Youtube daily report Jun 6 2017

Hey Wisecrack, Jared here and today we're talking about one of the best superhero movies

in years - Logan.

Logan is radically different from other superhero movies, and especially other X-Men movies.

That's because, well… it's not really a superhero movie at all.

This fresh approach to the franchise puts forward a surprising message about the world's

relationship to nature, and even a metacommentary on the Marvel Cinematic Universe that you

might have missed.

Welcome to this Wisecrack Edition on the Philosophy of Logan.

And you guessed it- spoilers ahead.

But first a quick recap.

Logan is the heart-tugging tale of Wolverine, Charles Xavier, and a mute refugee kid evading

cyborg child predators out to weaponize mutancy.

It takes place in a future where mutants have become nearly extinct, and Logan drives an

Uber to save enough money to escape from the law with Charles.

Before we can dive into the philosophy, we have to understand what the movie is: it's

a Western.

And not just because it's sandy and takes place in, you know, the West.

According to sociologist Will Wright in his book "Sixguns and Society," the classic

Western follows a pretty standard structure: our hero, often a man "from the wild,"

enters a social group, gets dragged into a conflict to protect his new civilized, but

weak, friends, before finally saving the day, and usually, becoming a part of this new group.

To grasp Logan's Western roots, pay attention to the "from the wild" part.

Throughout all the X-Men movies, both good and bad, we're reminded of Wolverine's

animal nature.

Logan doesn't really find a new group of friends, but finds a family with Laura and

Charles, and later, with the other Transigen kids.

The film makes a point to juxtapose the civilized love of his friends with his innate "wild

nature": there's Logan's violence, his resilience to pick up Laura in the first place,

his swearing, we even get some distinctly animal-like noises while Logan is sleeping.

As an ode to all this, we see Charles and Laura watching a classic Western in their

hotel room: Shane.

In the film, our gun-slinging hero Shane emerges from the wild, makes friends with some homesteaders,

and saves them from a cattle baron.

Shane realizes his violent ways have no place in society and rides back into the woods,

perhaps to die, depending on who you ask.

Replace "homesteaders" with "family" and "cattle baron" with "megacorporation"

and you've got Logan in a nutshell.

A very deliberate nutshell.

But as much as Logan is a Western like Shane, it's also a "post-Western" in the tradition

of movies like Clint Eastwood's Unforgiven.

A Post Western discards the tired black and white binaries between good and evil and explores

what happens when these men of the Wild West return to a drastically different world- one

that has moved past them.

They are, in short, about living in the "end of an era."

Just as a post-Western might feature a cowboy whose violent nature is a relic from the pre-industrial

era, Logan features s Wolverine as a relic from the age of Mutants.

He, like a post-Western hero, has to grapple with what it means to be living in a new world-

a world where mutants are nearly extinct.

The only evidence of Logan's former world is in X-Men comic books.

With that in mind, we can start to understand what Logan is trying to say about nature.

All we need is a little help from a 500-year-old English legal practice.

Let me explain.

"Nature", as a theme, is everywhere in Logan.

Charles tends a garden, Logan wants to escape the world and live on the open seas, and Charles

compares Laura to wildlife.

Nature is also juxtaposed with technology: natural mutants are set against cyborgs, twice

we're reminded Laura isn't natural, the family farm is pit up against a giant agricultural

company pumping corn syrup into our bodies, and Charles laments being "pharmaceutically

castrated" by all the drugs he's taking.

And Logan, a natural mutant, is being killed by his artificial adamantium skeleton.

There's a specific historical development that embodies this struggle, and can teach

us a bit about how our world, and Logan's, works.

It's called "enclosure.

Enclosure was an English practice of taking communal land, free for anyone's use, and

"enclosing" it into private farms; cutting it off from the public.

The underlying logic is: take something open, unpredictable, imperfect, and uncontrollable,

and "order" it with rules and law, to the detriment of the public.

In the West, vast open swaths of land were free for animals to graze in, before the advent

of barbed wire encouraged farmers to fence them in, to the detriment of these free spaces.

Enclosure not only motivates the conflict in Shane, but all the themes in Logan seem

designed to reflect it.

In Shane, a group of homesteaders duke it out with a cattle baron to see who has the

right to order the West: whether that order is for everyday people or for the cattle baron's

moneyed interest.

In Logan, the Munsons duke it out with Transigen over this same issue of land use.

A conversation about eminent domain: becomes very enclosure-esque as public water becomes

unavailable to the Munsons.

becomes very enclosure-esque as public water becomes unavailable to the Munsons.

And Logan yearns to be on the open ocean, a place free of borders and the creeping encroachment

of corporate enclosure.

But this focus on enclosure takes on ANOTHER meaning as Logan and Charles duke it out with

Transigen to see who has the right to order the future of mutancy.

See, Conflicts of enclosure are not necessarily of open space, but, well, everything.

As writer Raoul Martinez notes, "Enclosure has moved beyond... territories, extending

the reach of markets into every corner of our lives...

In what some have dubbed 'an enclosure of the mind', intellectual property rights are

being extended to include facets of life that were once considered uncommodifiable.

...algorithms, symbols, words, ideas, seeds and even human genes.

In other words, if Pythagoras were alive today, someone would patent his theorems and create

some kind of triangle-based startup.

Ideas, which once freely contributed to society, are patents and commodities to be traded.

Gene sequences freely available in nature are becoming the intellectual property of

pharmaceutical companies.

Transigen has turned the genetic information of Wolverine and countless other mutants into

patents and R&D projects.

It's not just that companies are making a profit off somebody else's genes.

The core logic of enclosure is turn any semblance of the "commons," which is unmanageable,

and potentially dangerous and turn it into something manageable, When it comes to the

enclosure of genetic material, the naturally occurring version becomes a liability to corporate

interest seeking to profit off their own artificial version.

Hence, the wild west of naturally-occurring mutants must end.

Just as Shane marks the end of lawless open land, Logan marks the end of organic mutancy.

Mutant powers are fine, so long as they are in the hands of a corporation that allegedly

has everything under control.

Meanwhile, events like Charles' seizure become proof that natural mutancy is dangerous

and uncontrollable.

Enclosure creates a world where "safe" and "business-friendly" are walled off

from the unwieldy wild, and anything outside those borders must slowly be incorporated

into it.

The logic of borders, both real and metaphorical, are not lost on Logan.

The beginning of the film shows us Logan navigating between the United States and Mexico, the

border operates to let American businessmen and party-goers in and out, in the service

of business, while presumably keeping everything else out.

This creeping control of business into all aspects of life frames Logan's internal

struggle.

A man who drives people around for money, Logan only initial risks his life for Laura

for a fat stack of cash.

Meanwhile, Charles serves as a counterpoint: all of that gardening stuff becomes a compelling

metaphor for Logan.

Charles nurtures people out of compassion, and encourages Logan to care for Laura regardless

of money.

This nurturing attitude is juxtaposed with Pierce, who reminds Caliban: "I've got a theory

that people don't really change" and Dr. Rice who prefers artificial design over nature.

The real battle for Laura is a battle for her soul: will she be like Logan, a man who

'can't break the mold,' or can she avoid his mistakes by living with a nurturing family?

Logan eventually seems to side with Charles, opting to refuse the money from Laura and

giving up his life.

Logan's nemesis, X-24, is a soulless version of himself, a compelling reminder of what

he could have been: a mindless mercenary at the beck and call of his corporate masters.

In the final showdown with the Reavers, we get a real captain planet moment as the kids

use elemental forces, ice, electricity and grass, to kill Reaver.

Laura gives a eulogy for the fallen Logan, reciting the words from Shane.

In Shane, these words justify his retreat back into nature.

While his violent ways saved the homesteaders, they can never exist alongside the town they

hope to build - devoid of violence.

Shane can't break the mold - and neither can Logan.

Laura's words remind us that Logan's violence was incompatible with the future Charles hoped

for Laura - but his violence also enabled them to build that better future, free from

violence and the interference of people like Transigen.

It's the "end of an era" for the X-Men, and Logan's sacrifice established a new

world for his daughter.

So while Logan shows a triumph over the logic of enclosure, what if this also served to

be a sly commentary on the state of comic book movies.

Logan accomplishes this "end of an era" schtick really well, in the movie, but also

as early as the marketing campaign.

Remember that Post-Western stuff before?

The original post-Westerns were about the "end of the Wild West."

Our uncivilized and free cowboys have settled off to live a peaceful existence, before being

drawn back into a "West" they no longer recognize.

And for us, the viewer: we are drawn back into the world of the X-Men, but confronted

with a strange and alien world.

But what if also something really meta going on here?

Let's not forget that Westerns were Hollywood's bread and butter for many years, similar to

how Superhero movies are today.

If we want to reframe "nature vs business" to "artistry vs business," the struggle

of Logan as a character reflects the battle over the "soul" of Wolverine.

In the ruthless profiteering world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and their pissing

contest with Fox - who owns the X-Men rights - nothing is sacred: Marvel allegedly cancelled

Fantastic Four comics to deprive Fox of source material, Fox will sue the hell out of Marvel

if any of their movies dare say the word "mutant," and entire movies are made just so that Fox,

Sony, or Marvel can retain the rights to certain franchises *cough* The Amazing Spiderman.

Dasha Presents Update 0.6.6 - Duration: 4:37.

Greetings, fellow Captains!

Today I will tell you about a new battle mode,

sound improvements,

balance fixes, and other changes coming in Update 0.6.6.

Update 0.6.6 Review

Welcome to the briefing!

We have the following missions on the agenda:

rescue an aircraft carrier,

repel a superior enemy force,

attack a convoy, and bask in the well-deserved fame.

Where do we start?

In the new cooperative mode—Operations!

Here's what you need for Operations:

a keen eye, attentiveness,

Tier V or VI ships, and, at least,

level 8 in the Service Record.

Update 0.6.6

will bring four action-packed operations with different tasks and achievements,

multiple enemies,

spectacular explosions and, last but not least,

deserved rewards!

An Operation of the Week becomes available every seven days.

You can participate in it with random players,

or together with battle-proven companions in a Division comprising up to seven people.

Did you miss an Operation of the Week or want to improve your previous result?

Gather at least four brothers-in-arms

and choose any available Scenario!

The success of an Operation depends directly on additional tasks.

The rule is simple— the more tasks you complete,

the greater the reward,

of course that's only if you accomplish the main task as well.

The maximum number of stars is five, one for each additional task.

Operations is the first mode of the new battle type—Scenarios,

which will be gradually supplemented with other interesting events.

In Update 0.6.6, we significantly upgraded the game audio.

We added new compositions,

and improved the sound effects for weather,

ports, and interactive music.

Apart from that, you can download

a package of high-quality sounds at any time,

which will help immerse you in the atmosphere of naval battles.

The package will improve the sound of shots

and add new nuances to the acoustic profile of the game.

After numerous requests, we updated the mechanics for launching torpedoes.

If a captain gave the order to launch at the last moment

before their ship was destroyed,

all the torpedoes will be sent to their target.

Good news for owners of US ships Montana, Iowa, and Missouri.

Now, it will be easier for them to engage in an active battle against other battleships.

In Update 0.6.6 their citadel was lowered,

it is almost at the waterline now.

Maneuver, surprise, and win!

German cruisers can now boast

not only good damage for armor-piercing shells,

but also increased penetration for high-explosive ammunition.

This change applies to cruisers of Tier IV and higher.

Destroyer Yugumo now has an extended assortment of armament.

Go ahead and try the third modification of Type 93 torpedoes.

I'm sure, your adversaries will be quite impressed.

As usual, you can find the full list of changes

in the patch notes on our website.

That's all for now. My name is Dasha Perova.

Subscribe to our channel

and stay tuned for more news!

German cruisers can now boast

not only good damage for armor-piercing shells,

but also increased…

permutation…

but also increased penetration for HE shells.

- Dasha, please don't forget about Dunkirk...

- You mean the battleship?

- Not exactly...

- I see…

Russia's Radioactive Past Comes Back To Haunt Its Citizens (HBO) - Duration: 6:46.

— Anton Kolomitsyn is what the Russians call a stalker:

he roams the hidden nooks of the countryside, looking for lost relics of war.

But earlier this year,

while he was exploring old machine gun bunkers,

he found something more than he'd expected.

— The bunkers are relics of a Stalin-era campaign to protect Russia's northwest from invasion.

They line the forests around the Finnish border.

— So the idea here with this is that…

I don't wanna get any particles to touch my skin, right?

That's why we do this?

— In the 1950s, the bunkers were updated with what was then a modern marvel:

luminescent radium paint, which glowed in the dark—

and was loaded with radiation.

— Today, the bunkers sit innocuously in people's backyards.

Children play in their concrete frames, and scavengers break them down for metal parts.

After his discovery this February,

Anton called Viktor Tereshkin, an environmental journalist,

who published his findings in a local paper.

They're returning to one of their earliest finds,

to see if the government has done anything to secure the site.

— Anton and Viktor have all but made it a personal mission

to find the radioactive bunkers and warn people who live nearby.

The government, they say, seems to pay little attention.

— This is no isolated incident.

Decades after the Cold War,

residue of Russia's unbridled experimentation with nuclear materials

remains scattered across the country, still posing a threat to citizens.

Nils Bøhmer monitors radioactive waste in Russia for the environmental nonprofit Bellona:

— The problem of radioactivity in Russia is quite widespread.

You find it all over Russia, in local areas.

It all started with the nuclear weapon race

between the U.S. and Soviet Union, at the end of the '40s.

Especially in the Soviet Union, there was a very huge industry build-up—

a lot of the secrecy surrounding development of nuclear weapons in Russia.

Now, the people living in these contaminated areas,

or have been evacuated,

have received very little information about the health consequences.

— In the Ural Mountains village of Muslyumovo,

residents have been struggling for decades with the consequences of a radioactive spill.

In 1957, the reactor at a nearby nuclear plant exploded,

triggering the largest radioactive plume in history.

Today, it's magnitude would be third only to Chernobyl and Fukushima.

You've never heard of it because, until the 1970s, it was a military secret.

— How many people in the town do you think have had some symptoms from radioactivity?

— Venera Guysina is a local environmental activist.

She and other experts say radioactive waste continued to be dumped into the village river

for decades after the incident.

In 2006, Russian officials moved the entire village to a new site—

less than a mile away.

— Minifiza Batirshin grew up in the original Muslyumovo.

Her husband, Vakil, moved here 25 years ago.

He's since developed massively swollen lymph nodes.

Like much of the situation in Muslyumovo,

Vakil's exact diagnosis remains steeped in mystery.

Outside medical experts say it can be hard to definitively trace any one condition to radiation.

— Do you have any doubt that your symptoms are related to radioactivity?

— The uncertainty has left the family in limbo.

Vakil says the government promised him free medical care,

if he can get to a major hospital.

It's also offered a little money if the family wants to move.

They say they still can't afford it.

— But do you wish that she and her family would leave town?

Share with me.. my contemplation upon this great creation..

and send a video to; Noon Website, showing..

your reflection about the creation of Allah, Almighty.

"Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity,"

".. were a joined entity, and We separated them.."

"and made from water every living thing?"

"Then will they not believe?"

[Surat Al-Anbya]

We can live for weeks without food..

But we can't live for days without water!!

So, what is so specific about water?!

and what is the secret behind the cohesion of this liquid?!

and why all scientific researches are about looking for water.. on other planets?!

[Water and Life]

'Fasero..'

'If it wasn't because of Allah, it wouldn't have occurred..'

'Fasero..'

'From this you will attain faith..'

Everything that is alive.. water must be part of its component!

So, with water.. blood runs in our veins..

and rivers run in the veins of Earth.

With water..

the heart beats..

and the land grows.

"It is] the work of Allah, who perfected all things."

Water is the secret of life!../Dr. Muhammad Al-Qadat, Assistant professor, Geology department, Beirut University

water on this planet is special..

and it is different from water on other planets.. as it is..

water is present on other planets, but it is frozen.

Its being in the liquid form, this is a special feature of the water that is present only on Earth planet!

Tealman Spoun, the director of the Institute for Planetary of the German Airspace Center.

When we study water from its chemical aspect.. /Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Al-Mukami, Faculty Member, Department of Marine Sciences, Kuwait

It is formed of two atoms of Hydrogen and one atom of Oxygen..

When we look at its structure.. the distribution of the atoms.. you will see something that is amazing..

The water molecule is known to be Bipolar..

because the Hydrogen and the Oxygen atoms are distributed in the water molecule with certain angles in relation to one another

this configuration gives the water molecule the characteristic of attraction

One drop of water..

contains 5000 Million water molecules!

This huge number.. Allah, Almighty has coordinated it in a perfect and calculated arrangement

The ratio of water in my body.. yours.. and everyone's.. /Dr. Ahmed Abdul Malik, Family Medicine Specialist

is about 65%..

and this ratio is almost similar to the ratio of water on Earth..

we can say that almost 3/4 of your body weight is water..

This is huge..

and this reflects the importance of water in our bodies.

Water accounts for 73% of the heart and brain, 83% of the lungs and 31% of the bones.

From the way the water atoms are arranged, you will find that..

when it freezes, the ice floats..

i.e. its density decreases!

though it is the same molecule.. But,

at different temperatures, the arrangement of the Hydrogen and the Oxygen atoms in the water molecule changes..

and this creates pores..

that causes the ice to float!

The scientists asked themselves..

Was the water ever present?

Or is it recently formed?

So, they have put theories, where did the water come from?

The second theory is that water came from the outer space as frozen water..

and on earth, as the effect of heat, it became in the liquid form!

they proved that primarily, with volcanoes, water comes from the interior of Earth!

This theory is the most firm and most solid scientifically.

There is a great verse in Surat Al-Mu'minun, it is about the persistence of water on Earth without being spoiled..

the Almighty said:

"And We have sent down rain from the sky in a measured amount and settled it in the earth."

" And indeed, We are Able to take it away."

How much water do we need?

Unfortunately, there in no simple answer for this question!

because the amount of water we need, depends upon 3 factors;

depends upon the person himself.. his gender.. his height..

and what is your food is like!

Do you know that we get 20% of our fluid requirements from food!

the third factor is.. where do you live?!

i.e. the climate!

including the temperature.. the humidity.. altitude..

All these has an influence on the body need..

We all agree that one of the sources of energy in this universe is from water..

So, this time our experience was planned to be at one of the plants, where energy is generated from water..

'Fasero..'

'If it wasn't because of Allah, it wouldn't have occurred..'

'Fasero..'

How do you benefit from this huge water dam?

Also, it is a source of energy..

So, they get energy from waterfalls.. water currents.. etc..

How many dams the company have?

How much the average energy that you get yearly from these dams, in Albania?

Starting from cells..

to tissues.. to organs..

their main constituent is water..

So, your body is formed of water!

The blood, that is the main fluid, in human body, that carries nutrients and Oxygen to the cells..

and that carries the waste products to get rid of them..

is mainly formed of water!

Your skin.. your brain..

all of them depend on water..

The kidneys need water to eliminate the waste products from the body

Also the cooling mechanisms that involves sweating, they depend on water..

So, I'm not overstating if I said that water is a fundamental component in human body..

Simply, without water we can't live!!

748 million people in the world can not find a source of safe drinking water.

Nothing lives without water..

If there is no water or for instance it became polluted..

So, famines, as in Africa and other places.. are due to lack of water ..

they have the sun, manpower and many other things.. but there is no water!

So, life dies!

The chemical construction of the water molecule, from Oxygen and Hydrogen atoms, has given water many specifications..

for example, it boils at 100° C and it freezes at 0° C

and also, water is a universal solvent..

and water has the property of cohesion and adhesion.

it is a perfect creation from Allah, Almighty.. because in plants..

because of this last property, water is able to ascend up in the tall plants from the roots..

some of the trees are hundreds of meters long!

Water has a dormant energy that is higher than that of earth..

So, it maintains the Global climate, on Earth..

and It gains heat slowly.. and loses it slowly..

and the reverse of that is done by the land.

the land gains heat fast and loses it fast.

From your point of view, what is the importance of water for us, as Human Beings?

A person can live for about a month without food, but only about a week without water.

If your body didn't get water for one day or less, you will have dehydration.

Without drinking water for 3 to 4 days, moderate dehydration will begin in the mucus membranes of the body..

the lips.. the nose.. they become dry..

with headache..

it is a peculiar kind of headache that happens only to people who were lost in desert..

it is strange.. sever.. and very painful..

after the sixth or the seventh day.. dehydration becomes Sever..

and the skin will begin to dry..

the soft skin that we have will turn dry.. and very hard.. as that of the snake.. or of the Uromastyx.

Then, the muscles will cramp..

with dizziness..

loss of consciousness..

and without I.V. fluids, death happens within hours!!

Water..

is an essential element in building the bodies of all living creatures..

71% of Earth is water..

Man.. Animals.. plants.. cannot live without water..

So, Water in this Dunya is for making life..

But at Akhira, in Jannah.. it is for pleasure

""Your good tidings today are [of] gardens beneath which rivers flow,"

"wherein you will abide eternally." That is what is the great attainment.

May Allah grants us all, the water of Jannah.

'Before it's the right time..'

'nothing was there..'

'there was no time.. no place!'

'Allah just said to the universe; Be.. and it is!'

'Life will be beautiful..'

'If we just have reflected upon the signs given from Al-Ilah..'

'beautify your vision by.. looking at all that is made by His Hands..

'Fasero..'

'you will see how Allah has created it..'

'Fasero..'

'There is no a fault to be found..'

10 EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES WE REALLY LOVE - Are You BRAVE enough To RIDE #9? - Duration: 10:14.

10 Emerging Technologies we can't wait to see more of

#10 Gravity - human propulsion technology

Gravity has invented a human propulsion technology that re-imagines manned flight.

The technology combines body mounted miniaturized jet-engines with a specially designed exo-skeleton

allowing vertical take off and flight.

The jet-engine suit is pioneering an entirely new category in aviation history.

I wonder if they have it in 3XL.

#9 WingBoard –

Meet the WingBoard: it's like a wakeboard, but instead of slicing through waves behind

a boat, you're carving through the clouds behind a plane.

Whether it's wakeboarding, gliding, skydiving, wing walking, or flying with a wingsuit, adventure

enthusiasts continue to push the envelope.

The WingBoard takes the thrill of these adventure sports to another dimension, combining the

exhilaration of prolonged flight with the rush that comes when you're in control.

And don't worry, if you fall, just get up and do it again.

Wingboard.

#8 Hololens by Microsoft

Air New Zealand has recently revealed it's been working with Dimension Data to use the

mixed reality Hololens as a way of enhancing its cabin crew services.

The airline's project is still at an experimental stage, but it demonstrates an interesting

implementation of the technology.

When looking at a passenger, the HoloLens allows the flight attendant to immediately

get a display of their details, preferred meal, travel plans and even the time elapsed

since their last drink.

Some work is being done on detecting a passenger's emotional state, possibly through facial expressions

or heart rate detection.

As an early demonstration of how the HoloLens could be applied in real-life this is a compelling

case for the device's existence.

#7 OMNI HOVERBOARD

Looks like we're catching up to the future.

The Omni Hoverboard is here.

Well almost here.

It's inventor, Alex Duru holds the Guinness World Record for the farthest hoverboad flight:

905 feet, 2 inches.

The flight lasted 11⁄2 minutes.

Not exactly a full day of Hoverboarding, but we all have to start somewhere.

Duru and his team are now developing a second prototype that's sleeker, more powerful,

and safe enough for an eager public.

He plans for it to be ready for distribution this year.

So keep looking up for the Hoverboard

#6 icaros

The ICAROS setup is wireless, quick and easy.

The system includes the ICAROS device, controller and a VR headset.

Choose from mind-blowing VR experiences such as flying, diving or free falling.

Alone or in multiplayer, in the sky, underwater, on the racetrack or in space.

ICAROS offers unique experiences.

All experiences feature several difficulty levels and duration's optimized for the use

in fitness or entertainment environments.

#5 PAL Robotics

Dubai will soon be patrolled by crime-fighting droids.

These kinda creepy looking droids will come equipped with face-scanning technology able

to scan faces from 20 meters away, and tablets mounted in their chests to take crime reports.

You'll also be able to pay traffic fines.

They won't say whether or not these robo-officers will come with donuts, but time will tell.

These crime-fighting droid will make up one QUARTER of the city's police force by 2030.

PAL robotics.

#4 SR3 – BY Solar Roadways

Solar panels that you can drive, park and walk on.

They melt snow & cut greenhouse gases by 75% ?!!!

Imagine our highways providing enough solar energy to power much of the U.S.

The company was founded in 2006 by Scott and Julie Brusaw,

They envisioned replacing asphalt surfaces with structurally-engineered solar panels

capable of withstanding vehicular traffic.

The proposed system would require a type of glass that doesn't exist yet, but they're

working on that.

In the meantime the cost estimate of $10,000 for a 12×12-foot section, would cost approximately

$56 trillion to replace all the roads in the U.S.

Video: Heavy rain on tap; sun returns tomorrow - Duration: 2:53.

>> GOOD TUESDAY TO YOU, I'M

METEOROLOGIST CINDY FITZGIBBON,

STILL RAINING OUT THERE AND LOOK

AT THE RAIN TOTALS SINCE

YESTERDAY, OVER 3.5 INCHES ON

THE CAPE.

MARSHFIELD 2.5, OVER A COUPLE OF

INCHES IN WELLESLEY.

DEDHAM AND HAVERHILL AND BOSTON

ALL COMING IN BETWEEN AN INCH

AND INCH AND A HALF OF RAIN SO

WE HAVE HAD A GOOD SOAKING HERE

AND WE ARE NOT DONE YET.

WE HAVE GOT ONE AREA OF LOW

PRESSURE CUTTING OUT TO THE

SOUTH AND THE UPPER LEVEL PART

OF THIS STORM IS GOING TO KIND

OF HANG BACK SO THAT IS GOING TO

KEEP THE RAIN GOING.

BUT THIS LOW HAS BEEN KICKING UP

THE WINDS, WE'RE SEEING SOME

GUSTS OVER 30 MILES PER HOUR,

NOW THE WINDS ARE GOING TO STEP

DOWN A BIT OVER THE COURSE OF

THE DAY.

THEY ARE GOING TO BE OUT OF THE

NORTHEAST 15 TO 20 TO 25 MILES

PER HOUR.

THAT IS GOING TO KEEP THE

TEMPERATURES DOWN.

SO WE'RE GOING TO SEE THOSE

TEMPERATURES HOLD BASICALLY

STEADY THROUGHOUT THE DAY, AND

LOOK AT THIS.

UPPER 40s TO AROUND

50 DEGREES, AND NOW AT MIDNIGHT

IN BOSTON, IT WAS 52, AND THAT

IS SIGNIFICANT BECAUSE WE GO

BACK IN THE RECORD BOOKS AND YOU

LOOK, THE COOLEST, HIGH

TEMPERATURE WE HAVE EVER HAD ON

JUNE 6 IN BOSTON WAS 52, AND

THAT'S WHERE WE WERE AT

MIDNIGHT, AND THAT RECORD TIES

FROM 1926 IN WORCESTER, SO FAR,

THE HIGH HAS BEEN 49, AND I

DON'T THINK THAT WE'RE GOING TO

GET ANY HIGHER, THAT BEATS THE

OLD RECORD OF 51, SO THIS IS NOT

NORMAL.

WE'LL SEE THE TEMPERATURES MAYBE

SNEAK INTO THE LOWER 50s DOWN

HERE ON THE CAPE BUT THAT IS

STILL A GOOD 20 DEGREES BELOW

AVERAGE FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR.

SO IT IS COOL, AND IT IS RAW,

AND WE HAVE GOT THAT WET WEATHER

AROUND, YOU CAN SEE THE STEADIER

RAIN THROUGH LUNCHTIME AND INTO

THE AFTERNOON THIS HEAVIER RAIN

OFF TO THE WEST IS GOING TO

SHIFT IN AND FILL IN SO THE RAIN

GETS A LITTLE HEAVIER FOR THAT

EVENING COMMUTE, AND IT WILL

ONLY SLOWLY TAPER OFF AS WE GET

CLOSER TO MIDNIGHT, AND WE'LL

DRY THINGS OUT AFTER MIDNIGHT

BEFORE THE SUN COMES UP

TOMORROW.

AND LOW TEMPERATURES TONIGHT

HOLD IN THE 40s TO NEAR 50,

AND TOMORROW, IS BETTER.

WE'RE IN THE 60s NEAR THE

COASTLINE WITH THE LIGHT

NORTHEASTERLY WIND, AND LOOK AT

THAT, UP THROUGH THE MERRIMACK

VALLEY WE COULD SNEAK UP INTO

THE LOWER 70s.

CLOUDS EARLY ON AND FROM NORTH

TO SOUTH THE SKIES CLEAR, SUN

RETURNS, GETS BRIGHTER AS THE

HIGH PRESSURE NOSES DOWN.

THAT'S GOING TO PUT US IN GOOD

SHAPE ON THURSDAY AS WELL.

IT LOOKS MOSTLY SUNNY.

LOTS OF LOWER 70s BUT LOOK

WHAT HAPPENS NOW.

WE GO FROM THURSDAY ON INTO

FRIDAY, AND LET'S SEE IF I CAN

SHOW YOU THIS, THERE IS GOING TO

BE A STORM, IT APPEARS THAT I

CAN'T POP THAT OUT BUT THERE IT

IS.

THERE IS GOING TO BE A STORM

HERE, GOING BY OUT TO THE SEA,

AND IT MAY COME CLOSE ENOUGH NOW

THAT IT WILL BRING US A PERIOD

OF RAIN ON FRIDAY, SO FRIDAY NOW

DOES LOOK LIKE WE WILL GET SOME

RAINFALL.

BEHIND IT, THOUGH, SOUTHWESTERLY

WINDS ARE REALLY GOING TO START

IT PICK UP.

SO THE TEMPERATURES COME UP.

SATURDAY IT LOOKS DRY.

WELL INTO THE 70s.

JUMPING UP INTO THE 80s HERE

ON SUNDAY AND BY MONDAY OF NEXT

What is the Season of Serendipity? | ALEX AND ANI - Duration: 1:36.

Serendipity happens.

It happens suddenly.

It happens unexpectedly.

It's so much greater than a random event.

But it is a random event because we don't set out looking for serendipity.

We set out looking for something else.

And it usually wipes us off our feet for a minute.

And we remember and discover, all in one moment, so much more than we ever set out to find.

As summer a season, thinking about serendipity can open the doors for the universe to conspire

with us and work with us in limitless ways.Imagine if the universe was your partner, in creating

serendipity.

You have this vast intelligence that was limitless in its power and its ability to

help you, take us in directions we never expected, that lead us to exactly where we need to be.

That is serendipity.

This Pair Of Peugeot 205 GTIs Has Been Decades In The Making - Duration: 5:45.

It was an exceptional car back then,

the era of GTI models-- the '80s.

My name is Jean-François.

I drive a Peugeot 205 GTI, 1.9 L 130 HP 1991.

My passion started in 1978 when my dad took me to car shows.

I used to collect 1/43 miniature models.

Like Obélix, I fell into it at a young age,

electric tracks to scale 1 in our garage.

I took up photography, covering car races

where the 205 GTI would compete in '84-'85.

My dad worked for Peugeot, and he took me to an exhibit in 1984.

It was the bomb back in the '80s.

Getting my license in 1985 was like a dream come true.

But the car was expensive; so was insurance.

Twenty-five years later at a store, I looked at a magazine--

the 205 GTI was celebrating its 25th anniversary.

I flipped the pages, gazing at the car.

I fell in love again and needed one fast.

Three months later, I found her--

205 GTI 1.6 L, 115 HP, 110 K on the engine.

Fifteen days later, I took the train with my daughter Sara to make the deal.

All the way up to Strasbourg.

Then I wanted a second one.

I found a 1.9 L, 130 HP, Miami blue.

However, it was almost a wreck.

That car drove me crazy.

Its Miami blue carcass, all beat up...

Would it ever run again?

The rear suspension weighed a ton.

Ouch!

However, two years later, it was in perfect running order.

After a long hiatus, how delightful it was to sit down, start the engine and give 'er.

Blasting the cassette player, riding hard,

full '80s style.

Say 👏🏼 It 👏🏼 To👏🏼 My 👏🏼 Face 👏🏼 | BooksNBoba's Vlogs - Duration: 3:37.

Hey, everybody its Alyssa.

Yea, this Vlog's gonna be a bit different.

You ever had it when people just don't say what they Mean?

Point one: If you have a problem with me

(or anybody really) like

say it to my face. I'm not saying this to be like

mean or like confrontational, but

I'd eally like to know if I'm bothering you

So, just to back track

I was at work one day, I work behind a counter, giving food and

I do this thing where I we have all these cups

small, medium, large, you know how it is and

For me if I'm helping somebody else at that register, then I take, like, their cup

from that register.

Sometimes, I run out of my cups. So, I just like -- It's to support the customer--

I take whatever cup is like near me

My coworker told

Another co-worker of mine. "UGH, I really hate when Alyssa takes my cups"

and I'm just like

Hey if you for problem with me

You can say it to my face...

You know what I mean?

Hey, and there's a problem, and there's a solution

Share it with the person you have a problem with.

Say it to my face!

I don't know it was just like (idk)

You know I already cleared this up with her. I'm not like talking behind her back.

I actually told her, like, "Hey

if there's an issue with me, let me know because...

I CAN'T FIX IT, if YOU DON'T TELL ME

You know? I want to support you. If I'm not being supportive,

or if I'm not

--You know-- If I'm doing something that bothers you or something that, like, seems wrong to you...

Say it to My Face!

Point 2: Can you imagine how easy would be if

people actually said what they meant?

You see in Anime all the time where they spend the WHOLE season

trying to tell somebody that they love them

And then

the other person likes them back

Simple. Okay.

That's great for a Anime. That's great for stories.

I'm a story writer like there's all this tension, and build up, and drama,

and I love that!

But, like, in the real world

You know? If you can avoid drama. I'd avoid it.

You're with your significant other and then?

You want to be like:

"Oh.

Hey,

I want to eat over here."

You know let's say it's poke.

"Hey I want to eat poke." but instead a lot of people do is

"Hmm. What do you want to eat?" "I don't know, what I want to eat.."

But you really know what you want to eat

"Oh, how about this?"

"No."

"how about this?"

"No"

"how about---"

"No"

"How about Poke?"

"Yeah, I think so!"

It's like just say what you mean! an You just spent a lot of time

wasting someone else's time. You know it's just.. say it to my face.

Say it to my face!

Either one: He agrees.

Or two: we disagree and

That's fine like maybe you can find some other solution

It saves a lot of time!

Just be honest with people

and that's basically what it is.

How about you guys?

Would you rather people say stuff to your face?

Go ahead and leave it in the comments below!

I hope you guys have a great day!

Read, Drink. and Be Merry!

Byyyyyyee!

3 Ways to Grow Yourself - Duration: 5:55.

Hi! I'm Sharon Jurd and welcome to my Biz Blitz video.

Today I want to talk about growing yourself because if you don't grow yourself then your business can't grow either.

So you've got to make sure that you are continually evolving so you can evolve

the business and this is really important.

In my one-on-one coaching with people, even though I am situated as a "business coach"

not a lot of business coaching, it is about people coaching because once your mindset

is set up right to go then you can easily be coached in business.

So what I do is start off with "Where's your mindset, where's your headspace,

what are those voices saying in your head?" because if can't grow past those then your business won't either.

So it's important to start with yourself.

But firstly, what you have to do is be honest about where you are actually at.

If those little voices in your head are saying, "You'll never earn a million dollars",

then you'll never earn a million dollars. So you've got to be really, really honest with yourself and say, "I'm in a bad headspace.

I can chant all day and say positive affirmations but really those voices

in my headare overpowering me or I have these beliefs that won't allow me to move forward.

Secondly, you have to actually get clear where you want to be.

Is it a million dollars that you want to earn? Is it a million people you want to reach?

Is it something that you want to do internationally or nationally rather than locally?

You have to have absolute clarity on where you want to end up.

Now that can change along the way but right now you need to go,

"This is where I'm at right now and this is what I want to achieve",

because if that's not clear to you then you will definitely not be able to grow yourself and move forward.

And lastly, then once you've got that clear, even if you haven't got it quite clear

but you're getting close you need helparound this.

If you go, "I've thought about it, I don't know where I want to be because

my beliefs or values or voices in my head will not allow me to think that I could possibly earn a million dollars."

Then you need to get help. And we all need to get help to grow ourself.

You can't grow yourself without listening to someone, watching their videos like you're doing now,

getting coaching, getting their online programs, getting their products. You have to have help around you to grow yourself.

And personal growth should be a never-ending journey. You can't say, "I'll read these books and I'm grown."

You have to keep growing. So you learn something new,

learn something newer and then you learn something newer and all the time you're growing yourself.

And I would say to you during this growth phase, if you are in a true growth phase is to write down,

just a little journal in point forms.

When I go through a huge growth phase I start jotting down things that are changing my life so I can monitor

those because what happens is you get a few months down the track and go, "I still feel the same",

because I'm still the same Sharon that I was 20 years ago but I have different beliefs, values and mindset.

But you don't feel that you're a different person.

You just behave differently and have a different outlook on things.

And so some of those changes even though they are major changes,

you might not see them because you're too busy in your everyday life so I would jot them down and it's so exciting to look back on.

When I wrote my book I started doing my little journal and I don't journal heavy, mine are just notes,

doesn't have to be a big essay but I could look back and I could see all the achievements

and all the changes and all the exciting things that happened to me during the course of me writing my book.

The first time someone sent me some mail saying, "Sharon Jurd Author"

that was an exciting time for me. It was something so little but really it changed my mindset going, "I am an author.

Someone's acknowledging me as an author." So make sure you do that because it's really, really rewarding.

To recap, to make sure that you grow yourself before your business because you need to be in front of your business,

Be honest with yourself, make sure you know exactly where you're at, where's your headspace

at and then get clear on where you want to be. What was your goal when you first opened your business?

What did you want to achieve and then get some help around you.

Good coaches will always help you get even more clarity than you have now.

So that's my points for you today. Go out, never stop growing.

Please, please educated yourself; learn from people, watch videos, listen to audios, go to seminars,

do all of that so you can implement that into your life and into your business and you will change so dramatically,

it will happen so fast you probably won't even notice it yourself.

I'm Sharon Jurd. I really do appreciate you joining me today.

If you believe that this video would be of value to your family, your friends or your colleagues please share it with them.

I want to share my message with as many people as I can

and I'm hoping that you'll be able to help me do that.

Thank you again for spending some time with me. I'm Sharon Jurd and we'll talk soon.

The Power of Three | DIT Financial Planning with Peter Guay - Duration: 4:30.

If my last "Do It Together" video has inspired you to move estate planning to the

top of your priority list -- especially if you have children -- I'm happy to have gotten

you past that first, and maybe most challenging hurdle: recognizing that you need to get it

done.

I'm Peter Guay of PWL Capital, and in today's "Do It Together" segment, let's keep

up that momentum, by going over the three key documents that make up a solid estate

plan at any stage in your life.

These are: your will, your power of attorney and your mandate.

While each is important in its own respect, they bring you and your family the most piece

of mind when you write all three together.

Today, I'll explain why that's the case.

Worst-case scenarios.

Even though we find it hard to believe they can happen to us, we know they sometimes do.

We can get injured or called away from our daily routine in any number of ways, and in

the extreme, meet with an untimely death.

While you may not be able to prevent the unexpected from throwing you for a loop, you can -- and

should -- spell out what you want to have happen if it does.

Three, relatively straightforward legal documents is all it takes.

These documents include your will, your power of attorney and your mandate- otherwise know as

Your living will.

Let's take a look at each one, and how they operate together.

First, there's your will.

Your will answers the three questions I brought up in my last video: Who will inherit your

estate?

Who will administer your estate?

And – so important – who will take care of your children, both day to day and financially,

if you pass away before they reach adulthood?

In short, your will covers your critical wishes in the event that you die.

That's an important start.

But what about life's many other "what if?"

events?

There are other circumstances that might not kill you, but can leave you temporarily or

permanently unable to be there for yourself or your loved ones.

Then what?

Your will is of no use in these circumstances.

And yet, you probably don't want others making critical decisions for you when you

could have made them for yourself in advance.

For this, you need those other two documents.

In contrast to your will (which only takes effect in the event of your death) your power

of attorney and your mandate apply while you are alive.

A power of attorney is your legal lifeline if you want or need someone else to manage

your property on your behalf.

A power of attorney can be narrowly defined -- such as giving someone the ability to access

your bank accounts and pay your bills for you for a specified period of time.

Or it can be a broader brush, such as granting someone full authority to access and administer

all of your worldly goods indefinitely, until the power is either revoked or otherwise ends.

To name a few examples, you may want a power of attorney if you need to buy a house, for instance

but you're travelling or you're out of the country, or you're stuck in a hospital, or you're

home nursing an injury.

In all of these cases, the person to whom you delegate Power of Attorney can sign documents

on your behalf.

This is often your spouse, or someone else you implicitly trust.

So if a power of attorney covers these sorts of events, what is a mandate for?

Well, with a mandate, also known as a living will, you can designate one or more people

(your mandataries) to take care of both your property and your personal health decisions

if you become temporarily or permanently incapacitated.

In other words, if you are no longer able to make decisions for yourself.

Once you reach that point, your Power of Attorney is no longer valid and your mandate takes

over.

Believe me, I hope you never, ever need a mandate.

But imagine if you were left requiring this level of care and you had not taken the time

to lay out your wishes in advance.

That not only reduces the likelihood that your wishes will be met, but it can leave

very painful questions unanswered for your loved ones to guess at.

Both are preventable through a little advance planning.

Okay, I know I'm being a little heavy here, but having just welcomed a my daughter into

the world last fall, the subject has been on my mind.

My wife and I have our documents in place, and we keep them updated regularly.

In the spirit of "Do It Together" financial planning, I want to help you do the same!

Next up, I'll explore some of the differences between creating wills in Quebec and Ontario,

as well as how each province handles your estate if you die intestate, without a will.

Sweeping on the Closed Guard - Greatmats BJJ Training Series w/Rodrigo Comprido Medeiros - Part 5 - Duration: 1:38.

Hi.

I'm Rodrigo Comprido.

That's Marcelo Cazuza.

We are here for the Greatmats Series.

Now we're going to make a sweep on the closed guard.

The situation here is my opponent is starting to posture up.

I will, once he gets up, I will break his grip and I will come to his leg.

I control his leg here and then move my hip as close as I can.

And I will come to his arm.

Make a pocket grip here and I control his arm.

I will put my hand on the floor, and then I'm going to roll my legs over and force my

knees to the floor.

So I open my guard and I roll my legs over with my hip really high.

And then I have to go with my hips to the floor at once.

Touch here, roll and come with my knees to the floor.

Keep my knee up and his hand trapped.

And then I turn on him.
