With series resistance...For f*cks sake...
With parallel connection lower than
Hey there!
Today our guest is nice and compact dotBox Dual Mech by dotMOD
Let's roll!
Hopushki vorobushki!
Hello everyone! Alex VaperMD is with you and i'm glad to welcome you on my channel
And today our guest is Noisy Cricket for rich people. This is dotBox Dual Mech by dotMOD
This box mod is powered by 2*18650's, full mechanical and with a feature to switch modes from parallel connection to series connection
These are the miracles that happen in this box mod and we'll talk about all of it in more details in close up
So...Let's dive down
So, friends, black packaging by dotMOD with a dotMOD logo
At the rear side we have warning, information about manufacturer, information about kit contents and barcode
Also, on side of the cover we have a sticker with color mark
Under the cover there is User Manual, certificate of authenticity and warning
And the device itself, of course. And that's all the kit contents there is
Okay, folks, a little bit of specs - this mod is made of aluminum and available in 4 colors - Black, Gold, Red and Blue
It features central connector position, fit for up to 24mm atomizers and is powered by 2*18650's
This is mechanical mod with the ability to work in two modes - series and parallel. Also you can completely break the connection and by doing so turn the mod Off
All of that is executed by the single switch, that is hidden under the cover
Manufacturer don't recommend using resistance lower than 0.1Ω with parallel connection and below 0.5Ω with series
And we start from the top, where we have gold-plated connector with gold-plated spring-loaded pin
This is 510 connector and it's positioned in the center on top part of the mod
This side is blank, on this side there is a door with dotMOD logo
This side is also blank, and here we a button and another door
On the bottom we have dotMOD logo, serial number and two notches for comfortable removal of doors
Okay, the battery compartment for 2*18650's is hidden under the door with the dotMOD logo
Door is held by 6 magnets - 3 on the body and 3 on door
In that battery compartment we have a ribbon for extraction of batteries. Also there is correct polarity marks - both batteries should be installed positive side up
At the bottom we have gold-plated spring-loaded contacts, clean-look in white color and two screws, which is holding the inner part of a button
We have another door at the side with a button. By removing that door you'll get access to switching modes
Also, this door is held by 8 magnets - 4 magnets on the body, 4 on the door
Pay attention to the switch - right now the mod is in parallel connection mode - arrow is pointed at it
On the top there is a circuit break ie Power Off
On the right side we have series connection mode and now I'll show you how to switch modes
Okay, after you have taken off that door you can switch modes with its help by inserting edge of the cover in that notch on the switch
And now by turning it to the right and fixating position of the switch you'll be switching modes
And I think that's all I could've tell you about about the principles of work of this box mod, but let's take a look inside it
And for a start we can disassemble the button
To do this we need to unscrew this black insulator, which unscrews counter clockwise
After you unscrewed that insulator you can get rid off the button
By the way, the button has this plastic inlay inside. Apparently, it's made to prevent button from heating up.
But I never felt that the button was heated up at all or the mod itself was heating up hard
And beneath the button we have a gold-plated contact with silver-plating on the main contacts
But be very cautious - pay attention, that there is 4 springs inside
One spring is just fell out
Well, it stuck to the magnet
Yes, all 4 springs is inside of plastic and because of these springs the button works
It's not very convenient to insert them, so better use tweezers
Okay, as you can see, inside we also have 2 silver-plated contacts and with closure of these contacts all the magic of this box mod happens
But that's not all, let's take a look deeper and remove this plastic cover
And after you unscrewed all screws you can get rid of this plastic cover and get inside of the box mod
And this is how interesting the whole contact group looks like
It gold-plated and it gives us opportunity to switch between parallel and series connection
There is a mode switch, as well as a circuit break. And here is the button in plastic casing
Actually, this is very interesting and difficult solution. But I'll tell you - it do its job
As you can see, the switch has two main modes - to the right and to the left. In the middle is circuit break - contacts don't touch
Friends, I don't know how durable and stable it is, but right now it's working well
Okay, enough looking at it, let's assemble it
So, friends, everything is ready for installing 2*18650's in here
As I said before, we'll insert batteries positive side up on both sides
One battery goes positive side up and the second goes positive side up as well
After this snap one door
Snap another cover and right now the box mod isn't functional, since the switch is off
Next everything is simple - screw down the RDA, switch to parallel connection
Snap the door, press the button and, as you can see, box mod is fires
I have one more box mod in Red color which I'm using and it's in parallel mode as well
I don't use series connection, so today all the tests will be with parallel connection
As you can see both box mods is in functional state
So thanks for your attention in close up
Let's go up to
Hohohohoho
RDA is chucking clouds, box mod is performs like a beast, everything is great in that aspect
Right now, this box mod is in parallel mode, I have a 0.1Ω build and it works perfectly
Box mod is hits so hard, that I can feel how that amperage goes through coils
But, anyway, I found several cons in this box mod and we'll talk about it right now
And first con to this box mod I'll give for...
Rattle of battery door
At least on this Red version on the side where the button is
On that side the door is rattles as well, but not as loud as door on opposite side with a button
Let's try Gold version
Well, here we have the same story. Doors rattle and that's why I'm giving a con
Next con to this box mod I'll give for inconvenience of cleaning of contact group
Despite the fact, that contact group is silver-plated, black dots(aka arks) will be appearing anyway
And you will have to clean it sooner or later anyway
And it's not that easy to get to these small contacts and it'll be very hard to get to inner contacts
So for that inconvenience I'm giving a con
I'm done with cons, let's talk about nitpicks
I have only one nitpick
When you press the button you're feeling that little crunching and rustling. It's because of 4 springs is inside
And button kinda hooked and you can feel it. It's not very pleasing moment and that's why it's a nitpick
Zharko(hot)
Let's talk about pros
First pro to this box mod I'll give for interesting and working implementation of switching modes
Everything happens fast and easy. You're not bothering in the moment of switching modes at all
And, the most important, in this box mod we have an option to turn it Off completely. It's very good
Next pro to this box mod I'll give for its great performance
It's just incinerates your RDA. It really giving out all the power to the last drop
Even with parallel connection with a 0.1Ω build
It really performs like a freaking beast
I'm not a fan of series connection, but in series it hits even harder
But the main thing is your safety, friends
Don't forget, that even manufacturer himself states on the site, that it's crucial to use correct resistance
In parallel connection, resistance should be above or equal 0.1Ω, in series connection resistance should be above or equal 0.5Ω. It's important!
Next pro to this box mod I'll give for central landing of atomizers. I love when connector is in the center and I'm giving a pro for that
Another pro I'll give for convenient location of a button. No matter how you hold it - either in right or left hand - it'll be always comfortable to press Fire button with your thumb
Next pro I'll give to this box mod is for compact size. Yeah, it's pretty fat, but it's short and overall has nice grip and it's very comfortable to use it
And I can't not to give a last pro for design.
This box mod has a charm of dotMOD. They do their devices beautiful and in their own way
This box mod is designed in a simple, concise style
I like a lot how this box mod looks
And now let's talk about the saddest thing
The price
The price of this box mod on official dotMOD site is 120$
It IS expensive
It's freaking expensive
But dotMOD always holds high price tag
And I'll tell you, there is a lot of people, who buys dotMOD products and knows what they are paying for
Even from current dotMOD, when we all know, that it's China
But, as I always said, there is good China and there is bad China
Here it's good China
Yes, not without problems. Yes, not without flaws.
But anyway - this is dotMOD and you know what? I like it
Overall, I want to remind you one more time regarding your safety
When you buy a thing like this you must know what you're taking in your hands, what you'll be using and how to use it properly
Necessarily read User Manual, necessarily watch this video one more time and then you shouldn't get any problems
And at this point I'll be finalizing me today's review
I want to say big thanks to dotMOD for sending me this device for review
Yes, almost forgot to show you - guys also sent to me these top caps for their recent RDTA
This is aluminum Red top cap and full black aluminum top cap
It looks dope as well
And I think it even works
Yeah, it is. But I need to change the coils
That's all, friends. At this point I'll ending my review for sure
I wanna thank YOU for your attention
Don't forget, in this corner we always have a voting going - do you like this device or no(да-yes/нет-no)
Leave a comment - what do you think about parallel connection and what do you think about series connection?
And, of course, hit that Like button if you liked my review
