DON'T GO
TO THE TRACTOR SUPPLY STORE."
SO I'D MOVE IT AROUND A LITTLE BIT MORE AND SO ONE DAY
LAST WEEK, I THINK IT WAS LAST MONDAY, I WAS WORKING OUT
WITH MY TRAINER, AND I DO THAT THREE DAYS A WEEK.
AND IN THE MIDST OF MY WORKOUT HE SAID, "WHEN I LEAVE HERE
TODAY, I GOTTA GO PICK UP A PART FROM THE TRACTOR SUPPLY STORE."
I SAID, "WOW!
OH, WAIT A MINUTE, WAIT A MINUTE, HAVE I GOT
A GIFT FOR YOU.
[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]
JOYCE: NOW, HERE'S THE THING THAT WAS FUNNY, HIS PART COST
$85.64.
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: AND I TELL YOU WHAT, NOW HE'S A BELIEVER, AND ME
AND HIM BOTH IT'S LIKE, CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT GOD CARED ENOUGH
ABOUT THAT WOMAN'S GIFT TO MAKE SURE IT GOT USED PROPERLY, ABOUT
THIS GUY WHO COULD HAVE PAID FOR HIS PART?
IT'S NOT ABOUT WHETHER HE CAN PAY FOR IT OR NOT.
IT'S JUST LIKE WE WERE JUST LIKE KIND OF AWE STRUCK LIKE
TWO LITTLE KIDS REALLY TICKLED THAT GOD CARED
ABOUT HIS TRACTOR PART.
COME ON, GIVE GOD A PRAISE.
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: INTIMACY WITH GOD IS SO WONDERFUL, ISN'T IT, TO KNOW
THAT HE'S YOUR BEST FRIEND?
ISN'T THAT COOL?
"I'LL NEVER LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU.
BRING IT TO ME, AND I'LL TAKE CARE OF IT."
HE DOESN'T WANT US TO BE UNDER SOMETHING ALL THE TIME.
HE WANTS US TO KNOW THAT WE'RE THE HEAD AND NOT THE TAIL, ABOVE
AND NOT BENEATH AND THAT WE HAVE AUTHORITY AND POWER.
YOU HAVE POWER SO STOP ACTING LIKE A WEAKLING.
STOP SAYING, "I CAN'T, I CAN'T, I CAN'T, I CAN'T,"
AND SAY, "THROUGH CHRIST, I CAN, I CAN, I CAN, I CAN."
HE DOESN'T WANT US TO BE UNDER PRESSURE, UNDER STRESS,
UNDER ATTACK.
I'M SURE YOU RUN INTO PEOPLE, HOW ARE YOU TODAY?
"WELL, I'M UNDER ATTACK."
[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]
JOYCE: HOW ARE YOU TODAY?
"I'M UNDER PRESSURE."
BUT YOU KNOW WHAT?
THE LORD SPOKE TO ME ONE TIME, "IF YOU'D STAY ON THE ATTACK,
YOU WOULDN'T BE UNDER ATTACK ALL THE TIME."
AND WE NEED TO LIVE WITH AN ATTITUDE OF KNOWING
WHO WE ARE IN CHRIST AND WHO WE BELONG TO,
NOT A BELLIGERENT ATTITUDE, BUT INSTEAD OF GOING...GET
THOSE SHOULDERS BACK, HOLD YOUR HEAD UP.
AMEN?
KNOW THAT YOU HAVE THE POWER OF GOD ON THE INSIDE OF YOU,
THE NATURE OF GOD IS ON THE INSIDE OF YOU
AND YOU'RE CHANGING EVERY DAY BEING MOLDED INTO HIS IMAGE
THROUGH THE POWER OF CHRIST.
AMEN?
NOW, WE ALL WANT TO BE CHANGED, BUT WE DON'T ALL WANT TO CHANGE.
THINK ABOUT IT.
IF I SAY TO EVERYBODY IN HERE, DO YOU WANT TO BE CHANGED?
"OH YES!" BUT SEE, WHAT WE WANT IS WE
DON'T WANT TO BE TRANSFORMED, WE WANT TO BE TRANSLATED.
WE WANT TO JUST BE HERE AND THEN ALL OF SUDDEN BE THERE.
"OH GOD, CHANGE ME AND..."
SUPERMAN IN THE PHONE BOX, WE'RE CHANGED.
WELL, IT DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY.
YOU'RE GONNA FIND OUT ABOUT TRANSFORMATION
AND THE LITTLE PROCESS THAT'S A LITTLE MESSY.
CHANGE IS A SIGN THAT WE'RE ALIVE.
IT'S A SIGN THAT WE'RE GROWING.
WE'RE BORN FOR CHANGE.
WE GET BORED WITH SAMENESS.
LISTEN, I'M CONTENT, BUT I AM NOT SATISFIED TO THE POINT
WHERE I NEVER WANT TO SEE ANY CHANGE.
CHANGE IS REFRESHING.
WE EVEN JUST CHANGE SOME OF THE WAY THAT WE'RE DOING
SOME OF THE MEDIA PRESENTATION IN THE MEETING.
SOME OF IT, WE JUST STUCK IN A DIFFERENT PLACE,
JUST TO SHAKE IT UP A LITTLE BIT.
HERE'S A STATEMENT THAT I WANT YOU TO GET A HOLD OF, CHANGE
CAN BE INITIALLY FRIGHTENING BUT EVENTUALLY REFRESHING.
COME ON NOW, CHANGE CAN BE INITIALLY FRIGHTENING
BUT EVENTUALLY REFRESHING.
HERE'S A GOOD EXAMPLE, I GOT TO THE POINT IN THE MINISTRY
WHERE I FELT LIKE I JUST COULDN'T WORK
AS HARD AS I WAS.
AND, IN PARTICULAR, I REALLY NEEDED TO GET RID
OF A LOT OF THE OFFICE WORK AND JUST REALLY GIVE MYSELF
TO THE SPIRITUAL PART OF THE WORK THAT GOD HAS CALLED
ME TO DO, WRITING, AND TEACHING, AND PREACHING, AND STUDYING,
AND PRAYING, AND THINGS LIKE THAT, AND NOT, YOU KNOW,
HIRING, AND MANAGING SEVERAL HUNDRED PEOPLE,
AND DOING ALL THE CORRECTING, AND ALL THE STUFF THAT GOES ON
WITH RUNNING AN OFFICE.
AND SO, OUR SON, DAN, WAS WORKING FOR US,
AND WE REALLY FELT LIKE THAT HE WOULD BE RIGHT
TO BE PUT IN THE POSITION OF CEO, BUT HE'S
KIND OF LIKE ME, WHEN HE TAKES OVER, HE TAKES OVER.
AND SO, HE STARTED WANTING TO MAKE CHANGES,
AND HE WAS MAKING CHANGES AND I WAS LIKE...DIDN'T WANT
TO CHANGE ANYTHING.
SO YOU SEE, A LOT OF TIMES WE WANT TO GET RID OF PRESSURE,
BUT WE DON'T WANT TO GIVE UP ANYTHING, OR WE WANT TO GIVE
SOMEBODY A JOB TO DO BUT NO AUTHORITY.
COME ON, DID YOU HEAR ME?
WE WANT TO GIVE THEM A WORKLOAD BUT NO AUTHORITY.
YOU CAN'T CREATE SOMETHING THAT I DON'T LIKE.
AND SO, IT TOOK A WHILE FOR ME TO GET FROM BEING UPSET
AND FRIGHTENED TO BEING REFRESHED.
NOW I LOVE IT.
I'VE WORKED THROUGH IT.
AND NOW, I DON'T HAVE TO BE THERE DAY IN AND DAY OUT.
I DON'T HAVE TO BE IN A 4-DAY MEETING ABOUT WHAT
KIND OF COMPUTER PROGRAM WE'RE GONNA GET NEXT.
THERE'S SO MANY THINGS NOW THAT I DON'T HAVE TO DO
THAT SOMEBODY ELSE IS MORE HIGHLY ANOINTED TO DO
THAN I AM BUT I'M TELLING YOU, IN THE BEGINNING, IT WAS SCARY
TO LET SOME OF IT GO.
JOYCE: YOU KNOW, MOST OF US PRAY FOR CHANGE BUT THEN WHEN IT
COMES, WE HAVE A TENDENCY TO FIGHT IT.
CHANGE CAN BE VERY DIFFICULT.
IT'S LIKE WE WANT SOMETHING NEW, BUT WE HAVE A HARD TIME
LETTING GO OF THE OLD.
AND SO, WE'RE OFFERING YOU SOME TEACHING TODAY CALLED,
"HOW TO SURVIVE CHANGE."
YOU KNOW, THAT'S A REALLY A LOT OF GREAT WORD
COMING YOUR WAY IF YOU WILL JUST CONTACT US AND SAY,
"YES, I WANT TO KNOW HOW TO LET GOD CHANGE ME, AND I WANT
TO KNOW HOW TO CHANGE MY WORD SO I CAN HAVE A BETTER LIFE."
GOD'S GOT SUCH AN AWESOME PLAN FOR EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US
AND YES, THAT INCLUDES YOU.
I SAID GOD HAS GOT AN AWESOME PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE.
AND, YOU KNOW, YOU MAY BE SITTING RIGHT NOW, MAYBE YOU
FEEL LIKE YOU'RE AT THE END OF YOUR ROPE, OR YOU JUST FEEL
LIKE IT'S BEEN SO LONG SINCE ANYTHING GOOD HAS HAPPENED
TO YOU, BUT I CAN TELL YOU THAT GOD DOES HAVE A GOOD PLAN
FOR YOUR LIFE.
AND ALTHOUGH YOU MAY BE GOING THROUGH DIFFICULTIES RIGHT NOW,
YOU WILL COME OUT OF THIS, THIS TOO WILL PASS,
AND THERE'S GOOD THINGS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF IT.
SO DON'T YOU GET DISCOURAGED AND GIVE UP.
GOD BLESS YOU AND HAVE A GREAT DAY.

Moral Relativism - Duration: 3:23.
You know, it dawned on me in recent years how many of the major movie franchises
I see today are actually just sort of rehashings of many of my childhood toys
and action figures and cartoons.
Why are we still rehashing those same images?
Is that like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is the absolute pinnacle of storytelling
that we can't come up with something any better?
Actually, I think it's something a little different than that.
In the past 30 or 40 years, we've been in an era that sociologists
will talk about as moral relativism.
In other words, we don't have absolutes anymore.
As a society, we don't believe in absolute right or wrong,
good or evil.
and, without those concepts, it actually gets very difficult to tell compelling narrative stories.
The basic premise of a story is that you have these main characters
that you get emotionally, personally, invested in
and they're pressing towards these important goals.
And along the way, they face some kind of conflicts
And so you have like these protagonists, who are agonizing towards the goal,
and antagonists, that are fighting against that goal.
But you can tell a story without right or wrong.
Press those characters, pressing towards goals,
but you can't really tell a compelling story.
You can't say what should be or what ought to be,
or what's supposed to be.
So, even as simple as like GI Joes or transformers were,
when I was little, I could see the blue lasers coming from the good guys
and the red lasers coming from the bad guys.
And I knew who was supposed to win.
Without the concept of good and evil, there is no "should."
There is no "ought."
There is no "supposed to."
So, what I'm suggesting is our art today is suffering
because we've lost the concept of good and evil.
And if we want better art, we have to recapture that
imagination of good and evil which comes from recapturing themes of the Bible.
And it's good and evil but it's not only that.
It's all of the greatest stories ever told have fascinating themes from Scripture.
Why do so many other stories have gallant knights that ride in and slay these ferocious dragons?
It's because in the end of history, ultimately, there will have been a mighty warrior
who slayed an incredible serpent.
Why do so many of those stories have kids flying away to never-never land and living young forever?
Because, deep down inside, collectively as a society,
we know that we will go to a place where we'll be forever young.
Those who are true believers.
The apostle Paul puts it like this in Galatians 4. He says,
You know he's saying?
He's saying, in history, once upon a time, God came and rescued us so that we
can go and live happily ever after.
What I'm suggesting to you is the greatest stories throughout history
are just leeching off the transcendence of the greatest story that was ever told,
the story of Jesus Christ.
All this week we're going to be making some of the connections
from those great stories to the greatest story.

Tesla to fix repair delays, China sales triple, Energy crisis in Australia | Tesla News - Duration: 1:11.
Tesla had finally responded to ever growing concerns and complaints over delays at Tesla
certified body shops.
The company had committed to adding 300 approved repair shops in the next couple of months
and getting rid of underperforming locations.
Elon Musk had made a bold statement when he had committed to solving the ongoing energy
crisis in Australia where high energy demands have overloaded many generators and led to
blackouts in some parts of the country.
Musk said that Tesla will install a 100-megawatt battery storage system in just 100 days.
According to Tesla's 2016 annual report, the company had tripled its sales in China
for the year reaching just above one billion dollars.
The company has struggled in China having to deal with multiple issues over the last
3 years.
Tesla stock had closed at $243.69 on Friday down about three percent for the week.

I started riding motorcycles when I was 19.
I felt like I discovered something wonderful.
I'm usually working in the shop during the day, but at night I like to go out with friends.
We ride to places like Gate Bridge and Yokohama, going through tunnels.
That is really fun.
Of course I like the style of the old bikes and I like to imagine the time back then,
but the bikes' speed is also important because it's a playful speed that I can enjoy.
So for me it's both, style and speed.

[ENG SUB/VOSTFR] HIGHLIGHT - It's Still Beautiful MV - Duration: 3:50.
As if knowing that I don't have you by my side anymore,
This path seems to hug me
I was afraid that it would become awkward,
But now I'm alright
So don't worry about me
The farewell you left me was painful
But it's as precious as love
I am able to smile because you were also the pain
The image of you leaving is also memories for me
These inevitable pains will someday heal
Even though you left from all the places, you were here before
Because you were also the empty spaces
It's still beautiful
Even though I smile brigthly, they say I look a bit sad
I guess it can't be helped
Even though I try to hide it well
It seems to leak out eventually
Because you weren't just a small part of me
The farewell you left me was painful
But it's as precious as love
I am able to smile because you were also the pain
The image of you leaving is also memories for me
These inevitable pains will someday heal
Even though you left from all the places, you were here before
Because you were also the empty spaces
It's still beautiful
I have no right to be in pain
When I look back,
I've never did anything good such as saying words like
You are precious, that I loved you
From the beginning
Your heart was too beautiful for me to have
All the time spent with you was beautiful
You came to me in my dreams
Even though I knew it was a dream,
Hot tears flowed down my cheeks
You're beautiful
You came to me in my dreams
Even though I knew it was a dream,
Hot tears flowed down my cheeks
You're beautiful

Hydro Handbrake Install How to DIY | Part 1 | Custom Mounting Bracket for BMW E30 - Duration: 4:53.
Today we're going to be installing a
hydraulic handbrake on my e30, and we're
going to show you guys how to do it!
I have made multiple brackets for this and
This is the first bracket we made. These
are just two pieces of metal that we had;
we just welded them together as close to
a 90 degree as possible. Now this didn't
fit my car. The hydro was actually
pressing up against one of my seats so we
decided to make another one. This one we
decided to make it sit a little bit
higher
This made clearance but then once we put
it in the car you could actually bend the
metal by just wang-jangling the hydo
so we're going to make a third one and
this one, hopefully, is going to be good.
To do this we're going to be cutting out
the pieces for the bracket and then
we're going to be welding it with my MIG
welder we already have the pieces marked
out with a sharpie and so we're going to
be cutting out this piece and using this
as the top of the bracket, and then this
bottom square is going to be the
part that mounts to the transmission
tunnel, and then these two triangles
right here are going to be little gussets
on either side
hopefully that will prevent it from
bending at all, and keep the hydro
nice and sturdy.
Trickshot! So we have all our pieces cut
out now and we're just going to clean
them up with the grinder and then we
will tack them down and weld 'em.
We're going to be drilling holes in these plates so we
have the mounting holes marked out
for how I want the hydro. This will be
the top plate, and then these guys
are where the bolts will be coming
through the transmission tunnel onto
this. So we are just bolting this in to my
car but you can also just weld it to the
side of transmission tunnel. It's up to you.
Okay so we got our pieces of metal
all cut out and have holes in them for things,
and so now we're going to just weld 'em, 'n stuff.
We've got the bracket all welded up and
now we're going to paint it.
We've got the hydro mounted now and we
have it bolted through the transmission
tunnel, and then it comes through here...
and it's [the bracket] brought up from the original mount.
[With] the original mount, the hydro set about
two-and-a-half inches lower than it is
now, and I mounted it on the opposite
side on - the passenger side - rather than
like, on the driver's side because that
way I can keep my center console because
this car is still my daily driver and so
I kind of wanted it, you know, out of the way.

These
are just two pieces of metal that we had;
we just welded them together as close to
a 90 degree as possible. Now this didn't
fit my car. The hydro was actually
pressing up against one of my seats so we
decided to make another one. This one we
decided to make it sit a little bit
higher
This made clearance but then once we put
it in the car you could actually bend the
metal by just wang-jangling the hydo
so we're going to make a third one and
this one, hopefully, is going to be good.
To do this we're going to be cutting out
the pieces for the bracket and then
we're going to be welding it with my MIG
welder we already have the pieces marked
out with a sharpie and so we're going to
be cutting out this piece and using this
as the top of the bracket, and then this
bottom square is going to be the
part that mounts to the transmission
tunnel, and then these two triangles
right here are going to be little gussets
on either side
hopefully that will prevent it from
bending at all, and keep the hydro
nice and sturdy.
Trickshot! So we have all our pieces cut
out now and we're just going to clean
them up with the grinder and then we
will tack them down and weld 'em.
We're going to be drilling holes in these plates so we
have the mounting holes marked out
for how I want the hydro. This will be
the top plate, and then these guys
are where the bolts will be coming
through the transmission tunnel onto
this. So we are just bolting this in to my
car but you can also just weld it to the
side of transmission tunnel. It's up to you.
Okay so we got our pieces of metal
all cut out and have holes in them for things,
and so now we're going to just weld 'em, 'n stuff.
We've got the bracket all welded up and
now we're going to paint it.
We've got the hydro mounted now and we
have it bolted through the transmission
tunnel, and then it comes through here...
and it's [the bracket] brought up from the original mount.
[With] the original mount, the hydro set about
two-and-a-half inches lower than it is
now, and I mounted it on the opposite
side on - the passenger side - rather than
like, on the driver's side because that
way I can keep my center console because
this car is still my daily driver and so
I kind of wanted it, you know, out of the way.
It's good. So in our next video we're
going to be showing you guys how we
plumbed all of our lines, and uh, yeah so

Creating a Proc file on Heroku for your Chatbot - How to Make a Bot Full Course - Duration: 0:54.
Next we're going to create a procfile. Now a procfile is a file for Hiroku it
helps communicate api's and that sort of thing with heroku. So, in order to create a
profile, were is going to come and create a new file. We're going to call
'Procfile"
boom there it is! Then we're going to copy and paste this code into. It's
very very simple,
you can also just write it out. Its 'web node index.js'
That's it! And then we want to do is come here and just to save so and that's it
that's your profile.
Congratulations you've done great!
Next we're going to show you a little bit about 'git commit' and some other
functionality,
Stay tuned!

Resources for Chatbots: Getting Users and Connecting with Bot Makers - Duration: 2:43.
Welcome to Resources!
This is a very, very, important lesson, a very important part of the course
because this is where you can get a lot of the files and a lot of the code that
you will be needing throughout this course.
So, in order to get this stuff, the best place to come is to the Chatbots
Facebook group and it's facebook.com/groups/AiChatBots. So,
once you come here
join the group and then all you have to do is you have to come to files and in
files we have everything made.
Let me explain what each of these things is: first here is the index.js file
this is for the parrot bot. So you can simply click on this and this is your
entire code that we use through the course and this is the basically the
parrot bot right here. And I don't want to go into the cold right now, cause
future lessons are going to be doing that, but this is where you can come and
get the code and you can just copy and paste it right into a notepad or
Visual Studios. The next file is the Procfile.
This is the Procfile. it's literally one line of code, very simple!
You can either copy and paste or you can write it yourself.
And then last but not least is this file, this is the workbook and a couple of
other resources. So here's a SlideShare, so which is right over here and a
tutorial on medium that I wrote. And I write these for this course.
So it's a great way to keep up with the videos and it also gives you all the
code that you need to complete this course and it gives you all the links
everything is in one place makes it very very simple so let me show you both of
those things.
This is the article on medium, on 'How to make a Facebook Message Chatbot' and we go
step by step, has links, has code snippets and it works beautifully in conjunction
with the videos. So here's your npm install, you can copy-paste, very simple
and here is the SlideShare
and you get the idea. So this is the place to come and do it is simply just
come to www.facebook.com/groups/aichatbots
and join and then you can come into the files.
Another place that you'll be able to get this is through our facebook
Aha Moment Labs page. You can just come on here and either go to the website and
look there for the resources or you can just send us a message.
We do have a bot on here, very simple you can just send a message and the bot
will respond and then we'll have links to some of these resources as well.
Please use the resources, makes life very simple. Thank you and see you in the next
class!
-------------------------------------------
How to Deploy your Chatbot Code to Heroku Server - How to Build a Bot Course - Duration: 2:26.
Welcome back, welcome back!
So, this is the fun part, now we're finally going to take all this code that
we have
we're going to take all of this, we're going to send it to heroku. So in order
for us to do that, we are going to open up our terminal and we're going to
follow these
directions. So we're going to first type this in: 'git status'
So note one thing first before you type in 'git status'
make sure that you've saved everything. So once you've saved everything,
then you can type 'git status'. So when you do that this is what
you come back. You're going to come back you're gonna get a bunch of files like
this that have been modified or deleted or things that weren't tract and it's
going to say what do you want to do? These are the files that have not been
sent to heroku. And so what you can do is, you can type: 'git add .' and it goes
something like this
'git add space period' enter and it's going to set it and it just added them. So next, what we
want to do is to commit it, in another words send it up. So we will do:
'git commit' and then we're going to do
'- - message' and we're going to write something like 'first first version'. Then
what we're going to do is, going to do: 'git push heroku master'
What this is doing is it's pushing it to the server, so let's do that here.
It's building the sources, it's going to compile it,
it's going to build the app and boom
now we have something called build successful that succeeded now it's
compressing it
launching it and finally deploying it and now we are done!!!
Congratulations the app is now up! Its up so next we're going to cover how to
do webhooks and how to connect to Facebook. So congradulate yourself
you've done a great job basically you have the app working it's in the cloud
and we'll see you on the next class.
-------------------------------------------
How to Set Up Chatbot Server - Full Chatbot Course - Duration: 7:44.
Oh next we're going to be creating the server. So setting up the server is very
simple but it has to be done right.
It's very very pivotal so what we need to do is install node.js. If you don't
already have it,
head over to nodejs.org install it and make sure it's running. Now, once it's
running, its actually going to be running and accessible through your terminal. So, it's
not something that you're going to have to open up and run. So once you've
done that, the next thing we're going to do is going to be installing the heroku
tool belt.
So in order to do that just head over to toolbelt.heroku.com and download and
install this as well.
Once you've done that we're going to be following these instructions.
It's very simple, you're going to come into your terminal
you're going to log in to heroku by following this command: it's
'$heroku login' and let me show you what that looks like in here going to press
Enter
It's going to ask you for your login your password once you've done that you
want to CD into your into your app. So you probably don't have an app folder
created, so we're going to create one right now, so let me show you what that
looks like. So before we can do that we need to go over some of the command
lines that you can be using right here inside of terminal. When you see this
character right here '~'
that means that you're in your home directory, so anytime you're curious
where is home
this will signify it. So once you're in this directory you can do certain things,
for example let's say we did the 'ls' command,
it's going to list out all of the folders that belonged to a root folder.
So we see we have: documents, downloads, dropbox, pictures, so on right.
If we want to see where we are in terms of everything else, like what folders are in
front of us and behind us and that sort of thing , we can use
'pwd' which going to print working directory and you can see we're in SMK
and in front of us its users.
So let's say that we want to go into one of these directories. All we have to do
is put change directory, which is 'cd'
then the name of the director, so let's say we put 'documents'.
I'll do you copy and paste paste it right here
you're more than welcome to do and boom were in documents and then you can see
right here were in document. So if you're ever curious where you are
just print, print out and you can see that we're in documents and that SMK is the
folder above us. So let's say we want to go back up to SMK how would we do that?
We would do: 'cd ..' that takes us right back in it and here we are.
So these are some of the very very high level of things that we can do with it.
So one of the other things you can do is we can create folders. So in order to
make a folder we all we have to do is go to 'mkdir'
which stands for make directory and then we create the name of the
folder so in this case we're going to call this parrot app or just call it
parrot,
so PARROT. If you want to create this in your right off of your
root folder you can go but in my case I want to create it in the
desktop. So , how am I going to do that? I'm going to come in and want to change directory,
go to desktop and boom now I am in desktop and then i'm going to make directory.
Right made directory and boom
I've made the directory! And now let's see if it's there.
It's right here you can see I in the list, node.js, Sandbox,
that's right there! So let's move into this to actually, do CD and also you want
to make sure that it's lower case!
So you don't want to use any upper case. Now we know that we are here in
'parrot' and just to make sure
boom you can see we are in desktop and in the parrot app. So let's say
that, just to give you another example it's right up here so we can see the folder
was created! So once we've done that now we can follow this. So make sure we're
in here and let's finish up to the heroku install. We want to do we want to 'cd'
into the app so we just did that and then we want to do '$heroku create'. Ok now
I already have the toolbelt but in your case you want to do '$heroku create'
You can also copy and paste it and I will provide this stuff and all of
the resources. So you can do a lot of copy pasting so boom and then just press
enter and boom it'll it'll let you go ahead and it will create that for you. So
once you've done that
the very next thing I need you to do is you want to get the latest version of
'NPM'. Now here's the command line for that its: 'sudo npm install npm --global' and
the way that looks something like this.
Enter it's going to ask you for your password so let me put mine in real quick.
Once you've done it, it's going to initialize, is going to go through all
these different processes going to install the Npm for you and make sure
that it's up to date. After we've done that, we're going to initialize git. What
does that mean? It's going to create a repository inside that folder so you
know we can create programs that sort of thing. So as soon as this is done
that's going to be the next step so
once you've completed this it's going to look something like that.
So let's do: 'npm init'. Boom there you go!
So now what it's going to do it's going to walk us through creating the
package. So right now the first things it is asking me as what do you want to call
your app? So I will call it 'parrot'. Then it's going to ask what's the version?
1.0.0 is fine
Description, you can add a description here, you can make it say whatever you want.
You can skip this just by pressing enter which is what i'm doing right. Now you
can add a your git repository to here. Keywords
again this is so people could find it more easily, also you could put your name
here,
license. And then say this look okay? Yes
and boom it's created for you! So let's do 'LS' just to see what's in this
folder. So now we know that in the 'parrot' folder we have the the package.jason
file in there. So once you've done this
good job so far! Now last but not least we're going to be installing the
dependencies.
So this dependency is called the 'body parser' and it's going to allow us to
manipulate how the messages look so it's going to parse them up so you can do a
copy and paste it in here or you can just follow along. Put 'npm install
express request: body-parser' and then just enter it and it's going to go
through this process
and boom. So now you have this dependency, very very important to have
this dependency!
So once you've done this, congratulations you have set up your server and you're
ready to move on to the next part! And once again thank you for taking the
class, I look forward to seeing you in the next one!
